Greetings, friends, and welcome to Week #1 of WPRB's Spring Memebership Drive! This is the one time of year when we interrupt our programming to ask for donations to keep locally-sourced, organic, fair-trade, keto, low-carb, paleo freeform radio bumpin' into your lives. Tonight's show was supposed to be a triumphant event staged at WPRB's new auxiliary studio (The Barge), but this past Sunday, a critical piece of equipment there went kaplooey, so it's back to the Starlite Lounge, where tonight I am joined by WPRB's own DJ Pethie. Together we'll be making a case for supporting WPRB by repeatedly directing you to our pledge site, where you can see all of the different donation levels and the bounty of related thank you gifts. Repairs are already underway at the Barge, so we hope to be back there soon.

Welcome back, Wednesday Night Pitcrew! It's a crazy special occasion tonight: WPRB's inaugural broadcast from our new, off-campus auxiliary studio, The Barge!

Since we're firing up a ton of brand new equipment for the first time this evening, I'm expecting some bumps and bruises along the way, some of which I hope to remedy in realtime. But if you notice something sonically amiss (such as a song being too loud or too quiet in comparison to everything else, a microphone with distorted audio, sound only coming out of one channel, etc.), please let me know in the chat, as this will help us diagnose any big issues before we start bringing DJs in for training.

Social media is a black hole of bullshit and I've been much happier since I deleted Instagram, Twitter, etc. I've been finding Mastodon a totally refreshing change and encourage you to give it a shot. No ads, no algorithms, and no racist chowderheads. (I mean, I assume they're around, but Mastodon's policies are far more progressive than the "both sides" horseshit that Musk, Zuck, and their ilk insist upon, so they get booted pretty quickly.) Overall, I've found a diverse community of cool folks there who are interested in learning about and supporting one another's creative endeavors. I use the platform to talk about WPRB and community radio in general, but a lot of other things as well. You can find and follow me with this link.

Pictured: Yours truly, in my first (and so far only) appearance... in a pamphlet, circa 1999. If I remember correctly, this brochure (and many others like it) was distributed throughout New York state public school districts, probably for use in high school guidance counselor's offices. The photo was 100% staged, but that really is WPRB's old studio in Holder Hall you see in the background, buttressed by an impressive wall of carts.
