I just saw my friendly neighborhood spider headed toward my spider plant by the window. Works for me. Spiders always get a pass around here. Not so much when I lived in Texas. :)

A spider in a spider plant. Aw! Make a kid's book about that cuteness. I agree. I keep the spiders they help me with the other bugs. I hear ya though.. our PA/NJ spiders won't kill you

I've been seeing a lot of cute cartoons about jumping spiders online lately. They are pretty adorable little guys.

Fell free to run with your book concept. If I wrote a children's book, it would turn into an epic horror novella in short order, putting the Brother's Grimm to sham as light weights. But yes, they are the bug police, and I respect their athorata.

Ha! Perfect! It makes me think of the classic show/books, Goosebumps.

That was great kid stuff. I love the that older kids get it intuitively and like the ride. Spooky is cool. But that was still on the rails at least.

There is a fine line of things.

Doom metal is rather inspirational. Whatever dopey else I might say today, I'm sticking with that. :)

nope. That got big i think once I got out of high school. I did see the first movie though.

I've told young people who've read Twilight (mostly young ladies) that LOTR is for boys what Twilight was like, when it was very popular among young ladies. I haven't read Twilight though.

Twilight was a bridge too far with the genre for me.

I am pumped to read it.

Twilight was HUGE...and I remember the LOTR movie being the biggest thing EVER.

I am never up with the trends.

I would say also The Hobbit is worthy, but it cames from a different angle.

The music that we enjoy on PRB marks us as untrendy, I think.

When I was in high school, we were assigned to read The Hobbit one summer. When we returned in the fall, everyone had read LOTR too. Since that's the order I met Middle Earth, I think it's the way to go.

And popular music gets worse and worse. We should be proud to be outliers.

In highschool, the first Harry Potter book was on the list so I read that... good stuff.

I will keep the order in mind. I think I might start movies first then Hobbit book then LOTR.

I haven't toured Hogwarts, but I have watched dome of the movies with my neices.

Yeah when I was in highschool, the popular stuff was NOT doing it for me so I got into metal bands from Europe. You gotta do what gotta do.

I'd read he Silmarillion after LOTR. It's more like a history book than a novel.

I did not enjoy school reading lists at all. BUT Harry Potter made me LOL while reading soo just saying,

The Hobbit movie addresses the LOTR way more than the book. But once you read them together it just works and the Appendixes are a whole new journey.

Same here with me. Except there seemed to be a higher percentage of "outlier" types in my school. LOTS of nerds (I'm a card carrying memeber).

Oh Debbie, once you start down the LOTR hole, you'll find it's almost unending.

Tolkien's son (who died not too long ago) cobbled together his father's writings to produce a lot of other books. I mean lots! I've only read a few of these.

That's awesome for the fans.

It was a good school. I enjoyed it. I would have hated the "neighborhood" high school.

The Appendices are in the end of the last LOTR books.
