A score chock full of beautifully stirring tunes, but one that has also been controversial because of its glorification of abuse. One of my fave songs is If I Loved You. Carousel is the second musical by the team of Richard Rodgers (music) and Oscar Hammerstein II (book and lyrics). The 1945 work was adapted from Ferenc Molnár's 1909 play Liliom, transplanting its Budapest setting to the Maine coastline.

It's about time to watch Fish Called Wanda again. And Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Love those two.

When I was 15, my parents and I did a six week film series at The New School. Each week they would show a movie before it came out and the professor would talk to a couple people from the movie. One class was a screening of A Fish Called Wanda and the guests were Michael Palin and John Cleese!

I went up to them during the break because it was unlikely I'd ever have another chance to say something to either but I was basically speechless.

Rockers is still a good watch, even with its paper thin plot. I was just reading it was originally set to be a documentary but developed in to a film during production..

@Brian: I discovered that “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” was a superior remake of a tepid comedy called “Bedtime Story”. Marlon Brando played Freddy, David Niven played Lawrence, Shirley Jones played Janet and Dody Goodman played Fanny Eubanks.

Great movie theater memory here. High Anxiety. Saw this and also Harold and Maude around the same time. High Anxiety when it came out. Harold and Maude when it was showing again years later. Both at the Newtown Theater.

High Anxiety, definitely a movie I did not "get" when I was little until I had seen more of the films it was referencing.

Climb Every Mountain is another third best of mine! I also recall one Oscars night a few years back, they comically did a reference of The Von Trapp family escaping the theater from "the soldiers", when one of them said "They're Gone!"

not any song, david, but the daughter says is it possible to get hit by someone and not to feel it and that gets answered yes by her mother.
