Greetings & Salutations

Who is Doug Huts?!?

OOPS! Typo fixed. Thank you MrM

You made it worse L0LZ

That's sort of what I do here.

Well…

I definitely wish you’d quit ruining Music by talking about TheNews. Three mins into the show today.

But TheNews drops a new album like every day!

Also, I was very non-specific.

Not everyone shares your vision of the Sads. You don’t want to know a Malcontent's Perspective. We just aren’t capable of believing any propaganda, even the stuff that everyone else believes in order to feel good about the world.

Here for any / all Mac Davis memes

.... put the towel under the door.... bubbling sounds... cough

Hard to believe that was Lydia Lunch, more of a Courageous Cat riff.

@iConJohn indeed that is her noir jazz record. It's great! And I do love a Courageous Cat reference.

In an appt rn, however, yay on the Mac Davis, & nay to "news". I put a lot of effort into dodging that fiction. Or faction.

And hiya Mike & the Pit crew.

News should be acknowledged, but not dwelled upon. This is where we meet each week to make quiet plans in darkness, steeling ourselves for an uncertain future.

Or some such playful folly.

me and my wife are plannin on tying on a load

Seems a bit early for that, but fair.

laments of a younger generation

Indeed. I'm still waiting for the soft spot on my skull to close up.

TOOTS! That was great

@Brian, yeah, that one is like hall-of-fame great. So uplifting.

The Storm Bugs' "The Bugs are Back" ~ what a Total HOOT! :-D

@Richard - they're great. Formed and started releasing records in the early 80s. Signal went dark for decades but then they just reactivated within the last few years.

Marc Ribot slashing it away!

Is it? Did not know!

Marc Ribot was Tom Waits secret weapon all through this era ya

Nice!

I quite like both of these Audible Beauty releases.

Marc is in the live TW film some great playing with that wacky camera effects etc. Big Time

@Jon, what's the other one?

That Don Cherry / Oregon (band) thing from Ypsilanti Mi 1977 last night was great Jon. Got that on my list. Wild ride that.

Thanks, Brian. There's a 28 minute piece on that record that's almost equally excellent but I thought the tones of the one I chose fit the evening better...

They just went with it and had a great groove going. Love the lil "Nature Boy" bit that pops up

Hello Mike!

love that twangin low low bari guitar

Howdy Marcus, welcome!

Hello Jon! Can't stay just wanted to let you know if it rains for PorchFest it's officially the curse of 169 Witherspoon St. You've been warned.

Bye!

LOL

The twangiest twang that ever did twang.

Marcus clearly does not play!

The Geraldine Fibbers "California Tuffy," which I think was directed by Bozulich, is my all-time favorite one-take music video, maybe my favorite music video period.

Nice, I will check it out! The F-word song I mentioned is "Dragonlady", which also has a great video.

The quality of the version on YouTube is terrible, which is a shame -- though not inappropriate for something that captures the whirligig energy of a bunch of talented kids killing time and making art in a basement with a handful of puppets, a box of matches, and some furniture dollies.

There's something in watching Nels Cline guitar-sync a solo on an instrument with a broken neck that perfectly duct-tapes destruction and creation together.

And I will check that one out!

Yeah, the YouTube version is supper low-quality. Sort of like my memories of that era -- like a VHS tape with shitty tracking.

Sometimes that's just how the world looked, back then.

Aye.

Well-played choice here.

Could've gone with Coltrane himself, but instead decided on "sing it, college boy!"

Rode the 100 Hour Trane on WKCR for the previous 4 days. Save for a bit of Jon's show on the drive I had last night. It was great to be in totally immersed in the John Coltrane world for 4 days. Love that they do that. Miles 3 days event earlier this year. Big ol 100 year for Jazz.

Learned last night that around the time of his death Mark E. Smith was working on a cover of...

...Madonna's Material Girl.

Shaddapa-you-face?

I was close.

YEAH!!! M.E.S.Good guitar work on this one. Stuttery skippy cool guitar... searching...Pete Greenway. A good gtr part here ya

BLONDIE!

Elisapie is great! Check her Bandcamp page -- excellent stuff, even beyond cheeky cover songs.

Shaddap-ah you face-ah.

Hahaha, thank you.

Guy sounds like he's nutzoid.
