Greetings to Dan Or as they refer to him when he walks record stores….. NORM !!!

I was just like Dan most of my life. I heard the term crate digger from a PRB dj.

Just came from a store!

Good morning Dan, I may actually pledge again, but I am disappointed that WPRB is down to two Jazz programs.

I loved Jack. Only saw him once at the Bijou Cafe, with John A., Eddie G., and Lester Bowie.

I keep trying to hypnotize the younger generation to play more jazz but their Tik Tok conditioned eyes have set my power to wane.....

One of Jack's last recording dates was with Ethan Iverson on his Blue Note debut, Every Note Is True.

I seem to have lost my copy of Cosmic Chicken.

RIP to Jack DeJohnette a true Jazz giant

I saw him in one of my few forays into the Kimmel Center. With Keith Jarrett and Gary Peacock. Circa 2008

Sorry, it was the Main Point, not the Bijou.

Both place hold a big spot in my imagination...

I attended the second set at the Main Point. The bassist was George Mraz, not Eddie Gomez. I don't think there were more than 25 people in the audience. And it was one of the best concerts I've ever experienced.

He was playing a really small kit on that occasion. And beautiful cymbals.

The New Directions group also played at Starrs on Bainbridge. On that occasion Eddie Gomez played bass. Both sets were sold out and Stephen Starr begged me to leave before the second set started and I politely refused. Another epic Jack night.

Love hearing these old show stories. Why wouldn't my parents let me go to Philly and hang out at jazz spots as kid?

I saw Miles at Kool Jazz Festival at Penns Landing . Latin Mass style

Marcus, Miles played Ripley Music Hall on South St just before new years eve in 1982. He had regular guitarist at the time Mike Stern, and some other guy on guitar, who was amazing. I went up to him afterwards and asked his name. He said it was John Scofield.

The Ripley was a warm up gig for the next night at Felt Forum space at MSG with Roberta Flack.

Just started up the car and somehow the Eagles were on. Jeff Lebowski forget!!!!

Hi @DB & all! I really enjoyed the film. Sorry I didn't introduce myself. Social anxiety was in high gear. BTW, I've been loving Darius Jones, Legend of e'Boi since during the summer some of it was played, maybe by you, not sure, I was in the car blasting it to the city

Grew up in S. Jersey just within the broadcast range, def changed my life.

I first listened to WPRB IN 1973 when for some reason they broadcast the NY Mets games

I told a punk rock musician friend of mine I was going to do lay him the new Nebraska album. He sneered and laughed but when he heard it he agreed it was great

How much poorer I'd be without you all!

First listened when WDRE was at 103.9 and there was some overlap depending on the DJ and weather conditions I would get PRB tuned in. Soon became the favorite but I had to really tweak the antenna.

Is this so you can the KISS song over with quick? Man I'm still bummed out bout Ace. My childhood..

Funny hadn't actually listened to KISS in years but have been a lot lately. Say what you want about them but they were the gateway to my musical life. For me and a whole lot of other people.

Just saw the Rec Ex was stocking a stack of Ace's solo record. Played "!0,000 Volts" last week, Rest in Space Ace....

I had the multi-part "Rock and Roll Over" sticker on my closet door as a kid....

And the foil "Destroyer" poster....

How odd that BÖC is run by two guys named Eric and Donald, same as Trump's two adult sons?

Not a big Kiss fan but always enjoyed hearing back in A NYC groove at the end of that wild Guide to Recognizing your Saints movie
