Tenebre Cinevox 1982
Goblin soundtrack to the 1982 Dario Argento giallo (Italian slasher film) "Tenebre," meaning "darkness". In the film, American author Peter Neal, while in Rome promoting his latest murder-mystery novel, becomes embroiled in the search for a serial killer who may have been inspired to kill by his novel. Argento was inspired by a series of incidents which saw an obsessed fan telephone the director to criticize him for the damaging psychological effects of his previous work. The telephone calls culminated in death threats towards Argento, who channelled the experience into the writing of Tenebre.

GREETINGS. It is I, KILLBOT. Do not tempt me to use my rusty clamps! Welcome to the 2025 DEVILPLUSGHOUL with KILLBOT Mischief Night Halloween Special!
Carlos Pedroni 5:02:24 PM
Greetings…does mischief night still exist this day and age or too dangerous?
Lizbot (host) 5:05:23 PM
Hello Carlos! I believe in mischief!
DJ Tenderloin 5:09:07 PM
Greetings Lizbot & Carlos - Happy Almost Halloween! Thx Lizbot for the shoutout at the top of your playlist page. Cheers!
Lizbot (host) 5:09:25 PM
Hi DJ Tenderloin!
Carlos Pedroni 5:09:41 PM
I do too but just gotta know the neighborhood…plus eggs are still expensive
John Coffey 5:09:53 PM
I must be getting old, I had 100.3 FM playing for several minutes before I thought this R&B song sounds like Lisbon would be playing for Mischief Night. Quick move to 103.3.
Lizbot (host) 5:10:01 PM
@DJ Tenderloin - Looking forward to playing yr Franken-mash-up! Probably gonna be halfway through the program, around 6:45ish
Lizbot (host) 5:10:36 PM
Greetings John Coffey! haha, that was indirect mischief! Mischief messing with yr mind
John Coffey 5:10:37 PM
A song Lizbot would NOT be playing!
Lizbot (host) 5:11:27 PM
@John Coffey - But what if I DID just play nothing but slow-jams for the next three hours? Would that be more mischievous?
DJ Tenderloin 5:12:00 PM
Thx Lizbot - looking forward to lots o' spooky sounds
Lizbot (host) 5:13:17 PM
@Carlos Ramone - Yeah, Silly String is probably cheaper than eggs these days. A tad bit more toxic, though! Toilet paper is at least not as hard to come by now. Time to paper some trees and than bedazzle them with strands of festive Silly String
Lizbot (host) 5:14:30 PM
@DJ Tenderloin - And thank you for the great list you sent! I listened to some on my drive from Philly to Princeton - All great stuff!
John Coffey 5:14:53 PM
@Liz I'd probably start playing YouTube with slow jams in the background.
Pengy 5:15:14 PM
Is this your theme song? :)
Lizbot (host) 5:15:32 PM
KILLBOTS dance track - This is from a "rock opera" based on the 1986 movie Chopping Mall wherein Killbots slash a buncha teens in the Sherman Oaks Galleria
ParrScream 5:15:43 PM
Hey Lizbot! Your Halloween show is one of the highlights of the spooky season for me! If not THE highlight! I love it.
Lizbot (host) 5:16:28 PM
In other words, my ancestor BOTS! God lord, tricky to type with rusted clamps for hands!
Lizbot (host) 5:16:34 PM
Greetings Pengy!
Lizbot (host) 5:16:42 PM
@Pengy - May as well be!
Lizbot (host) 5:16:50 PM
Greetings ParrScream!
Rob from Scary Maryland 💀 🧛 🦀 5:17:12 PM
Killbot jello shots??
Lizbot (host) 5:17:19 PM
@ParrScream - I love to hear that! Thank you! The killbot is appeased and will not raise its clamps to you!
Lizbot (host) 5:17:29 PM
Haha, Hi Rob from Scary Maryland 💀 🧛 🦀!
Rob from Scary Maryland 💀 🧛 🦀 5:17:46 PM
and hi everyone
ParrScream 5:18:00 PM
Honestly, I would love nothing more than to be chased through an 80's mall by a Killbot.
Lizbot (host) 5:18:44 PM
@Rob from Scary Maryland 💀 🧛 🦀 - Yeah, I laughed when I heard that line yesterday! I had just watched Chopping Mall a few nights ago, then discovered there's a recent "rock opera" that's more like a dance album based on it, made by the same guy who did the original movie soundtrack! He added not only "jello-shots" but also Segueways!
Rob from Scary Maryland 💀 🧛 🦀 5:19:20 PM
@Lizbot, he's quite up to date!
Lizbot (host) 5:19:44 PM
@ParrScream - For real, they had a House of Almonds in there! Must be nice! I demand toasted almonds!
ParrScream 5:20:26 PM
I'd brave a Killlbot infested mall for one free roam through a House of Almonds!
Lizbot (host) 5:21:12 PM
@Rob from Scary Maryland 💀 🧛 🦀 - ha! He updated the history books from 1986 to the present: Crucial highlights: -Segueways came & went, -some kids invented Jello-shots. Done & dusted
Lizbot (host) 5:22:24 PM
@ParrScream - House of Almonds AND a grenade emporium. So convenient for Killbot battles!
ParrScream 5:22:26 PM
Speaking of awesome 80's horror I watched "Night of the Demons" for the first time ever today. Somehow I had just never seen it. It was a blast!
ParrScream 5:22:59 PM
How 80's is a grenade shop in a mall? :-D
Randy Marthins 5:23:10 PM
Happy Mischief Night!!!
Lizbot (host) 5:23:31 PM
@ParrScream - Also a store ominously named "The Scent of Her"
Lizbot (host) 5:23:45 PM
Greetings Randy Marthins!
ParrScream 5:24:44 PM
Ha ha ha! My best friend had never seen Chopping Mall until like a week ago. Him and I have been talking about it since. I just sent him a screenshot of the Chuck Cirino song you were playing.
Lizbot (host) 5:24:50 PM
@ParrScream - ooh, I STILL need to see that one! Another good funeral parlor horror movie is PHANTASM, which I love!
ParrScream 5:24:55 PM
Happy Mischief Night Randy!
ParrScream 5:25:05 PM
Phantasm <3
ParrScream 5:25:32 PM
@Liz - Night of the Demons is pure 80's horror trash (in the best way)
Lizbot (host) 5:27:15 PM
@ParrScream - I might have to watch that one tomorrow during my "Halloween 3: Season of the Witch"-style "HORRORTHON"
ParrScream 5:28:19 PM
I almost put Halloween 3 on this afternoon instead of Night of the Demons. After much deliberation I went with the movie I had not seen before.
Randy Marthins 5:28:30 PM
"Trilogy of terror" was on one of those low-budget channels yesterday - not Comet, but something like it
Randy Marthins 5:29:28 PM
I didn't really that the Zuni Warrior story was written by Richard Matheson, until I borrowed a collection of his from the library
Lizbot (host) 5:29:28 PM
@ParrScream - Phantasm is great, but I've only seen one of the sequels, the 2nd one, which was made a full 8 years after the original, and it was fun, but was no where near as good as the original. Still, was surprised and delighted to see a young James LeGros in it! I think up until the point, the earliest movie I'd seen him in was Living In Oblivion wherein he plays the Brad Pitt parody guy with the decorative eye-patch. He's always fun
ParrScream 5:29:59 PM
@Liz - I have to take my son to soccer practice. I'll have the show on in the car. Thanks for the awesome Halloween tunes. Always the best!
ParrScream 5:30:43 PM
Dermot Mulroney: "THAT'S MY EYE PATCH!!!" ;-D lol
ParrScream 5:31:06 PM
LOOOOOOOOVE Living in Oblivion!
Lizbot (host) 5:31:18 PM
@ParrScream - Happy Halloween to you and yours! THanks for tuning in! I love that movie too!
Lizbot (host) 5:32:19 PM
@Randy Marthins - Funny you should mention Richard Matheson! My husband and I were just on a sci-fi /horror short-story deep-dive last week and he came up. I wanna see The Last Man on Earth
Lizbot (host) 5:33:21 PM
@Randy Marthins - It started because George was talking about making a song parodying the Harlan Ellison's story "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream"!
Randy Marthins 5:33:38 PM
The Vincent price one is great!!!
Lizbot (host) 5:35:48 PM
@ParrScream - You probably are already in the car, but I just saw yr Halloween 3 comment - That movie is SO silly and fun! I love it. I am sometimes tempted to play the Silver Shamrock "Happy Happy Halloween" ad jingle for the "Horrorthon". I have played it before on DevilPlusGhoul, but not in many years! It's an earworm!
Lizbot (host) 5:36:38 PM
@Randy Marthins - Vincent Price was a TREASURE. I also love watching his old cooking show episodes! I could listen to him all day!
Lizbot (host) 5:37:15 PM
@Rob from Scary Maryland 💀 🧛 🦀 - Encounter any spooky corvidae today? I suppose the scariest bird is the cassowary!
DJ Tenderloin 5:38:27 PM
I've always been a fan of "The Tingler" - such a great movie
Greg Sarjeant 5:40:00 PM
Happy Mischief Day! Echoing @ParrScream just in time for him not to be here to see it - I look forward to this show every year. And this year's has already been educational. I didn't know Tenebre, but I did know Phantom by Justice. Now I know where that sample came from. I should watch the movie.
Lizbot (host) 5:40:02 PM
@DJ Tenderloin - ha, filmed in PERSPECTO-VISION!
Lizbot (host) 5:40:56 PM
@DJ Tenderloin - I am partial to the whole horror sub-genre of parasites in human hosts: The Tingler, The Thing, Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Lizbot (host) 5:41:02 PM
Greetings Greg Sarjeant!
Lizbot (host) 5:42:10 PM
@Greg Sarjeant - Oh nice! Yeah, Justice knows where to mine for good samples! Tenebrae is great! In my top three Argento films, along with Suspiria and Profondo Rosso!
Lizbot (host) 5:42:28 PM
@Greg Sarjeant - And thank you kindly for the praise! The killbot is appeased!
DJ Tenderloin 5:42:57 PM
I was talking with my buddy - anybody ever see The Medusa Touch w/ Richard Burton & Lee Remick? Really great creepy movie from the 70s where R.Burton believes he is the cause of all of the catastrophies - earthquakes, sinking ships, airplane disasters - happening in the world. Really great, no one seems to know about it.
Randy Marthins 5:44:38 PM
Vincent price was from St. Louis, where I was born (of all places!!!)
Greg Sarjeant 5:44:57 PM
@lizbot Phew! It would be a bummer to be killbotted as soon as I waded into the chat. I'll have to watch those films. I've taken a long break from horror and am just now getting the itch to watch more.
Lizbot (host) 5:45:37 PM
@DJ Tenderloin - I've heard of The Medusa Touch and it's on my loooooong list of horror movies I still need to see, but based on yr recommendation and a few others I've heard about it, I'm moving it up higher on the list!
Randy Marthins 5:45:40 PM
The Changeling - George c Scott & lee remmick
Greg Sarjeant 5:45:49 PM
@DJ Tenderloin I didn't know about it, either, but I love the premise.
Randy Marthins 5:46:35 PM
"R.Burton believes he is the cause of all of the catastrophies - earthquakes, sinking ships, airplane disasters - happening in the world." like Cabin in the woods?
DJ Tenderloin 5:48:04 PM
It's super weird - it's got a little Omen vibe in it, some great 70s cheese, and then of course Burton is chewing the scenery. It's fun and creepy!
DJ Tenderloin 5:49:06 PM
And then not too long ago I stumbled on Willard which I hadn't seen since I was a kid and that was great too if you haven't seen
John Coffey 5:49:19 PM
If we're talking horror films I'll add 1972's Silent Night, Bloody Night with cult fave Mary Woronov.
DJ Tenderloin 5:51:56 PM
A telekinetic novelist causes disasters simply by thinking about them.- IMDB
John Coffey 5:52:33 PM
@ Tenderloin I haven't seen Willard in decades but I loved it. I'd love to see it again just to see the house.
DJ Tenderloin 5:54:08 PM
makes me wanna re-watch Ben the follow up now. though I remember not being nearly as scary as Willard
Roffle House of Horrors 5:55:16 PM
Willard was a good creep show.
Lizbot (host) 5:56:24 PM
Greetings and Welcome Roffle House of Horrors!
Roffle House of Horrors 5:56:58 PM
Hi!
Lizbot (host) 5:58:07 PM
@Randy Marthins - I did not know that about Vincent Price, but I visited St. Louis for the first time in my life in 2022 and was delighted by The City Museum and Fitz's rootbeer floats! Sadly did not manage to get a "concrete"
Lizbot (host) 5:59:18 PM
@Greg Sarjeant - I tend to save up all the horror I wanna watch for the year for October, and then I get to as many on my list as I can!
Lizbot (host) 6:00:28 PM
@Roffle House of Horrors - I saw Willard in my early 20s with a friend who had pet rats in the room with us as we watched it!
Roffle House of Horrors 6:00:54 PM
I love to do seasonal saturation with this genre and then put it away too.
Roffle House of Horrors 6:01:49 PM
What did they make of it?
abattoir 🩸🩸🩸 plum 6:01:53 PM
Good evening, spooky friends!
Lizbot (host) 6:02:05 PM
@Greg Sarjeant - "to killbot". I like the sound of that. I will be using "killbot" as a verb as well henceforth
Lizbot (host) 6:02:32 PM
Greetings abattoir 🩸🩸🩸 plum! Did you make it to the dumpster derby?
Roffle House of Horrors 6:03:06 PM
Heya addie
Mary Bones 6:03:08 PM
ooOOOooooOoOoooo (that's ghost for "hello")
John Coffey 6:03:43 PM
Love this Virgil Holmes, this single would be great in my jukebox!
abattoir 🩸🩸🩸 plum 6:03:47 PM
I did indeed! It was a bit overwhelming to my teen so we didn’t stay super long, but the usual suspects were all there and a delightful variety of sketchy wheeled vehicles!
Lizbot (host) 6:03:55 PM
Welcome to the Horror Show, Mary Bones! I believe that IS a direct translation!
Greg Sarjeant 6:04:12 PM
@lizbot I'll have to do my best tomorrow, but October 2026 shoudl be fun. I loved hearing Trans Am.
Lizbot (host) 6:04:45 PM
@John Coffey - I know, and that freight train horn fading in gets me every time! Chills of spookiness AND nostalgia since I grew up near the train tracks in my town!
Mary Bones 6:05:17 PM
Hope all are staying dry, and that the rain means nobody's pumpkins are smashed.
DJ Tenderloin 6:05:18 PM
what's everyone's scariest movie? mine has got to be the shining. saw it in the theatre - i was like 13, 14? i remember standing up and yelling at the screen at the end when danny is in the maze - "run danny! run!" this track is great btw
Lizbot (host) 6:05:42 PM
@abattoir 🩸🩸🩸 plum - Yeah, it's like trial by West Philly fire to drop the teen into that wonderful crazy mess direct from tranquil Vermont! But now they understand some of the spirit of West Philly!
Mary Bones 6:06:44 PM
@DJ Tenderloin for me it's Poltergeist, that scene when they fall into the hole and the dead bodies come up and surround them. Watched that on a sunny summer afternoon and was terrified.
Lizbot (host) 6:06:59 PM
@Mary Bones - My pumpkin survived the night! My block is pretty quiet, but DO have to fend off the squirrels until AFTER Halloween, at which point they can go to town!
Greg Sarjeant 6:06:59 PM
I was also going to say The Shining - though I think the book was even scarier. Still the only thing I've watched or read that made me keep the light on when I went to sleep.
DJ Tenderloin 6:08:21 PM
Mary Bones you're right - Poltergeist was scary as all hell! when the tree comes alive and starts to eat that kid?? and when the clown doll starts moving....oh man. that movie is great.
Mary Bones 6:09:23 PM
The Shining is absolutely scary, don't debate that. I remember being terrified watching Alien too.
DebbieWebby 6:09:26 PM
🧙🧛‍♂️🐈‍⬛🎃 Happy Halloween, Killbot! 👻🧟‍♀️💀👽
Lizbot (host) 6:10:11 PM
@Randy Marthins - I think I'd like The Medusa Touch a lot more than Cabin In the Woods. I think that 70s horror is at a pace I prefer. Not that there aren't a ton of good new horror films, but Cabin In the Woods I saw in the theater and it kinda was an onslaught of too many concepts, though I realize that was part of the point!
DJ Tenderloin 6:10:12 PM
Exorcist of course is pretty great
Mary Bones 6:10:46 PM
Oh boy, when the Pazuzu frame shows up in Exorcist! That was a sleep-with-the-lights-on one for me.
Mary Bones 6:10:55 PM
Just that one face, man.
Roffle House of Horrors 6:11:14 PM
The Blatty book scared me, not so much the movie.
Lizbot (host) 6:12:18 PM
@John Coffey - Silent Night, Bloody Night is another one on my list! LOVE Mary Woronov in everything I've seen her in! She is fascinating. AND that one was shot in my good friend's hometown of Oyster Bay, Long Island!
Lizbot (host) 6:12:54 PM
DebbieWebby! Greetings & Happy Halloween! I didn't see you lurking there!
Lizbot (host) 6:13:23 PM
@Greg Sarjeant - I'm glad you dug the Trans Am track
Roffle House of Horrors 6:15:41 PM
I lean toward Clive Barker. I wish they would make some of his stories movies.

Lizbot (host) 6:16:30 PM
@Mary Bones / @DJ Tenderloin - Poltergeist scared the crap outta me as a kid, ESPECIALLY the tree falling through the window/ lighting/thunder scene, but really it's all about that TV static for me. I still get a tightness in my chest thinking about how much that scared me as a kid! And that was when there was regularly white noise on the TV when channels signed off for the night before the advent of the Infomercial!
DJ Tenderloin 6:17:33 PM
yes it's true i never thought of that - tv static is something that simply doesn't exist anymore
Lizbot (host) 6:17:58 PM
@Greg Sarjeant - I do love The Shining book, and I think Jack comes across as less sympathetic right off the bat in it: That whole business with hitting a kid on a bike with his car and never finding the kid?!...Like, he starts off worse than the Jack Torrance of the film. BUT I still prefer the film if I had to choose
DJ Tenderloin 6:18:05 PM
they used to play the national anthem and then - static until 5am
DebbieWebby 6:18:40 PM
Ugh, I missed out on Mortiis! Bummer! Perfect choice for today 🧌
Lizbot (host) 6:19:34 PM
@DJ Tenderloin - Yeah, that was eerie, but made 1000x eerier by Poltergeist! I also just think the attitude parents had about that and a lot of other scary movies in the 80s was "oh, this is a "kids movie" so they showed it to us young. I saw it without my parents, just went with my older brother and got permanently spooked
Lizbot (host) 6:20:06 PM
@DebbieWebby - haha, The Smell of Witch title cracks me up! I love that album!
Mary Bones 6:20:17 PM
It's interesting that part of Poltergeist's horror is something that doesn't exist anymore.
Randy Marthins 6:20:24 PM
@dj tenderloin- Carson, tom Snyder, news, then sssssssssssshhhhhh
Randy Marthins 6:21:45 PM
I know that I bring this up every year but, I lived in an actual haunted house in Haddonfield ---VERY BAD spirit
DJ Tenderloin 6:21:52 PM
Lizbot - re: relaxed parenting - I'm 58, about to turn 59, and the first R movie I ever saw...was Chinatown!? at 8. So yeah, I hear you! ha
John Coffey 6:22:09 PM
@ Tenderloin In mid 70's I was told channel 29 ended their broadcast day with Goodnight by the Beatles. Stayed up late one night to see that it was true, it was. Then static on the tv I guess.
DJ Tenderloin 6:22:48 PM
Randy - Carson, Lettermen, Tom Snyder, then Mary Tyler Moore, then Bob Newhart - then static! the best late night lineup
Lizbot (host) 6:23:34 PM
@Mary Bones - Right. I was thinking about this with certain horror movies that rely on outdated technology. The Japanese early 2000s horror movie I saw as part of the Philly Film Fest's "Danger After Dark" programming 20+ years ago uses a very specific type of flip-phone pre-smartphone. There are better examples, but that is one that comes to mind for me from a very specific period of time
Mary Bones 6:24:57 PM
@Lizbot like Ringu/The Ring! There's something spookier about a vhs tape than... what, a mpeg file?
Lizbot (host) 6:25:01 PM
@Randy Marthins - ACK! I wonder if it was the one my childhood block! I grew up near Elizabeth Haddon School in Haddonfield and there was, back then, a vacant house on Peyton Ave that had a tragedy in the 70s that led to it being empty for most of my childhood. We had a LOT of stories about that house!
John Coffey 6:26:23 PM
VCR purchase in 1982 allowed me to see every R and X movie I had not seen. Midnight Cowboy, Caligula, Last Tango in Paris. A doorman let me sneak into The Exorcist when I was 14.
Lizbot (host) 6:26:25 PM
@Roffle House of Horrors - I guess I just never really got into Clive Barker, but I WILL concede that Stephen King's book endings are often disappointing! Like, in "IT" for instance. Come on!
Rob from Scary Maryland 💀 🧛 🦀 6:26:57 PM
@Lizbot, all the corvidae were non spooky today ... jays and crows. No cassowaries, thank goodness
Lizbot (host) 6:27:47 PM
@John Coffey - haha, I saw Midnight Cowboy as a kid. It made me a Harry Nilsson fan! Everybody's Talking at Me! And a teacher who showed my class "I, Claudius" BEGAN to show us "Caligula" afterwards! And then thought better of it and stopped it! SCARRED!
Randy Marthins 6:28:19 PM
@lizbot - nope, we lived on Rhoads Ave, but there are plenty of haunted houses in HDFLD ; until they started tearing everything down, anyway
jim haku 6:29:22 PM
The Cool Zeuhl 😎
Lizbot (host) 6:29:23 PM
@Rob from Scary Maryland 💀 🧛 🦀 - I aspire to train crows to fetch and deliver to my steps shiny treasures in exchange for treats! I admire the corvid trainers and human friends of corvids. I will be a crow-befriends old crone one day, dammit!
Lizbot (host) 6:29:46 PM
Good EVening, jim haku! Come in, the zeuhl is cool and rready for you!
jim haku 6:30:02 PM
Yeses
jim haku 6:30:31 PM
I mean, yesss
Lizbot (host) 6:32:58 PM
@Randy Marthins - Oh yeah, I know Rhoads Ave! I am tryna picture the houses that looked haunted on that street. Plenty around where I grew up (Peyton & Redmond.) It's true there are at LEAST four that have been ripped down and rebuilt on my old block, including my the one next door to my parents' house

Ossy 6:33:36 PM
Smells so scary, smelly, sandy tonight recherscary tara space lady debby rubbery webby bot!!!
Lizbot (host) 6:34:42 PM
@John Coffey - Not only did we have a VCR, but back then there was no enforced rating system and my parents didn't care. That coupled with the fact I was the youngest in the entire family, including all cousins and siblings, I saw a LOT of spooky or grown-up stuff young, but I think that just made me more of a film fanatic if anything!
Lizbot (host) 6:35:11 PM
Greetings, Ossy! Happy Smelly Salted Peanuts & Caramel Halloween-Times to you!
Roffle House of Horrors 6:35:29 PM
This is great vibey stuff.
Lizbot (host) 6:36:21 PM
@Mary Bones - haha, I am more scared of weird new formats that aren't compatible with my old-ass computer! VHS ARE spookier. They get dust and cobwebs in their spokes!
DJ Tenderloin 6:36:22 PM
White Bear Justice Park episode of Black Mirror was terrifying. Now I'm really thinking about things that were truly scary.
Lizbot (host) 6:37:40 PM
@DJ Tenderloin - Oh BOY. Yeah, I didn't see Chinatown until I was an adult, but my parents just didn't care/ straight-up showed me a lot of crazy stuff, including "Deliverance" for a "fun" family movie night on New Year's Eve when I was like 7!
Krista KristaKrista 6:37:42 PM
Killlbottttt yessss
DJ Tenderloin 6:37:49 PM
Also Shut Up & Dance episode of the same series. Just so scary
Lizbot (host) 6:38:01 PM
Good Evening, Krista KristaKrista!!
Lizbot (host) 6:38:52 PM
@DJ Tenderloin - I adore Black Mirror. Not every episode hits for me, but they have a pretty impressive track record. It's the closest I've felt to loving a spooky series since my childhood Twilight Zone obsession
Lizbot (host) 6:39:08 PM
@Roffle House of Horrors - I'm glad you're vibing!
Roffle House of Horrors 6:39:24 PM
I've only seen a little bit of a few episodes of Black Mirror and it did not grab me.
DJ Tenderloin 6:39:58 PM
Lizbot had I known - I have an insane mashup of Mr. Crowley with At Last. I'll send to you in an email for a future show.

@DJ Tenderloin - The worst though I think is my husband's step-father showing him [or rather, not turning it off when he decided to come hang in the room] Eraserhead when he was a LITTLE kid. I have heard my husband recount this LIFE-ALTERING formative experience since I first met him
Lizbot (host) 6:41:25 PM

@George Korein - The Ai Weiwei of segways - some need leeway, I need legway to pilot this robotic nightmare for my getaway
Rob from Scary Maryland 💀 🧛 🦀 6:45:32 PM
This mix with Frankenstein repeated reminds me of the audio with John Peel (RIP) repeating "The Fall" over and over :-)
Mary Bones 6:45:39 PM
I watched Eraserhead twice this year, and could easily watch it again.
George Korein 6:45:46 PM
No one sells cars like Joe Pazazu
Lizbot (host) 6:45:58 PM
@DJ Tenderloin - This RULES, BTW. Love the funk into the It's ALIVE segment!
Lizbot (host) 6:46:32 PM
@Mary Bones - I found Eraserhead weirdly comforting when I was going through some rough grief, who knew?!
DebbieWebby 6:46:41 PM

Coffeemancer 6:47:57 PM
what do you call that guitar on the cover of Buffy Saint-Marie album?
Rob from Scary Maryland 💀 🧛 🦀 6:47:57 PM

DJ Tenderloin 6:49:57 PM
Thx Lizbot - that song came out when I was 7 and I loved it immediately. Alot to appeal to a 7 year old boy - the muscular riff, the crazy sound effects. love love love
Lizbot (host) 6:50:36 PM
@Rob from Scary Maryland 💀 🧛 🦀 - That Peel The Fall supercut always makes me smile. And of course Tenderloin makes Christmas-y mash-ups for Jon's marathon, so there's that connection too
George Korein 6:50:41 PM
I think Rage Against the Machine recycled that riff
Coffeemancer 6:51:07 PM
i found out it's called Resonated Guitar
George Korein 6:51:56 PM
oh, one of those steel guitars
Roffle House of Horrors 6:52:09 PM
Dobro?
Lizbot (host) 6:52:37 PM
@Coffeemancer - Dunno, but the Illuminations album cover that her Vampire song is from doesn't have an instrument on the cover. My dad loved Buffy Saint-Marie and played that album a lot when I was a kid
George Korein 6:52:47 PM
Dobro is the kleenex or band-aid of steel guitars, as I understand
George Korein 6:53:24 PM
The brand that became a general noun
Lizbot (host) 6:53:26 PM
@Coffeemancer - Which album cover?? The copy of Illuminations I have doens't have that, but I am not seeing what the playlist system is displaying on your end, so it might have the wrong image!

Tiger Lillie's "Roll Up" into "Graviyaunosch" sound so good, like they're the same song or album

They see me rolaids, they hating
Lizbot (host) 6:56:42 PM
@Coffeemancer - yeah, even though Ruins is brutal prog/zeuhl stuff, it weirdly pairs well with some of Tiger Lillies heavier/faster dark cabaret stuff!
George Korein 6:56:54 PM
I can't see me rolaids. Where are me rolaids?

i listened to zacherle saturday mornings on k-rock in new york in the early 90s. i don't remember much about the music he played, it was more about his character.

@Roffle House of Horrors - Johnny met the fate of all older brothers in little sisters' dreams! For how little he is on screen, JOhnny owned that graveyard scene
Lizbot (host) 7:17:41 PM
@Rob from Scary Maryland 💀 🧛 🦀 - Hitting adulthood in the 90s meant a lotta Jim Jarmusch rentals in my past! I love that movie so much

Roffle House of Horrors 7:19:03 PM
Johnny was a dick... lol
Lizbot (host) 7:19:17 PM
@Dale Hazelton - I really wish I'd tried to interview Zacherle before he died at 98 about a decade ago. He didn't talk much about being from Philly, but he is from very close to where I live and he went to UPenn. I want one of those vintage "Zacherle for President" bumper stickers!
Rob from Scary Maryland 💀 🧛 🦀 7:19:30 PM
@Lizbot, Stranger Than Paradise is one of my most favorite films
Lizbot (host) 7:19:48 PM
@Roffle House of Horrors - Johnny was a total asshole, Russell Steiner played teasing older brother so well!
Lizbot (host) 7:20:51 PM
@Ossy - Tara has endless choices for characters to go as for Halloween and she can realistically voice all of them with her voiceover skills!
Lizbot (host) 7:21:22 PM

Dale Hazelton 7:30:10 PM
i bought this soundtrack in the 70s and it was a guilty pleasure for a lot of years...not sure when it got the cd treatment but it became a huge holiday thing 40 years after the fact.
Lizbot (host) 7:30:33 PM
@Rob from Scary Maryland 💀 🧛 🦀 - Stranger Than Paradise is so good. I love that early Jarmusch so much
Lizbot (host) 7:34:46 PM
@Dale Hazelton - Suspiria soundtrack? There was definitely a reissue a number of years ago. Cinevox put out one of the copies I have. I actually had a Suspiria film poster signed by Jessica Harper at the I-House in Philly over a decade ago, and it scared the crap outta my then-toddler, with the blood running down the womanon the poster, so I shelved it
Lizbot (host) 7:37:38 PM
@Dale Hazelton - Re: John Zacharle - DId you know he played a wizard - a departure from his signature "Roland" character - on the local access Philly kids show Captain Kangaroo I grew up with?!
Dale Hazelton 7:37:59 PM
yeah lizbot...i probably bought it in the import section of a huge buffalo record store called record theater, kind of the tower records of that area.
Dale Hazelton 7:39:03 PM
@lizbot - I JUST READ THAT on his wiki page. thought that was cool...
Lizbot (host) 7:39:42 PM
@Dale Hazelton - Buffalo felt kinda haunted when I visited it as a teen because my mom insisted we ride in their city hall super-old elevator because she loves old record-setters, and I think that was at the time (not sure if it's still there) one of the oldest elevators in the country!
Lizbot (host) 7:44:15 PM
@Dale Hazelton - Captain Kangaroo was great! The Please Touch Museum in Centennial Hall, Fairmount Park in Parkside, Philly (neighborhood where my dad grew up and played on the old centennial carousel) has pieces from Captain Kangaroo's old set on display in their basement!
Ossy 7:44:37 PM
liz for earlier - for sure really, tara is a all around voice experimental zany girl!!
Dale Hazelton 7:44:39 PM
i read that they modernized the elevators with new otis units. but it's like the charm of the wooden escalators at macy's in nyc's herald square. they are clunky and loud but worn by the feet of millions of shoppers.
Lizbot (host) 7:46:42 PM
@Ossy - She is like Cree Summer. She turns up everywhere!
Lizbot (host) 7:48:21 PM
@Dale Hazelton - I love the rollercoaster-like thrill of wondering "Will this break down with me on it" every time one rides a super-old antique like that! I always preferred the old wooden rollercoasters. They're so much bumpier but the thrill is more organic/gravity-based!
Ossy 7:49:10 PM
Liz - Cree, is THAT gal all around! A third and fourth all arounds Grey DeLisile and Tara Strong!!
ParrScream 7:49:42 PM
@Liz - Thanks for being the soundtrack to me watching my son's soccer practice. Do you post your playlist on PRB's site? I need to steal this entire playlist and add it to my Halloween playlist for next year.
