I listened to about 100 minus 30 sleep hours of the 4 day 100 Hour John Coltrane Celebration on WKCR. That was wonderful.

I attended a service at the Coltrane church in San Francisco. I think Coltrane would not have approved of it. His spiritual quest was much wider than the narrow Christian iconography that the church presented him as part of. Plus they tried to prevent me from leaving the hours-long service before it ended. Very cult-like, Not recommended!

Thanks for another great show Jerry. My daughter gets married in the back yard tomorrow. We expect a big storm. Should be exciting and memorable. I just spent $900 to get the sides added to the tent. I'm hoping that is the juju needed to steer the storm another direction so it was a waste of money. Today;s show is the sound track for setting up.

I always enjoyed Frank Tiberi's tenor sax artistry when he was with the Woody Herman Thundering Herd.

The bari sax is really gettin' down on this tune.

I did a tribute concert a long time ago to John Coltrane where I collaborated with Larry Harlow and we wrote and performed a song together. The whole event was aired live on WRTI - It was a heady affair. Oliver Lake played at it too.

It was at International House - I'd love to hear a recording of that.
