Welcome to Monday Jazz!
Patrick White (1) 12:09:03 PM
Greetings to Dan Or as they refer to him when he walks record stores….. NORM !!!
Marcus Watt 12:14:22 PM
I was just like Dan most of my life. I heard the term crate digger from a PRB dj.
Dan Buskirk (host) 12:14:39 PM
Just came from a store!
Richard Mitnick 12:19:26 PM
Good morning Dan, I may actually pledge again, but I am disappointed that WPRB is down to two Jazz programs.
Marcus Watt 12:20:08 PM
I loved Jack. Only saw him once at the Bijou Cafe, with John A., Eddie G., and Lester Bowie.
Dan Buskirk (host) 12:21:05 PM
I keep trying to hypnotize the younger generation to play more jazz but their Tik Tok conditioned eyes have set my power to wane.....
Anthony B. Creamer III 12:21:23 PM
One of Jack's last recording dates was with Ethan Iverson on his Blue Note debut, Every Note Is True.
Dan Buskirk (host) 12:21:32 PM
Hey Mark! Think I have that band in the wings.....
Marcus Watt 12:22:27 PM
I seem to have lost my copy of Cosmic Chicken.
Dan Buskirk (host) 12:24:18 PM
Those sticky fingered party guests!
Marcus Watt 12:25:14 PM
Funny, but definitely not.
Patrick White (1) 12:28:45 PM
RIP to Jack DeJohnette a true Jazz giant
Patrick White (1) 12:31:43 PM
I saw him in one of my few forays into the Kimmel Center. With Keith Jarrett and Gary Peacock. Circa 2008
Marcus Watt 12:35:33 PM
Sorry, it was the Main Point, not the Bijou.
Dan Buskirk (host) 12:38:44 PM
Both place hold a big spot in my imagination...
Anthony B. Creamer III 12:41:10 PM
I attended the second set at the Main Point. The bassist was George Mraz, not Eddie Gomez. I don't think there were more than 25 people in the audience. And it was one of the best concerts I've ever experienced.
Marcus Watt 12:42:48 PM
Thanks, Anthony.
Anthony B. Creamer III 12:43:33 PM
Jack, Abercrombie, Lester Bowie and George Mraz at Main Point. I remember Jack hassling the doorman. "I need the bread."
Anthony B. Creamer III 12:44:36 PM
He was playing a really small kit on that occasion. And beautiful cymbals.
Marcus Watt 12:44:44 PM
The first set was amazing too.
Anthony B. Creamer III 12:45:14 PM
Thanks Marcus!
Anthony B. Creamer III 12:50:59 PM
The New Directions group also played at Starrs on Bainbridge. On that occasion Eddie Gomez played bass. Both sets were sold out and Stephen Starr begged me to leave before the second set started and I politely refused. Another epic Jack night.
Dan Buskirk (host) 12:52:03 PM
Love hearing these old show stories. Why wouldn't my parents let me go to Philly and hang out at jazz spots as kid?
Dan Buskirk (host) 12:53:44 PM
Stephen Starr show promoter. I remember those days!
Marcus Watt 12:56:48 PM
Anthony, I've been trying forever been to remember where I saw Miles around '82. I think you got it. Thanks.
Patrick White (1) 1:03:20 PM
I saw Miles at Kool Jazz Festival at Penns Landing . Latin Mass style
Anthony B. Creamer III 1:03:58 PM
Marcus, Miles played Ripley Music Hall on South St just before new years eve in 1982. He had regular guitarist at the time Mike Stern, and some other guy on guitar, who was amazing. I went up to him afterwards and asked his name. He said it was John Scofield.
Marcus Watt 1:05:11 PM
Thanks again. It was Ripley.
Anthony B. Creamer III 1:05:19 PM
The Ripley was a warm up gig for the next night at Felt Forum space at MSG with Roberta Flack.
Patrick White (1) 1:08:15 PM
Just started up the car and somehow the Eagles were on. Jeff Lebowski forget!!!!
Dan Buskirk (host) 1:09:14 PM

Dan Buskirk (host) 1:29:44 PM

Dan Buskirk (host) 1:29:54 PM
Thanks for donating!
Marcus Watt 1:32:43 PM
Nice Sensible reference.
Dan Buskirk (host) 1:33:09 PM
Got it!
Patrick White (1) 1:39:14 PM
PRB fund raisers are the best. They never demand my old or used new car!!
The Mokster Mash 1:40:25 PM

Ears for Fears 1:43:39 PM
Hi @DB & all! I really enjoyed the film. Sorry I didn't introduce myself. Social anxiety was in high gear. BTW, I've been loving Darius Jones, Legend of e'Boi since during the summer some of it was played, maybe by you, not sure, I was in the car blasting it to the city
Dan Buskirk (host) 1:48:06 PM
Nice to meet you! Yes, I did play quite a bit of that Darius Jones on air, one of my faves from last year!
Patrick White (1) 1:54:30 PM
Good news Dan Angelos just opened a branch in Delaware. You can hand all those trendoids sitting on your steps a map of Delaware
Dan Buskirk (host) 1:57:15 PM
I'm usually blasting music as I creep through, hoping to convince the pizza zombie not to run under my wheels....
Dan Buskirk (host) 1:57:58 PM
Darlene Love and The Blossoms singing the backing vocals on "Monster Mash" btw....
Patrick White (1) 1:59:38 PM
Never knew that . Great Christmas song
Marcus Watt 2:02:09 PM
I miss Darlene's annual visit to the Letterman show.
Patrick White (1) 2:02:55 PM
She kept her word . Never did on another show
Tyler B. 2:08:03 PM
Tell em!
jim haku 2:09:49 PM
Grew up in S. Jersey just within the broadcast range, def changed my life.
Patrick White (1) 2:10:30 PM
I first listened to WPRB IN 1973 when for some reason they broadcast the NY Mets games
Patrick White (1) 2:12:48 PM
I told a punk rock musician friend of mine I was going to do lay him the new Nebraska album. He sneered and laughed but when he heard it he agreed it was great
Ears for Fears 2:13:39 PM
This is my 2nd year of putting my 💰 where my ears find ❤️
Dan Buskirk (host) 2:13:53 PM
Thanks, much appreciated!
Ears for Fears 2:14:20 PM
How much poorer I'd be without you all!
jim haku 2:14:23 PM
First listened when WDRE was at 103.9 and there was some overlap depending on the DJ and weather conditions I would get PRB tuned in. Soon became the favorite but I had to really tweak the antenna.
G Jax 2:19:02 PM
Is this so you can the KISS song over with quick? Man I'm still bummed out bout Ace. My childhood..
G Jax 2:21:11 PM
Funny hadn't actually listened to KISS in years but have been a lot lately. Say what you want about them but they were the gateway to my musical life. For me and a whole lot of other people.
Dan Buskirk (host) 2:21:40 PM
Just saw the Rec Ex was stocking a stack of Ace's solo record. Played "!0,000 Volts" last week, Rest in Space Ace....
Dan Buskirk (host) 2:22:25 PM
I had the multi-part "Rock and Roll Over" sticker on my closet door as a kid....
Dan Buskirk (host) 2:22:36 PM
And the foil "Destroyer" poster....
Marcus Watt 2:22:46 PM
I'm old, but more of a BöC fan .
G Jax 2:23:06 PM
Man I just wish SOMEBODY would play Strange Ways. My fav Ace guitar solo.
Dan Buskirk (host) 2:23:30 PM
Saw the "Black and Blue" concert movie on 35mm a while back....
Marcus Watt 2:26:43 PM
How odd that BÖC is run by two guys named Eric and Donald, same as Trump's two adult sons?
Patrick White (1) 2:27:43 PM
Not a big Kiss fan but always enjoyed hearing back in A NYC groove at the end of that wild Guide to Recognizing your Saints movie
Marcus Watt 2:28:14 PM
Secret Treaties is a really great album.
Patrick White (1) 2:29:41 PM
I liked hearing BETH on WTTM AM 820
Patrick White (1) 2:34:36 PM
Sorry AM 920 in Trenton.
Dan Buskirk (host) 2:35:34 PM
Jim White, drummer of The Dirty Three...
Ears for Fears 2:39:03 PM
will definitely listen
Patrick White (1) 2:47:29 PM
Thank you Dan. All listeners have a great rest of the week
Dan Buskirk (host) 2:49:38 PM
Thanks for checking in Patrick!
Ears for Fears 2:55:26 PM
Thanks, Patrick, & same from me!
Dan Buskirk (host) 2:56:35 PM
Thanks all who showed up. DJ Mackerel in the wings....
