dj aneek has got those summer blues...in march?

one thing about dj aneek, she loves brunch. think about it, the best parts of breakfast and the best parts of lunch COMBINED to form one beautiful amalgamation of meals. waffles, pancakes, fried chicken, shrimp and grits, mimosas, lobster with grits, biscuits and gravy, steak and eggs and potatoes, hash browns, and omelettes????? can a meal get any better? we will celebrate brunch in all its forms. grab a knife and fork, stuff a napkin down your shirt, and CHOW DOWN.

If there is one thing about me, I love cinnamon toast crunch. I love the curious little squares coated in cinnamon sugar begging to fall into a milky abyss. There is something so alluring and beautiful about them -- a philosphical paradox waiting to be explored. This episode is dedicated to Cinnammon Toast Crunch and I am playing music that is emblematic of how those beautiful squares make me feel.

dj aneek has found herself at odds with the authorities. apparently misrepresenting your income to IRA is a crime now? who knows. anyway there's this weird contraption on my ankle and i can't leave the state of New Jersey, so I decided to compile some local bands who were kind enough to stay within the state while making their music, so it is okay for me to play!

this week has been a very lucky one for dj aneek, not in the traditional sense where i won the lottery or stumbled across a pot of gold but more in the "i was crossing the street and a car came barreling at me and came to a screeching halt before it could hit me" sense. here on indie indie we celebrate luck in all its forms, even when it really is the kind of luck that makes it so that you feel nauseous but only have to vomit once, the kind that makes you break your favorite pen but you remember you bought an extra, the kind that makes you forget an assignment is due but your professor is sick so they'll never know, essentially the kind of luck built on maybe not be the luckiest but having the plot armor to supersede it. in honor of our not-so-lucky luck, we're gonna be playing a bunch of songs of 7-inches, lucky number 7 for a lucky week.

dj aneek has had enough of people places and things this week. she wants to be above it all like an orb in the sky merely a spectator in all the world's affairs. sometimes dj aneek wishes she was a hermit crab with a really cool conch shell with flames on it so she could retreat into her shell and not have to deal with people places and things. keeping to the anti-people theme, no vocals this show, only ambience. let the ambience consume you as you make your way to the beach to pick out a shiny shell and make like a hermit crab and retreat into the abyss...

despite dj aneek's cynical nature, they actually do love love. love is great love is beautiful. love gives you wings, not redbull. sit back and let the love consume you. eat some chocolate with your lover (yes single people you are your own lover and that is completely okay). let us lament about love, mull over love, and sip on some rose and think pink. this is the lovey dovey power (two) hour(s). feel free to talk about your lover (or lovers!), sip on some wine, eat some heart-shaped chocolates, and let some hazy red and pink hues consume you this morning.

Every generation has a prophet. I think of the Greek tragedy of Cassandra, a woman cursed by Apollo to possess the power to prophesize events yet never to be believed. Cassandra walked the earth, ridiculed for her gift. We may believe that story of Cassandra has come to end, but there lives an individual who lives to carry on her tragic, prophetic tale: Punxsutawney Phil.

Phil has been cursed to roam the earth with prophetic visions of how the tempest will act. Despite his want to communicate these weather patterns to us, humanity disregards him and lashes out at him whenever he warns us of 6 more weeks of frost. This show is dedicated to this sacrifices he has made. Thank you Phil.

recently, i've been playing a concerning amount of pool. no assignments? pool. want to get out of doing some chore? pool. pre-dinner game anyone? what about post-breakfast? i planned this show when i had time away from my double life as a pool player. despite how terrible i am at the game (my friends say im the worst they've seen) the game never ceases to allure me. i love the sounds the cue ball makes when you manage to hit a ball or the feeling of sinking the ball you needed for the win. most of all, i love listening to music while my friends trash me for being so awful at pool. this is a collection of music that my friends loved (and sometimes hated, but who cares) that i played during pool. think of sinking the final 8 ball of the game while listening to this list. °❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:･

It has been so cold out, like illegally cold. Crawling out of my bed to get into the studio was a feat. DJ Aneek has braved the elements, heaved off her blanket, crawled to the closest Wawa to get a coffee, and very gently pried CDs out of their cases (breaking a couple jewel cases along the way) to put together this show for you. You could say I am very brave. Wintertime is a season best enjoyed for a day outside when it first snows and subsequently inside as you dream of wearing cuter clothes and warmer weather. Since we're all inside, wearing a ratty sweater or hoodie, some wholesome indie beats might be the best thing to listen to alongside some hot chocolate. If this show puts you to sleep in an armchair with a weighted blanket draped atop of you, I have done my job.
