Hello Hello!
Number 6 5:01:05 PM
Greetings!
Lizbot (host) 5:03:22 PM
Hi Number 6!
Number 6 5:04:14 PM
I like this one!
Lizbot (host) 5:07:22 PM
@Number 6 - Glad you're enjoying it!
Number 6 5:11:18 PM
The chats seem to be quiet lately, I guess that everyone is outside.
Lizbot (host) 5:13:02 PM
@Number 6 - Perhaps. Also I think it's been harder to log in lately
Number 6 5:13:50 PM
The online listener jawn says 160 people listening currently.
Lizbot (host) 5:18:26 PM
@Number 6 - Yeah, I had one additional step to signing in recently while listening to someone else's show where the playlist system asked me to verify with a code, so I don't know, maybe that's what's going on right now...
Number 6 5:20:05 PM
Oh boy, I had no problems, but a lot of sites are starting with that verify you are human thing anymore.
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:21:51 PM
Hello LB and #6. No problems with me signing in just now
Lizbot (host) 5:22:20 PM
Hi Rob from Maryland 🦀! I'm glad you were able to sign in!
Lizbot (host) 5:24:20 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - NO catbird sighting yet! However, we have a pair of bluejays living in our arborvitae and a pair of cardinals on the other side of the house!
Number 6 5:24:42 PM
Hi RFM, we've had our share of trolls in the past, so it could be in respose to that.
Number 6 5:25:06 PM
*response.
Lizbot (host) 5:28:46 PM
@Number 6 - Perhaps!
Lizbot (host) 5:31:45 PM
@Number 6 - Also maybe everyone is outside! I have seen soooo many people out in Princeton today on the way here, far more than usual, and more non-students. I think even though graduation isn't until the 26th, a lot of families are here to help kids who are done with classes move out
Number 6 5:35:34 PM
It's supposed to get warmer next week. :(

I just realized the name of your show is from the book 1984
Lizbot (host) 5:39:23 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Yes! Menace!
Lizbot (host) 5:39:53 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - When I named the show 24 years ago, I did not anticipate the future!
Lizbot (host) 5:40:17 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Or that having "bot" in my name could cause issues proving I'm a human to the internet!
Danosaur🦖 5:41:59 PM
@Lizbot - The world is finally catching up to you
Lizbot (host) 5:42:55 PM

Hopefully we won't be speaking Newspeak any time soon
Lizbot (host) 5:44:13 PM
@Number 6 - Despite great temperatures today, it was toasty in studio pre-turning on A/C, so I'm grateful for this unit because next week looks brutal! Going to 95 on Tuesday!

Zach 5:49:38 PM
Hey lizbot
Zach 5:49:51 PM
When and where?!
Danosaur🦖 5:50:00 PM
Just learned about this group the other day
Lizbot (host) 5:50:42 PM
@Zach - Hi! They're coming to Underground Arts Sept 16th but it's already sold out! They honestly could sell out Union Transfer at this point, so I'm not sure why they're playing a place as small as Underground Arts!
Lizbot (host) 5:51:09 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - Happy to hear your wife is inspired to dance to the Poitrine!
Zach 5:51:19 PM
@Danosaur Wprb and fam have been really into angine lately
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:51:35 PM
There's a second show in DC in September and my wife (the real AdP fan) is signed up for the pre-order or whatever. We'll both be going, IF she gets tickets
Zach 5:51:57 PM
Underground arts has the essence though.
Lizbot (host) 5:52:00 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Exactly. And other words and phrases used to increase visibility on the algorithm
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:52:11 PM

Ossy 5:55:11 PM
liz for earlier - that sunny smile, yellow dress and meadow natural hair tara has!!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:55:46 PM
The recently announced second DC show is on Sep. 17 at the Lincoln Theatre (capacity 1250). The original show sold out in seconds and is on Sep. 15 at The Atlantis, which I think only holds 250 people.
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:57:43 PM
The Atlantis holds 450 not 250

Remember when fern bars were a thing?
Lizbot (host) 6:03:00 PM
Hi Carlos Ramone!
Lizbot (host) 6:03:43 PM
@Ossy - "meadow natural" hair is a good descriptor! Very sunny and springlike, that Tara!
Lizbot (host) 6:04:40 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - Good to know! Yeah, I am disappointed that there is so far only one Philly show and it's far, far too small a venture
Lizbot (host) 6:05:02 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - "FERN bars"!?! DO tell me more!
Carlos Ramone 6:05:18 PM
@Liz..great start to the day, got in car at 5:41 am and SHEENA was playing on station..so much better to hear it over the airwaves. Hoping others were enjoying it too
Danosaur🦖 6:07:29 PM
@Lizbot - yeah, it was a decorative style with lots of plants. Like The Regal Beagle on Three's Company
Carlos Ramone 6:08:34 PM
Dan..explain the regale beagle to the young ones on here..not that I am one
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:08:47 PM
@Lizbot, would you happen to have anything by the Nashville band Snooper with you? No biggy if you don't
Lizbot (host) 6:09:56 PM
@Carlos Ramone - Sounds like a banner morning!
Carlos Ramone 6:10:58 PM
For 2 and a half minutes it was!!
Danosaur🦖 6:11:24 PM
The Regal Beagle was the bar Jack, Crissy, Janet and Larry would go to and highjinx would ensue
Lizbot (host) 6:11:56 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Ah! Yeah, my parents bought their house in 1971 and it was CHOCK fulla big ol ferns, a low-slung Danish sofa, macrame curtains made my mom's artsy friend, and lots of orange and brown/ earth-tones when I was growing up. They didn't really update it in the 80s, but then it got an early 90s makeover in so much as the sofa was sinking and trashed and it replaced by some chemically-treated pink floral nightmare
Carlos Ramone 6:12:39 PM
I love highjinx…I would also love shits and giggles
Lizbot (host) 6:12:53 PM
@Carlos Ramone / @Danosaur🦖- I saw some Three's Company on reruns growing up in the 80s, but very out of order, so the cast changes to the core cast members confused me!
Danosaur🦖 6:13:30 PM
@Lizbot - yes! That is the exact aesthetic
Danosaur🦖 6:15:49 PM
@Carlos Ramone - ...and perhaps a little slap and tickle?
Number 6 6:17:29 PM
@Lizbot- I thought that I read somewhere that it is a calculated move by some bands to play at small venues that sell out to generate more buzz, or whatever.
Carlos Ramone 6:18:47 PM
@#6..I read the same article. And then come back around on the same tour at a larger venue
Danosaur🦖 6:19:07 PM
@Number 6 - That would make sense. Create scarcity and demand
Lizbot (host) 6:19:17 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - I saw an author reading years ago about this book about that very thing!: Description from author:"The Great Funk: Falling Apart and Coming Together (on a Shag Rug)" in the Seventies by Thomas Hine is a social history exploring the 1970s through its fashion, design, and cultural shifts. It argues that the era was a profound, often chaotic, transformation of American life, moving beyond standard narratives of inflation and Watergate to analyze the "meaning" of 70s style
Lizbot (host) 6:22:07 PM
@Number 6 - oh, I heard about that touring/marketing strategy as well, but the thing is, they have gotten SO big, they could easily sell out a much larger venue in minutes. All that's happened now is that tickets are selling on third party sites like StubHub for a show at a venue (Underground Arts) that normally sell for $30-$40 for hundreds and I even saw a listing exceeding $1000! That's for standing only small basement venue!
Danosaur🦖 6:22:20 PM
@Lizbot - That sounds like an interesting book. As someone who grew up in the 70's I can attest to the weird and chaotic nature of the time
Lizbot (host) 6:23:59 PM
@Carlos Ramone - I hope they come back around soon! But yeah, they could have played Union Transfer THIS time around, or at least maybe the TLA, and then UT next time, or even larger
Lizbot (host) 6:25:10 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - I was only a toddler in the 70s, but its style permeated my childhood because I had old parents who had me a lot later in life than most of my peers' parents, so they were very much in the 60s and 70s stylistically and I still to this day love orange!
Carlos Ramone 6:27:06 PM
@Liz…good interview with Shawn from R5 productions in Philly mag..He is listed as owner of the UT
Lizbot (host) 6:29:08 PM
@Carlos Ramone - I know Sean, he books a lot of venues around Philly. I wish he'd been about to rescue The Trocadero - One of my all-time favorite Philly venues and a beautiful building. Unfortunately it got snatched up by someone else first , who just left is neglected and rotting and there it still sits, unused
Danosaur🦖 6:29:31 PM
@Lizbot - I've been watching old episodes of Match Game on YouTube and they are a fascinating socialogical artifact of styles and attitudes of everyday people at that time.
Lizbot (host) 6:34:03 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Match Game is one I barely saw, but know its premise and saw bits and pieces of it
Sephe Schoenfeld 6:34:49 PM
This Italian bass player and youtube personality did a pretty funny analysis if Angine de Poitrine bass lines and put zip tie frets on his bass to cover a couple their songs.
Lizbot (host) 6:34:57 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - It's almost like a psychological experiment, that show. Seems like it would be a mind exercise given to subjects in a university study!

Hi @Lizbot / I’m currently reading this book called “sparks -tasting by tosh berman” it’s about his experience of 21 live shows in 21 days in London. Must read for sparks fans :)
Sephe Schoenfeld 6:46:49 PM
Roy Aters came through sf a few times befroe he passed. I was fortunate to see him!
Lizbot (host) 6:53:55 PM
Hi Gautham Kalva!
Lizbot (host) 6:57:53 PM
@Gautham Kalva - oh what?! I was THERE at Carling Academy in Islington, London for a big chunk of 21 Nights! It was my final big hurrah before my kid was born! And i did not know about this book! I need to track that down! Thanks for letting me know about it! I met Ron & Russell at the bookstore across the way from Carling Academy and they signed my copy of Exotic Creatures of the Deep and wrote me a message. I was so tongue-tied around Ron! I can't even remember what I said to him!
Lizbot (host) 6:59:23 PM
@Sephe Schoenfeld - Oh wow, amazing! I would have loved to have seen Roy Ayers play!

Roffle 0x7EA 7:01:14 PM
Heya Lizbot! You like all my faves. Love it!
SV In Like Flynn 7:02:42 PM
Yes @ Number Six, my chat time goes down in nice weather. Hi @ Liz!
Lizbot (host) 7:03:53 PM
@Roffle 0x7EA - Ah! I saw UK at the final NEARFest, "NEARfest Apocalypse", at the Zoellner Arts Center in Bethlehem, PA in the early 2010s. They blew me away. AND they played King Crimson's "Starless" to boot! So glad I saw them because not that many years later, John Wetton passed away and I was doing a tribute to him on these airwaves
Lizbot (host) 7:04:10 PM
Hi SV In Like Flynn!
Lizbot (host) 7:05:34 PM
@SV In Like Flynn - I'm enjoying the late-day sun from the studio windows right now!
Roffle 0x7EA 7:08:27 PM
Starless is a super song in my silly book for sure. So cool to catch that. Such gifts this life throws at us. Fucking great. :)
Lizbot (host) 7:10:37 PM
@Roffle 0x7EA - omg hearing Starless live is one of those pinnacles of live music, both the UK version and all the times I saw King Crimson play it. Seeing KC live is one of my all-time favorite live music experiences, and I'm sad they no longer tour, but grateful Fripp kept it going for as long as he did
Roffle 0x7EA 7:16:20 PM
@Lizbot They sorta tour in separate worlds now. The Fripp endeavors and the thing with Belew and Vai and Levin. Good stuff all around IMO, but...
Lizbot (host) 7:20:21 PM
@Roffle 0x7EA - Seen both. Loved the Belew "Beat" show at the Keswick in 2024, but nothing beats Fripp-led Crimson for me.
Lizbot (host) 7:20:58 PM
@Roffle 0x7EA - As far as that "Beat" tour, though, I really loved it, although my only complaint, and it is minor, was that Vai sometimes showboated a bit and it didn't fit with the music!
Roffle 0x7EA 7:21:55 PM
Totally homage to themselves without Fripp. lol They paid the ticket though, so they get to ride.
Roffle 0x7EA 7:24:13 PM
Vai is Vai though. When everyone is a primadonna, whatcha gonna do? l;ol
Lizbot (host) 7:25:44 PM
@Roffle 0x7EA - Absolutely! I am 100% on board! And look, i love solo Belew as well, I see him every time he comes around for his solo shows. But man, he still seems bitter with Fripp! I understand Fripp is probably not an easy bandleader! Did you see that doc, In the Court of the Crimson King: King Crimson at 50, from a few years ago? Belew did not hold back in the interview on that doc with his frustration with how that Belew era of KC ended, but KC had already had multiple iterations before!
Roffle 0x7EA 7:28:31 PM
I actually talked to Belew in the late 80's and asked him about Fripp and Crimson and he was sour then, and said it was over, only to make more stuff. Go figure.
Number 6 7:28:39 PM
@Lizbot- I found that article: https://archive.ph/2026.04.17-081104/https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-04-17/how-bands-like-cameron-winter-s-geese-are-manufacturing-sold-out-shows
Dale Hazelton 7:31:01 PM
had my ears on....good stuff!
Lizbot (host) 7:31:03 PM
@Number 6 - Yes, I remember the kerfluffle around this Geese band. This article got a lot of circulation on social media! I haven't followed Geese closely because I care more about Angine de Poitrine, but yes, it does seem like an intentional strategy to spread hype
Lizbot (host) 7:31:11 PM
Hi Dale Hazelton!
Lizbot (host) 7:31:46 PM

Roffle 0x7EA 7:34:17 PM
Micro-tonal that is...
Lizbot (host) 7:37:17 PM
@Roffle 0x7EA - From earlier: haha, Belew seems like an affable guy, but yeah, he doesn't wanna drop the grudge i guess! How'd you end up talking to him?
Lizbot (host) 7:38:38 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - Exactly! Yeah, I had no skin in that game and was not intrigued by Geese in the first place. I feel Angine de Poitrine is receiving deserved praise so more power to them!
andrew pantry 7:39:15 PM
hi lizbot!
Lizbot (host) 7:40:03 PM
@Roffle 0x7EA - haha, yeah, i mean all the gate-keepers are mad that this oddball microtonal prog duo is getting wide attention, but why not? Hey, they have a great sound, they have a great gimmick with those costumes. I'm down with it!
Lizbot (host) 7:40:17 PM
Hi andrew pantry!
Roffle 0x7EA 7:41:03 PM
You will love the reason Lizbot. My friend was a DJ at KCPR in SLO and the Bears came thru in their van on the way to LA and he had a meet and greet with him in San Francisco and asked him to stop by. So he did. And he told to come. I love my life!
Roffle 0x7EA 7:42:04 PM
I took the group pictures on his camera too. lol
Roffle 0x7EA 7:42:37 PM
Life is pretty rich
Roffle 0x7EA 7:43:09 PM

Hi Amy Lee!
Lizbot (host) 7:52:02 PM
@Amy Lee - It's for good reasons, though! I'm enjoying there still being a smidgeon of light when I leave the studio at 8!
Lizbot (host) 7:52:16 PM
