I just got back from a great NYC trip on Tuesday, sadly had to miss DEVO on Wednesday night, much to my dismay, being they've been one of my all-time favorites since I was a kid, but I both managed to sprain my foot and wear myself out!

Ah, sorry to hear that. I felt like I was really done for a couple of nights ago, right before bed I felt really hot and cold and achey, did sweat sleep and assumed I was gonna wake up a mess, but it went away..... mysterious and I hope yours passes quickly as well!

@DSM - I'm glad your malady passed quickly! I am hoping for the same. Had crummy fitful sleep on Tuesday night, so was really tired all day yesterday with a lot to get done, then woke up today feeling like utter crud, but have a busy weekend planned, so hopefully I can rally or this just straight-up passes soon

@DSM - Not to complain, I had a great NYC visit other than the foot injury at the end of the trip! Saw a very funny revival of Little Shop of Horrors off Broadway at Westside Theatre, finally visited that Little Island Park floating island off Pier 55 that was completed last year, got to The Whitney Biennial, got to The Strand, had some good bahn mi, etc

OH, AND, I MET/TALKED TO LOREN MICHAELS!

@DSM - NBC Upfronts dinner - basically a giant cast party for the network with execs and writers as well, they hold every year that Sunday in May. It's when the network pitches to advertisers their planned line-up for next season in order to renegotiate commercial deals, and then they have a big flashy dinner afterwards at a restaurant in Columbus Circle. I already knew about it because I am in NYC that same weekend every year since it's a long weekend for me

@DSM - I like to see who comes out at the end cuz I stay near there anyway, and this time I saw Miley Cyrus (eh), Maritska Hargitay (I don't care about Law & Order, so whatever,) and some other TV ppl like Nicole Byer, but then Loren came out and he just stood 5 feet from me on the sidewalk talking to some writers for 20+ min, after which point I said "Hi Loren, thank you for SNL and Kids In the Hall and all that you do!" and he was actually really friendly and smiled and thanked me...

@Ambrose - I was just watching earlier today a video Dana K took of Mark dancing with orange pom-poms at the DEVO show last night. Former WPRB DJ Abbie from Mars was there too, and a buncha other friends and acquaintances. Wish I could've been there! Had to come back from NYC by Tuesday at the latest, so even if I hadn't mess up my foot or gotten sick, I wouldn't have been able to rush back up again the next day - too much to catch up on!

There are songs I liked back then that stood the test of time and others I'd rather not revisit, even though I still like many of them, they just are too associated with one particular time or feeling, but that one I love to go back to

@Rob - My favorite Matmos bill was with Princeton Laptop Orchestra and So Percussion many years ago. Since that show, So Percussion got a music dept. residency at Princeton and I subsequently saw them perform there a handful of times. I miss seeing them easily after my shows!

@Andrew - In other bands who began in the 90s reuniting shows this summer, I am seeing a band who never broke up but is celebrating the anniversary of one of my favorite albums of theirs this summer- They Might be Giants "Flood" album anniversary tour, which was rescheduled so many times since 2020, is finally happening this June!

I bought the ticket when they first went on sale pre-pandemic to see with my TMBG-loving friend show usually goes with me to their shows, and the subquent reschedule dates were fine, but now it's on my anniversary and my husband isn't a TMBG fan, so I am TORN. Also, I will be down the shore and driving from LBI to see them if I still go.
