TODAY I'm doing a slightly shortened Doubleplusgood episode from 5-7:30 PM and THEN we'll simulcast The Sun Ra Arkestra LIVE at Princeton’s McCarter Theatre from 7:30 to 9:30ish PM! Chat will remain open throughout!
Number 6 5:00:44 PM
Greetings!
Lizbot (host) 5:00:50 PM
Hi Number 6!
Number 6 5:01:35 PM
I'm out of town, so can't go to the concert, but I'll be listening.
Rofflelectic 5:03:09 PM
What #6 said fits in my box too. :)
Richard of Rocky Hill 5:04:33 PM
@ Lizbot (host) Lizbot and a Sun Ra Arkestra live feed. This is Quadruple Plus Good! :-D
Lizbot (host) 5:05:45 PM
@Number 6 - And now the show is SOLD OUT, so all the better that we'll have it live on air!
Lizbot (host) 5:05:51 PM

@Richard of Rocky Hill - Yes! An exciting night of broadcasting here at WPRB!
Lizbot (host) 5:06:59 PM
Hi addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍!
addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 5:07:26 PM
I’ve gotta miss the concert tonight, it’s my first night at a new choir!
Rofflelectic 5:07:31 PM
The free air tickets are so lovely, but not as delicious as a live show. Still tasty however...
Jon Solomon 5:08:09 PM
Hello from McCarter Theatre. Shaping up to be a special evening.
Rofflelectic 5:08:18 PM
Choir? Cool ddie!
Lizbot (host) 5:08:34 PM
Hi Jon Solomon! Looking forward to it!
Lizbot (host) 5:08:52 PM
@Rofflelectic - I will be eating those for dinner!
Rofflelectic 5:08:57 PM
Says mister live shows! lol
Lizbot (host) 5:09:22 PM
@addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 - Exciting! I hope it's a fulfilling experience! I loved singing choir!
Rofflelectic 5:10:10 PM
I think Jon is on to something there.
addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 5:11:12 PM
@Roffle & Lizbot it’s the Transcendent Philly Choir, for trans and nonbinary singers!
Ted 5:12:06 PM
If anyone wants to hear last week’s Sparks concert from Paris, go to pastdaily.com and search for Sparks. It will be the top result (over 1974 Sparks show and 2015 FFS show). Pastdaily is a radio geek’s paradise. And music fan’s paradise. Enter at your own risk.
Lizbot (host) 5:12:14 PM
Hi Ted!
Lizbot (host) 5:12:48 PM
@addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 - Nice! I have to come watch you perform some times if you have any upcoming shows, pls let me know!
Rofflelectic 5:14:18 PM
Brilliant addie! I am leaving my castrati questions at the door. :)
Lizbot (host) 5:14:56 PM
@Ted - Oh sweet! I heard something about their Paris show audio being available, but I hadn't checked it out yet! Ron & Russell keep busy!
addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 5:15:44 PM
@Lizbot that would be lovely!
Lizbot (host) 5:17:46 PM
@addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 - I'd love to go!
Rofflelectic 5:18:52 PM
I going to the river and listen for a while, because I can. Back in a bit.
Lizbot (host) 5:20:02 PM
@Rofflelectic - Sounds good, but also sweaty. It's so hot in Princeton right now! I hope there's a breeze! Enjoy!
addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 5:21:53 PM
@Lizbot has the giant puffball mushroom met its fate yet?
Stephen Bluhm 5:22:13 PM
hello all
Lizbot (host) 5:23:20 PM
Hi Stephen Bluhm! Serendipitous timing - I actually have yr song queued up next
Stephen Bluhm 5:23:42 PM
wow!
Zach 5:24:18 PM
I was listening to the new Sleep album and forgot to switch back over for Lizbot. Hi Lizbot!
Lizbot (host) 5:25:38 PM
@addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 - haha, no! Last I checked it is still residing on our porch-swing and it's ENORMOUS. I kinda wanna see it punted as high as George can kick it, but I also am curious to cook it. I read it just has to be white throughout. If any part turned another color inside, it's not safe to cook? I am a little nervous about that though because I have a sensitive stomach!
Lizbot (host) 5:25:45 PM
Hi Zach!
Lizbot (host) 5:26:18 PM
@Zach - From Sleep to this fairly poppy episode of ++good today! Was it a jarring transition?
addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 5:26:54 PM
@Lizbot go for it!! They’re so tasty!
Zach 5:27:20 PM
Well Spotify had wandered off after the album was done so it wasn’t a direct switch
Lizbot (host) 5:27:40 PM
@addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 - So I've heard! Think it's okay that it's been sitting outside plucked from the ground for about a week sitting in this heat??
Lizbot (host) 5:27:54 PM
@Zach - ah, WPRB prevails!
addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 5:28:16 PM
Should be ok if the inside is still white! Cut it in slices!
Zach 5:31:58 PM
Looking forward to the Arkestra!
Lizbot (host) 5:33:23 PM
@addie “5 snakes” plum 🐍 - Making me hungry to think about! I do love mushrooms, but I'm so weary about hunting for them outside because I fear eating wrong kind!
Lizbot (host) 5:33:35 PM
@Zach - Should be a good show!

Hello addie
Arlene Machiavelli 5:51:10 PM
Hi LIzbot! Hi everyone! Psyched to catch most of the show today before I have to go teach my class at 4 Pacific. Loving this Kiwi Jr track and never heard them before. Greetings from San Diego!
Lizbot (host) 5:51:53 PM
Hi Arlene Machiavelli!
Lizbot (host) 5:52:39 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - I'm glad you're digging it! How're things in SoCal? Princeton is hot and steamy and full of undergrads now!
Lizbot (host) 5:52:54 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - Freshmen very much back on campus!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:53:28 PM
The *are* singing tardigrade!!
Lizbot (host) 5:54:43 PM
@Ted - I will play a Sparks track later in the program in honor of that Paris and because I've gone too long without playing Sparks!
Lizbot (host) 5:55:59 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - Har, I refuse to throw shade at tardy tardigrades!
Lizbot (host) 5:59:06 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - I'm putting out an open call to artists for more songs about tardigrades, trilobytes, nautiluses or nautili!
Arlene Machiavelli 6:02:47 PM
@lizbot finally the weather is lovely again-- 75 and breezy! we were roasting over here last week, whew! my rental has no AC since we are close to the coast "and you don't need AC".....meanwhile my house is 87 degrees at night LOL

Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:04:31 PM
@Lizbot, yes for the open call. Also, would you mind playing another Railcard song?
Randy Marthins 6:06:25 PM
They also have trilobites, nautili, shoebills, dodos, ... there might be a bachutherium in there?
Lizbot (host) 6:07:44 PM
Hi Randy Marthins!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:09:28 PM
@Randy, hi, they do have a Baluchitherium in there, under its current name Paraceratherium
Lizbot (host) 6:11:06 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - Sounds wonderful, I'm jealous over here in hot & humid Jersey! Last week sounded rough, though! I have some friends in L.A. who were griping about that heatwave and I don't blame them!
Lizbot (host) 6:11:50 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - Hrmmm, I might get to more Railcard, we'll see! But I'm gonna run outta time earlier than usual! They have short songs, though, of course!
Lizbot (host) 6:12:36 PM
@Randy Marthins - You know, I get ads in my feed all the time for those Gage Beasley beasts and I must say it's tempting!
Ted 6:12:59 PM
The intriguing Cosmo Sheldrake did “Tardigrade Song” there’s hope
Lizbot (host) 6:14:27 PM
@Ted - Okay, adding that to my list! Also the name "Cosmo Sheldrake" is most excellent.
Lizbot (host) 6:14:44 PM
@Ted - Cueing up some Sparks soon
Ted 6:20:25 PM
Great choice!
Lizbot (host) 6:20:50 PM
@Ted - This album is so solid!
Lizbot (host) 6:21:09 PM
@Ted - I love the line "I was born just twenty-two hours ago, But I want to go, back to my former quarters"
Arlene Machiavelli 6:21:28 PM
Yay always good when Lizbot plays Sparks!!
Ted 6:22:31 PM
Manchester weirdos Henge toured with Gong last year. They have a dancing Tardigrade video.
Lizbot (host) 6:22:41 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - I had been too long!
Lizbot (host) 6:23:17 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte is way up there in my list of favorite Sparks albums of the past 15 years
Lizbot (host) 6:23:37 PM
@Ted - oooh, I must see that!

Lizbot (host) 6:27:43 PM
Hi Mary Jones!
Mary Jones 6:27:59 PM
Lately I’m driving when the show is on and can’t comment!
Lizbot (host) 6:28:06 PM
@Mary Jones - Attempting to put my Duo French to the test!
Lizbot (host) 6:28:23 PM
@Mary Jones - Well I'm glad you've been able to tune in, though!
Mary Jones 6:28:31 PM
Ooo, you and Dennis are both doing Duo French!
Mary Jones 6:29:11 PM
@Lizbot yep, we’ve been listening, but we’re either working or on our way to the movies or something
Lizbot (host) 6:29:16 PM
@Mary Jones - haha, I knew basically nothing when I went to France last summer for that family wedding. Now I'm 422 days in and I know SOME stuff!
Mary Jones 6:29:50 PM
@Lizbot it’s cool you’ve kept it up!
Lizbot (host) 6:32:08 PM
@Mary Jones - I wish I hadn't had such an old crappy phone for so long or I would have started using Duolingo years earlier! It's pretty addictive! I finally replaced my ancient dying phone a month before that France trip and being able to get apps like Duo was part of the reason why, I'm very stubborn and resentful about replacing electronics!
Mary Jones 6:34:06 PM
@Lizbot I completely understand that—I put off upgrading until the last minute.
Randy Marthins 6:34:57 PM
@lizbot " I was just there a couple weeks ago, lurking the Emily Dickinson House with my daughter!" every month I receive a newsletter from the Edward Gorey ppl, and I'm always tempted to become a member of "the house" even though I can never foresee myself going up to The Cape for any reason
Mary Jones 6:35:09 PM
I really like Duolingo, I’m most consistent with Spanish, but it’s nice to try out other languages too
Lizbot (host) 6:35:45 PM
@Mary Jones - Ooof, I hate the newer AI-filled models, but even before that, I just hold onto tech until it's so old it's barely functioning!
Dennis Lingg 6:35:49 PM
I work on French Canadian documents at work, so I figured I should try it out. It’s kind of cool when it matches up with Italian and German.
Randy Marthins 6:37:37 PM
Ca plane pour moi
Lizbot (host) 6:38:11 PM
@Randy Marthins - I'd go to the Edward Gorey house! My school-teacher mom arranged many summer roadtrips when I was growing up to places like the Mark Twain House, The House of the Seven Gables, Louisa May Alcott's house, etc. My kid thinks it would be very cool to work at the Emily Dickinson House as a tourguide if she ends up going to college in Western Mass. A lot of student guides work there. She loves history and lit history!
Lizbot (host) 6:38:20 PM
Hi Dennis Lingg!
Mary Jones 6:38:49 PM
Moi moi moi moi
Lizbot (host) 6:40:05 PM
@Randy Marthins - Love me some Plastic Bertrand! Can't play the Damned english language version on the air!
Lizbot (host) 6:40:47 PM
@Dennis Lingg - I love learning languages and finding some overlaps in other romance languages I know better, ie: Spanish!
Lizbot (host) 6:41:48 PM
@Mary Jones - I don't mind that Duolingo "game-ifies" things cuz that gets me doing my lessons more! I always took Spanish in school and college. Now I fearI
Lizbot (host) 6:42:19 PM
@Mary Jones - Now I fear I'm pushing some of the Spanish outta my brain to make room for French! But I had to use Spanish somewhat recently in person and it was fine!
Mary Jones 6:44:54 PM
@Lizbot honestly the game-aspect is what keeps me hooked, I need to keep my streak!
Lizbot (host) 6:47:14 PM
@Mary Jones -EXACTLY. I was about to complete my Monthly Badge challenge at 11:45 pm on Aug 31st and the teen insisted I watch a movie with her and I was TORN, but I chose move!
iConJohn 6:47:35 PM
Bought the Plastic Bertrand record decades ago and now I feel cheated like a Milli Vanilli fan.
Lizbot (host) 6:48:17 PM
@Mary Jones - I like that having done a lot of Spanish gives me a leg up on Italian, though I never took any Italian or did Italian Duolingo, just watch a lot of Italian movies and listen to Italian music
Lizbot (host) 6:48:23 PM
Hi iConJohn!
Lizbot (host) 6:49:52 PM
@iConJohn - haha, it's just a little plastic, it's still good, it's still good!
Dennis Lingg 6:50:07 PM
@Lizbot I kept looking for an Italian Dtar Wars before we left for Italy. We just missed seeing Gladiator 2 in Rome, just down the street from the Colluseum.
Mary Jones 6:50:23 PM
@Lizbot oh definitely, I’m finding a lot of vocab crossover with Spanish and Italian!
Lizbot (host) 6:50:39 PM
@Mary Jones - We MIGHT get to Italy for the first time next summer...Emphasis on "might," but if we do, I will surely hit you and Dennis up for recommendations!
Lizbot (host) 6:51:02 PM
@Dennis Lingg - Drats!
Dennis Lingg 6:51:46 PM
The Uffizi gallery in Florence is my favorite museum.
Mary Jones 6:51:50 PM
@Lizbot oh, fingers crossed for you! Yes, let me know if you need any recommendations/ideas!
Samuel Cusumano 6:51:53 PM
Ah I love aluminum tunes thanks so much, Lizbot!
Lizbot (host) 6:52:06 PM
@Mary Jones - Yes, definitely tons of crossover! My college best friend grew up in Paraguay and majored in Spanish (seems unfair!) but took Italian as a minor and we both took an Italian neorealism class and nerded out on language overlap!
Lizbot (host) 6:52:24 PM
Hi Samuel Cusumano! Happy to play it, glad you enjoy it!
Dennis Lingg 6:52:39 PM
Floating in the pool listening to Stereolab… that’s the stuff!
Randy Marthins 6:55:04 PM
@lizbot - when I was a kid in CT, my pediatrician's office in Hartford was across the street from mark twains house
Dennis Lingg 6:55:57 PM
@randy I’ve visited that house, it’s so cool! I love his attic writing parlor.
Randy Marthins 6:56:28 PM
We've gone to Robert frost's house in VT, too
Randy Marthins 6:58:00 PM
A friend of mine "tried" to decorate/furnish his house in the Twain style, including the upstairs pool table

@Randy Marthins - Cray! My childhood gymnastics class building was in front of the creekbed where the Hadrosaurus dino fossil was discovered, but I had no famous authors nearby!
Lizbot (host) 7:05:48 PM
HI TAndy!
Lizbot (host) 7:07:21 PM
@Randy Marthins - My mom loves the Thurber House. She had to go to Columbus a lot for conferences and it was her favorite place to visit there. Subsequently, she has a lot of Thurber hats and shirts!
Randy Marthins 7:09:38 PM
@lizbot - um Debra Hill!!! "Halloween!!!" The Meyers (real name) lived down the street from me at Rhoads Ave & Grove Street --- I think Debra Hill lived near Lizzie Haddon?
Stephen Bluhm 7:09:47 PM
Watt told me in the interview about visiting the Walt Whitman house in Camden
Randy Marthins 7:10:46 PM
My mom & stepdad are buried in the same cemetery as WW in camden
Alex from Media 7:10:54 PM
Uh oh was that a violation? Sorry about that.
Lizbot (host) 7:11:27 PM
@Stephen Bluhm - Yes, I've been there many times! My family friend Rocky Rainbow gives tours there! He is often sitting on the stoop and impersonates Whitman for events like when the City of Phila had an official Whitman 200th Birthday celebration years ago! Funny guy, always has a puppet!
Randy Marthins 7:11:46 PM
In the "Veteran's" section overlooking the Cooper Rive - it's actually kinda nice, where that are
Tomi 7:12:37 PM
Spacemoth! <3 Any La Luz fans in the chat?
Ossy 7:12:39 PM
hi liz
Lizbot (host) 7:12:40 PM
@Stephen Bluhm - Worth checking out his grave in Harley Cemetery, Camden as well! Old family friend the haikuist Nick Virgilio is buried very near Whitman's grave. The cemetery is a 5 min drive from where I grew up
Lizbot (host) 7:12:44 PM
Hi Tomi!
Randy Marthins 7:12:59 PM
PLUS, I worked at Campbell's ... And D'Kid went to Rutgers-Camden, so I am familiar
Lizbot (host) 7:13:01 PM
@Alex from Media - No worries!
Lizbot (host) 7:13:05 PM
Hi Ossy!

Lizbot (host) 7:14:20 PM
@Randy Marthins - Harley is such a pretty cemetery, I drive past it going from my mom's house back to Philly all the time. I grew up going to a Catholic church in Camden where they had Whitman readings, (it was an unusual church!)
Lizbot (host) 7:14:28 PM
@Ossy - Nice!
Randy Marthins 7:14:39 PM
When we went to my moms "final resting" and driving the twists & turns of the cemetery I thought "what a great place to run!"
Randy Marthins 7:15:18 PM

Randy Marthins 7:15:57 PM
Also, near the legendary Buff Hall

Lizbot (host) 7:16:54 PM
@Randy Marthins - Yes! My dad was a runner and loved to run in cemeteries. He grew up in West Philly and ran in cemeteries there as well as all over Fairmount Park, used to take me with him when I was little.
Lizbot (host) 7:17:44 PM
@Randy Marthins - Re: Bluff Hall - The firefighter place??
Number 6 7:21:35 PM
@Lizbot- I hope that you will be listening on the DAW, and not that crappy boombox there.
Lizbot (host) 7:21:53 PM
@Number 6 - I'll be listening on the DAW
Number 6 7:22:20 PM
Much better fidelity!:)
Randy Marthins 7:23:02 PM

Ossy 7:23:09 PM
Philadelphia had a recent bike race
Alex from Media 7:23:38 PM
@ number6 and Lizbot, what is the DAW? (I'm not a radio person)
Number 6 7:24:38 PM
You can stream stuff on the net into the mixing borad.
Randy Marthins 7:24:50 PM
@ossy - YES THEY DID!!! I saw only the Womens race on 6ABC before heading down the shore but it looked AWESOME!!!
Number 6 7:25:14 PM

Alex from Media 7:25:31 PM

Randy Marthins 7:25:37 PM
We discussed it MUCH on Slowtwitch
Lizbot (host) 7:25:41 PM
@Randy Marthins - Flag of Democracy! I saw FOD more than a few times!
Danosaur🦖 7:26:02 PM
Hi Lizbot and fellow chatters!
Lizbot (host) 7:26:16 PM
@Randy Marthins - There is a guy in that punk show photo that looks so much like the young version of my husband, I had to do a double-table!
Lizbot (host) 7:26:22 PM
Hi Danosaur🦖!
Number 6 7:26:25 PM
Almost time for the big show!
Chef Emeril Lagasse 7:26:27 PM

Randy Marthins 7:28:31 PM
I reconnected with Nancy as her book was in development, we came to realize that her BF and D'Wife not only went to HS together but would party together - Alison was the driver!!!
Rofflelectic 7:28:37 PM
Just back from the river, nice breeze. Dopey birds. Just right.
Rofflelectic 7:29:06 PM
Loved me some Sparks too. Thanks.
Alex from Media 7:29:14 PM
Thanks Lizbot!
Lizbot (host) 7:31:34 PM
Thanks Rofflelectic!
Lizbot (host) 7:31:43 PM
Thanks Alex from Media!
Number 6 7:31:53 PM
I was lucky enough to see Sun Ra back in the day when he was still alive, at the long gone Painted Bride.
Lizbot (host) 7:31:58 PM
@Randy Marthins - Oh nice!
Lizbot (host) 7:33:40 PM
Just keeping this +good going til the band takes the stage!
TAndy 7:34:01 PM
Thanks Lizbot! Glad I was able to wake up in time to catch your show before the transition over
Number 6 7:35:01 PM
Too bad that there's no video of the performance.
Randy Marthins 7:36:20 PM
@number6 - "at the long gone Painted Bride." Speaking of Isaiah Zagar, If you watch Reacher, theres part of a chase scene through Magic Gardens
Number 6 7:36:47 PM
Cool!
Ossy 7:39:27 PM
like these two songs!
Rofflelectic 7:41:00 PM
I best someone is ready to click sticks and count it up. I just juessing here.
Rofflelectic 7:41:54 PM
Well I can't spell, but I nailed it! lol
Lizbot (host) 7:43:14 PM
SUN RA ARKESTRA Live Simulcast has begun! Was distracted by tech stuff over here, but I'm back in the chat!
Jon Solomon 7:43:49 PM
Sounds like you’re right in the room (had to duck out of the room to confirm).
Lizbot (host) 7:44:15 PM
@Jon Solomon - Sounds very good over here on the DAW
Lizbot (host) 7:45:25 PM
Oh this sounds great! I love Tara M (Jupiter Blue)'s voice!
Zach 7:46:42 PM
Compliments to the engineer
Lizbot (host) 7:47:01 PM
@Rofflelectic - Just missed the spoken intro! But got the first song!
Rofflelectic 7:47:24 PM
Oh, this mic is in the room. This is not board. Love it!
Lizbot (host) 7:48:00 PM
@Ossy - I'm glad you dug those songs! I couldn't catch up on the chat until I made sure everything was a-ok with the Sun Ra broadcast, but now that we're cooking, I'm catching up!
Lizbot (host) 7:50:18 PM
@Randy Marthins - Oh crazy! I have heard of this "Reacher". Don't know if it's my kind of tv show, all I know is that he is a very tall big man named Jack who..reaches?? But cool that they incorporated the Magic Gardens! I almost got married there but we decided against because I had a lot of old relatives at my wedding and the mosaic crazy spiral stairs at the gardens are NOT easy to navigate for anyone shaky on their feet!
Lizbot (host) 7:51:25 PM
102 is not bad! Marshall Allen is a wonder!
Rofflelectic 7:51:36 PM
This world needs more ramps for the gramps.
Lizbot (host) 7:51:50 PM
@Rofflelectic - haha, for real!
Zach 7:52:31 PM
Had to make sure to listen for Marshall Allen
Lizbot (host) 7:54:56 PM
@Rofflelectic - A couple friends who book music series, Dustin at Bowerbird and Steven at Fire Museum, booked shows at Magic Art Gardens in the past, in one of which I played keyboards (it was a celebration of the spring equinox and there were several improvising duos. My keyboard was crammed into one of those deep mosaic pits with me balancing on stairs to play it! But it was a very fun show to play. We even had interpretive dancers!
Lizbot (host) 7:55:01 PM
Hi Zach!
Lizbot (host) 7:55:41 PM
@Zach - I am so glad the audio is sounding good!
Lizbot (host) 7:56:17 PM
@Zach - I'm just disappointed to miss the spoken intro. Had a small tech snafu but all good now!
Lizbot (host) 7:58:10 PM
@Rofflelectic - Only thing that went wrong at that Magic Gardens show was an audience member began scaling one of Zagar's mosaic walls using some of the green glass bottles that jut outta the walls as hand-holds, and he broke a couple of them! We has to boot that guy!
Rofflelectic 7:58:31 PM
OMG, awkward performance art! Lets go there! That simulcast is why have not died yet! LOL
TAndy 7:59:07 PM
Wow the live sound is incredible! Seriously wish I was there
TAndy 8:00:10 PM
I'm fortunate to have seen them a few years ago at the Anchor Rock in AC
Rofflelectic 8:00:11 PM
That piano left hand was and is gorgeous!
Zach 8:00:20 PM
Everything’s sounding great. I kinda like that the words were reserved for the people in the room. Layers of artistic experience.
Rofflelectic 8:02:09 PM
Are you holding this for the whole show Lizbot?
Lizbot (host) 8:03:29 PM
@TAndy - Oh nice! Yeah they're always great live! Most recent time I saw them was last spring outside on the Ben Franklin Parkway in a pocket park. Loved seeing Arkestra members Dave & Tara's little daughter playing at that show. What a cool family to grow up in!
Lizbot (host) 8:03:46 PM
@Rofflelectic - Yes, I'll be here 'til the end
Rofflelectic 8:03:54 PM
Sweet!
Number 6 8:04:03 PM
The Magic Secret Decoder says that almost 200 people are listening in online, as well as countless numbers OTA!
Lizbot (host) 8:04:17 PM
@Zach - Good point! Yeah, that makes me feel better!
Lizbot (host) 8:04:46 PM
@Number 6 - Nice!
B 8:05:18 PM
I missed the beginning of the show, can anyone tell me what notes they played?
Rofflelectic 8:05:29 PM
Number 6, I trust your math, being the numbers man that you are. :)
Lizbot (host) 8:05:51 PM
I saw the Arkestra play "Nuclear War" with Yo La Tengo at The Trocadero in Philly about 25 years ago. They did a fun little dance!
Number 6 8:07:06 PM
@Rofflelectic- Ha!
Lizbot (host) 8:07:20 PM
Saw them at Awbury Arboretum in Germantown a few years ago with lots of audience props for participation and Marshall and crew danced their way through the crowd!
Guelo 8:09:59 PM
The outfits are just way too good, get me every time. Dancers moving amongst the crowd and clearing energies rn!
Rofflelectic 8:10:13 PM
This is a jam, I must plug in and pissoff at least one neighbor. Oh well...
Lizbot (host) 8:10:24 PM
Hi Guelo!
Lizbot (host) 8:10:29 PM
Hi B!
Number 6 8:10:31 PM
@Lizbot- You have the dates wrong on the playlist, off a few months!
Number 6 8:11:03 PM
Okay, corrected now.
Lizbot (host) 8:11:27 PM
@Guelo - Yes! The Arkestra manages to give me chills. Magical events!
Lizbot (host) 8:12:02 PM
Oh damn, love this song!
Lizbot (host) 8:12:13 PM
@Number 6 - haha, I noticed that a minute ago. Yeah, wishful thinking that it was still July!
TAndy 8:12:51 PM
JAM ALERT 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨
Lizbot (host) 8:12:55 PM
@Rofflelectic - Maybe the neighbors will fall under the spell of the Arkestra!
Lizbot (host) 8:14:17 PM
@TAndy - Excellent! Imagine many porches and open windows of living rooms throughout the tri-state area and beyond blaring the cosmic stylings of afro-futurist jazz for their neighborhood!
Rofflelectic 8:14:37 PM
Maybe so, these guy brings nice magic.
Guelo 8:14:54 PM
Brass section in the crowd!!
Rofflelectic 8:16:21 PM
This so fucking good!
Zach 8:16:59 PM
This is triple plus good
jimbooooo 8:17:15 PM
Yo TAndy, I was at that Anchor Rock show, too!
Rofflelectic 8:17:38 PM
Riffing across the treetops! Awesome, awesome, awesome!
Lizbot (host) 8:19:39 PM
@Guelo - I love when their processions! The show in Philly along the Ben Franklin Parkway last spring, actually it was September of last year!, it was organized by Arto Lindsay from DNA and the whole thing was called "Chaos and Kisses". My husband and I were part of the procession. Went from LOVE Park down the Benjamin Franklin Parkway to Maja Park (little pocket park close to the new Calder Museum!)
Lizbot (host) 8:20:14 PM
Had a Brazilian drumline, Dance Circus Theatre dancers running in and out and forming human sculptures, pHONK!, Pig Iron and the whole thing culminated with the Arkestra!
Number 6 8:20:23 PM
I'm glad when the Halloween crap starts showing up in the stores, it means that fall is just around the corner.
Lizbot (host) 8:20:29 PM
@Rofflelectic - For real!
Lizbot (host) 8:20:47 PM
@Zach - haha, yeah, it's triple creme!
TAndy 8:21:26 PM
Jim I remember! Was that you roaming around with your phone camera leading cheers between tracks?
Lizbot (host) 8:21:32 PM
@Number 6 - These the Halloween stuff is there in July!
TAndy 8:21:51 PM
I also remember hurting my foot from standing in the same spot for those 2-ish hours straight. Worth it
Rofflelectic 8:22:03 PM
Now you're scaring me Number 6.
Gary ryan 8:22:21 PM
it really is the greatest radio station in the history of radio stations. Thanks to everyone that makes it possible. I am kicking myself for not going.
jimbooooo 8:23:08 PM
I just remember bliss, one of my kids was with me...fun road trip!
Guelo 8:24:04 PM
Amazing lizbot idk anything bout tjat
Number 6 8:24:14 PM
Soon the merchandisers might start selling Christmas stuff in July. They keep pushing it back so much.
B 8:25:05 PM
What song is this? They played it at the city winery
Rofflelectic 8:26:09 PM
@Gary ryan, the fucking genius that wanders into this zone is beyond compare. That is why I show up.
jimbooooo 8:26:21 PM
Saw Arkestra in New Hampshire within the past year or so, and while initially bummed that Marshall was not there, they were even MORE unhinged because he wasn't there to keep them in line!
Rofflelectic 8:26:44 PM
Not that I am that one, but I am here for it.
B 8:28:03 PM
Does anyone know whatsthe song they played just before this? The one about the ufo
Guelo 8:34:52 PM
So far out.
Guelo 8:35:02 PM
So happy for Marshall chillin with his gf hahahaha
Rofflelectic 8:35:10 PM
Where is ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 𓀡, this is his lane. :)
Lizbot (host) 8:36:30 PM
B - I recognize some of the songs, but I'm more paying attention to the levels on the board. Tara Middleton singing now
Lizbot (host) 8:36:54 PM
@Guelo - Yeah, MA deserves to retire!
Lizbot (host) 8:37:53 PM
Hi Gary Ryan! MIssed your comment earlier. So glad you're enjoying it!
Mike Lupica 8:39:12 PM
Vibes incredible here at McCarter!
Lizbot (host) 8:39:14 PM
@Number 6 - Noooo! And boy oh boy is "Christmas In July" such a crock!
jimbooooo 8:39:21 PM
Maybe DJ Jerry Gordon can piece together the setlist after the fact!
Lizbot (host) 8:39:41 PM
Hi Mike Lupica!
Mike Lupica 8:40:06 PM
Hello! Just loaded out all of the DJ gear from Buskirk's set, and now I am impossibly in need of a shower.
Jon Solomon 8:40:09 PM
Either that or setlist.fm!
Lizbot (host) 8:40:12 PM
@jimbooooo - Love it! I took the kid to the arboretum show
Jon Solomon 8:40:39 PM
(Hello from the lobby, where I have decamped to and am enjoying the show from my phone.
Number 6 8:40:41 PM
I hope that they are making a video of this. would be great to watch.
Lizbot (host) 8:40:43 PM
@Jon Solomon - I checked setlist.fm. Not up yet
Lizbot (host) 8:41:26 PM
@jimbooooo - I recognize a lot of these songs from previous shows, but not really wracking my brain for titles!
Jon Solomon 8:41:34 PM
Listen to that clapping!
Zach 8:41:37 PM
WPRB DJ VIP party in that chat jeez
Jon Solomon 8:41:50 PM
Someone would have to be updating the set from inside the room…
Lizbot (host) 8:41:55 PM
@Jon Solomon - I hope the outfits are plenty sparkly tonight!
Lizbot (host) 8:42:25 PM
@Jon Solomon - Did a good number of people show up for the pre-show Dan B set?
Rofflelectic 8:42:40 PM
Gordon will add context for sure! He is just there.
Lizbot (host) 8:42:46 PM
The setlist was coming from inside the room
Jon Solomon 8:42:56 PM
Yes a decent number including a couple in WPRB shirts.
Jon Solomon 8:43:25 PM
Running out of pins and stickers to give away.
Lizbot (host) 8:44:02 PM
@Jon Solomon - Nice! Most recent Sun Ra Arkestra setlist I see on setlist.fm is the Storm King show on Aug 15gh
Randy Marthins 8:44:11 PM
@number6 - "I'm glad when the Halloween crap starts showing up in the stores, it means that fall is just around the corner." it's not CRAP!!! It's next year's inventory
Lizbot (host) 8:45:05 PM
@Jon Solomon - Oh yeah, that crazy procession Arto Lindsay organized with the Arkestra last September for the opening of the Calder Museum had quite a few WPRB shirts in the crowd!
Guelo 8:45:13 PM
Giant steps kinda?
Lizbot (host) 8:46:04 PM
@Guelo - yeah DM Hotep from the band mentioned they'd be paying tribute to Coltrane
Jon Solomon 8:46:18 PM
Per request, a band photo.
Jon Solomon 8:46:27 PM
https://bsky.app/profile/jon.wprb.com/post/3munqfbosg22t
Lizbot (host) 8:46:41 PM
It's the 200th Anniversary of Coltrane's birth
Rofflelectic 8:46:44 PM
Lordy, lordy I have a draw full of pins and stickers iif you need'em.
Jon Solomon 8:46:56 PM
I did also step into an open dressing room and take a shot of a robe but let us keep that off the Internet…
Wesley Days 8:47:03 PM
!00% the GS changes
Lizbot (host) 8:47:22 PM
Hi Wesley Days!
Wesley Days 8:47:43 PM
hey!
Lizbot (host) 8:48:02 PM
@Jon Solomon - ha, as long as you didn't step into said robe...BUt then again that would make an amazing photo!
Lizbot (host) 8:49:41 PM
Coltrane-a-thon!
Lizbot (host) 8:49:59 PM
He was born September 23, 1926
Rofflelectic 8:51:17 PM
Earned a ramp through the front door!
Zach 8:53:05 PM
There’s something about listening to a concert live on the radio that’s just really cool and rare and unique and I’ve been having a blast, thank you all for making this weird thing happen.
Rofflelectic 8:54:38 PM
Fuck yes Zack! Fuck yeah!
Zach 8:55:27 PM
lol thanks Roffle
Mike Lupica 8:55:34 PM
Word to that, Zach.
Lizbot (host) 8:56:18 PM
@Zach - Yes! I'm loving hearing it from my end in the studio. It's a portal!
TAndy 8:57:21 PM
God that live audio reverb sounds ethereal with the vocalizations. This is beautiful
Lizbot (host) 8:58:16 PM
@TAndy - Haunting. Tara also sings in her own band called Jupiter Blue thats worth checking out. Saw her and Dave perform as JB a couple times, but the best was in an aviary in Fairmount Park!
Jon Solomon 8:58:21 PM
Yeah this room sound is superb.
Rofflelectic 8:59:47 PM
It also sounds really good on air. It's great, I think the mics are well placed. IMHO
Rofflelectic 9:00:25 PM
Sounds like a room
Lizbot (host) 9:00:54 PM
and DEMONS!
Jon Solomon 9:01:01 PM
Nice ID.
Lizbot (host) 9:01:12 PM
@Jon Solomon - Thanks!
Lizbot (host) 9:01:34 PM
I think "and DEMONS" was the loudest thing in this whole show!
Rofflelectic 9:01:46 PM
Professionals! lol
Lizbot (host) 9:02:08 PM
I actually queued this song in my playlist in case I needed to fill any time after the show and before the next DJ but I won't be playing it now!
Lizbot (host) 9:02:36 PM
@Rofflelectric - Great! Yes, sounds great on my end! Lots of people on the ground making sure it went well!
Zach 9:02:43 PM
I’m listening from my basement along with my clunky typewriter sounds and it’s just a whole different decade down here right now hahaha
Chef Emeril Lagasse 9:02:51 PM
This is all excellent and BAM, thank you for doing this
Lizbot (host) 9:03:36 PM
@Zach - I hope there's a big fern spilling outta a macrame hanging planter next to that typewriter
Rofflelectic 9:04:07 PM
Clunky typewriter is the band to end all bands!
Lizbot (host) 9:04:41 PM
Hey Chef Emeril Lagasse! BAM! Happy to help facilitate it!
jimbooooo 9:05:11 PM
Hope there's a macrame OWL
Richard of Rocky Hill 9:05:22 PM
The Arkestra is indeed in glorious interstellar flight! Profuse thanks to McCarter and WPRB for sharing this cosmic show. D'ya think we could persuade Elon Musk to donate an X rocket for the purpose of cruising over to Venus and seeing/hearing if there are any more like Sun Ra there ~ and bring them back? (Or did The Master say he was from Jupiter? Or Neptune? Or ... ?)
Zach 9:05:26 PM
Alas no, I write on my flip top, multi-saw work bench because it’s much bigger than my actual desk.
Rofflelectic 9:05:39 PM
I think I should copyright that one, It's just too funny!
Rofflelectic 9:06:09 PM
Well Zack should, I'm just sayin'
jimbooooo 9:06:49 PM
Roffle! https://bostontypewriterorchestra.com/
Zach 9:06:58 PM
Haha all yours
Lizbot (host) 9:07:02 PM
@jimbooooo - YES! Must be a big clunky macrame owl and a sunburst sculpture nearby, and some orange toadstools
jimbooooo 9:07:33 PM
...and oversize wooden spoons/forks on the wall
Lizbot (host) 9:08:24 PM
@jimbooooo - I saw a small local Philly typewriter orchestra at Mt Airy Village Fair years ago. The leader was appropriately sporting round wire-rimmed spectacles
Guelo 9:08:50 PM
Bandleader doing cartwheels and frontal flipping movements watxh out!!
Rofflelectic 9:09:07 PM
Monkeys on typewriters scare me, because that is how I see AI.
Lizbot (host) 9:09:42 PM
@jimbooooo - My parents bought their house in 1971. It still has wood paneling in the back room and my mom's collection of decorative mushroom detritus.
jimbooooo 9:10:02 PM
Nice, Bot!
Lizbot (host) 9:10:29 PM
@Rofflelectic - I'll taken even the "Monkey Shines" demonic capuchin monkey and all his buddies armed with typewriters over AI any day!
Rofflelectic 9:10:42 PM
Ten thousand AI monkeys in a millisecond.no longer need ten thousand years...
Lizbot (host) 9:11:16 PM
@Guelo - haha, getting acrobatic! I hear the WHa! wha! sound effects that accompany those movements!
Rofflelectic 9:12:11 PM
These guys are jammin out!
Lizbot (host) 9:12:16 PM
@jimbooooo - Sadly the woven and adorned with wooden beads curtains of my youth did not survive into the 21st century!
Mike Lupica 9:15:05 PM
Dig the crying baby
Lizbot (host) 9:15:05 PM
Baby has made itself known!
Jon Solomon 9:16:01 PM
👶🏻
Lizbot (host) 9:16:09 PM
@jimbooooo - A lot of chipped earthenware in there too. I grew up with a lot of orange and brown! But the best thing my mom has in there i a sign she found at a flea market on one of my parents' first dates depicting a loafy purple galloping raisin that says "I love you because you love raisins". Then they went ahead and had two raisin-loathing children
Rofflelectic 9:16:47 PM
Groups that know where they are going is just a lovely thing to behold. Give that baby a reed pacifier.
Lizbot (host) 9:17:03 PM
Baby percussive sounds. Baby added an exclamation point in the middle of that story
Lizbot (host) 9:17:51 PM
Give that baby a sparkly robe, stat!
Jon Solomon 9:18:08 PM
Can I get more baby in the monitor?
Rofflelectic 9:18:24 PM
More baby bell!
jim haku 👏 9:19:08 PM
Nice night.
Lizbot (host) 9:19:34 PM
@Jon Solomon - Baby on the toy trumpet
Zach 9:19:43 PM
Babies famously love jazz
Lizbot (host) 9:19:48 PM
Hi jim haku!
Lizbot (host) 9:19:55 PM
@Zach - Facts.
Lizbot (host) 9:20:16 PM
It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that baby-sling
jim haku 👏 9:20:56 PM
Hello! Crying baby is a Rufus Harley vibe.
Lizbot (host) 9:22:04 PM
@jim haku - Get that baby a bagpipe!
Jon Solomon 9:22:27 PM
That is an underrated line, Liz.
Lizbot (host) 9:22:55 PM

Lizbot (host) 9:23:14 PM

Zach 9:23:55 PM
Can the baby confirm that it smells like WPRB’s records?
Rofflelectic 9:24:25 PM
9:30 I must love my neighbors and go to headphones. A baby bag is a mommies friend! Daddies also have some skin in the game.
