62992e0783d90.jpg

The ghazal is a form of amatory poem or ode. There is a wide spectrum of presentation styles, but Mehdi Hassan sings them at the classical end, where the music is analogous to a thumri, but with more emphasis on the Urdu lyrics. In concert recordings, after a particularly poignant lyric, you can hear the audience reaction.

Sangeet Team (host) 9:05:26 AM
Good morning, DSM.
Brian D 9:06:47 AM
Ticket to Rut has an unintentional reference to tea. Specifically speaking, a tea kettle can be heard in the background.
Sangeet Team (host) 9:08:50 AM
That sounds like it should be a Rutles song, but I am not familiar with it.
Sangeet Team (host) 9:11:43 AM
Sangeet has been trying for years to get record companies to send WPRB more Indian Classical music, but have not gotten much response. This Bahauddin Dagar recording is an exception.
DSM 9:13:36 AM
Loving this
Sangeet Team (host) 9:15:54 AM
And it's over.
Brian D 9:16:10 AM

Sangeet Team (host) 9:16:14 AM

Sangeet Team (host) 9:16:58 AM
Ah yes, Brian. The "tea" theme runs through the Rutles quite a bit.
DSM 9:17:50 AM
Songs always end when I comment on them :/
Rt. Bimbisara 9:21:27 AM
Dave, are you still broadcasting from home?
Sangeet Team (host) 9:22:42 AM
Hello Rt. Bimbisara. I am still recording the show at home.
Rt. Bimbisara 9:24:03 AM
The reason I am asking is, I have a large collection of cassettes that I recorded during live concerts. High quality. I would like to donate them, if you are interested.
Sangeet Team (host) 9:27:12 AM
Thank you for considering us, Rt. Bimbisara. We generally are not able to use cassettes on the show. But if you could email us at Sangeet.wprb@gmail.com, the other Sangeet DJs can discuss the possibility and get back to you.
Rt. Bimbisara 9:28:17 AM
OK. Thanks
