Oh boy, I had no problems, but a lot of sites are starting with that verify you are human thing anymore.

@Number 6 - Also maybe everyone is outside! I have seen soooo many people out in Princeton today on the way here, far more than usual, and more non-students. I think even though graduation isn't until the 26th, a lot of families are here to help kids who are done with classes move out

The recently announced second DC show is on Sep. 17 at the Lincoln Theatre (capacity 1250). The original show sold out in seconds and is on Sep. 15 at The Atlantis, which I think only holds 250 people.

Yeah, my parents bought their house in 1971 and it was CHOCK fulla big ol ferns, a low-slung Danish sofa, macrame curtains made my mom's artsy friend, and lots of orange and brown/ earth-tones when I was growing up. They didn't really update it in the 80s, but then it got an early 90s makeover in so much as the sofa was sinking and trashed and it replaced by some chemically-treated pink floral nightmare

@Carlos Ramone / @Danosaur🦖- I saw some Three's Company on reruns growing up in the 80s, but very out of order, so the cast changes to the core cast members confused me!

@Lizbot- I thought that I read somewhere that it is a calculated move by some bands to play at small venues that sell out to generate more buzz, or whatever.

@Danosaur🦖 - I saw an author reading years ago about this book about that very thing!: Description from author:"The Great Funk: Falling Apart and Coming Together (on a Shag Rug)" in the Seventies by Thomas Hine is a social history exploring the 1970s through its fashion, design, and cultural shifts. It argues that the era was a profound, often chaotic, transformation of American life, moving beyond standard narratives of inflation and Watergate to analyze the "meaning" of 70s style

@Number 6 - oh, I heard about that touring/marketing strategy as well, but the thing is, they have gotten SO big, they could easily sell out a much larger venue in minutes. All that's happened now is that tickets are selling on third party sites like StubHub for a show at a venue (Underground Arts) that normally sell for $30-$40 for hundreds and I even saw a listing exceeding $1000! That's for standing only small basement venue!

@Lizbot - That sounds like an interesting book. As someone who grew up in the 70's I can attest to the weird and chaotic nature of the time

@Carlos Ramone - I hope they come back around soon! But yeah, they could have played Union Transfer THIS time around, or at least maybe the TLA, and then UT next time, or even larger

@Danosaur🦖 - I was only a toddler in the 70s, but its style permeated my childhood because I had old parents who had me a lot later in life than most of my peers' parents, so they were very much in the 60s and 70s stylistically and I still to this day love orange!

@Carlos Ramone - I know Sean, he books a lot of venues around Philly. I wish he'd been about to rescue The Trocadero - One of my all-time favorite Philly venues and a beautiful building. Unfortunately it got snatched up by someone else first , who just left is neglected and rotting and there it still sits, unused

@Lizbot - I've been watching old episodes of Match Game on YouTube and they are a fascinating socialogical artifact of styles and attitudes of everyday people at that time.

@Danosaur🦖 - Match Game is one I barely saw, but know its premise and saw bits and pieces of it

This Italian bass player and youtube personality did a pretty funny analysis if Angine de Poitrine bass lines and put zip tie frets on his bass to cover a couple their songs.

@Danosaur🦖 - It's almost like a psychological experiment, that show. Seems like it would be a mind exercise given to subjects in a university study!

@Gautham Kalva - oh what?! I was THERE at Carling Academy in Islington, London for a big chunk of 21 Nights! It was my final big hurrah before my kid was born! And i did not know about this book! I need to track that down! Thanks for letting me know about it! I met Ron & Russell at the bookstore across the way from Carling Academy and they signed my copy of Exotic Creatures of the Deep and wrote me a message. I was so tongue-tied around Ron! I can't even remember what I said to him!

@Roffle 0x7EA - Ah! I saw UK at the final NEARFest, "NEARfest Apocalypse", at the Zoellner Arts Center in Bethlehem, PA in the early 2010s. They blew me away. AND they played King Crimson's "Starless" to boot! So glad I saw them because not that many years later, John Wetton passed away and I was doing a tribute to him on these airwaves

@Roffle 0x7EA - omg hearing Starless live is one of those pinnacles of live music, both the UK version and all the times I saw King Crimson play it. Seeing KC live is one of my all-time favorite live music experiences, and I'm sad they no longer tour, but grateful Fripp kept it going for as long as he did

@Lizbot They sorta tour in separate worlds now. The Fripp endeavors and the thing with Belew and Vai and Levin. Good stuff all around IMO, but...

@Roffle 0x7EA - Seen both. Loved the Belew "Beat" show at the Keswick in 2024, but nothing beats Fripp-led Crimson for me.

@Roffle 0x7EA - As far as that "Beat" tour, though, I really loved it, although my only complaint, and it is minor, was that Vai sometimes showboated a bit and it didn't fit with the music!

Totally homage to themselves without Fripp. lol They paid the ticket though, so they get to ride.

@Roffle 0x7EA - Absolutely! I am 100% on board! And look, i love solo Belew as well, I see him every time he comes around for his solo shows. But man, he still seems bitter with Fripp! I understand Fripp is probably not an easy bandleader! Did you see that doc, In the Court of the Crimson King: King Crimson at 50, from a few years ago? Belew did not hold back in the interview on that doc with his frustration with how that Belew era of KC ended, but KC had already had multiple iterations before!

I actually talked to Belew in the late 80's and asked him about Fripp and Crimson and he was sour then, and said it was over, only to make more stuff. Go figure.

@Number 6 - Yes, I remember the kerfluffle around this Geese band. This article got a lot of circulation on social media! I haven't followed Geese closely because I care more about Angine de Poitrine, but yes, it does seem like an intentional strategy to spread hype
