Marcus 5:58:25 PM
Teresa: the "hag" is not a reference to to woman's appearance but a comment on her friend group (rhymes with hag)
David Shortell 5:58:41 PM
Aside from "9 to 5", the only acting I know Dolly for was the infamous 1984 film "Rhinestone" with Sylvester Stallone.

The most radical reworkings of "Paint It Black" I've heard are on Eric Burdon & the Animals' "Winds of Change" album (1967) and Eric Burdon & War's "The Black-Man's Burdon" album (1970).
Esoterica (host) 6:14:14 PM
need to check those out, david. eric burdon is ike the dick shawn of rock n roll.
Esoterica (host) 6:14:24 PM

David Shortell 6:14:38 PM

Angry Samoans!! Sach Trust!
David Shortell 6:19:09 PM

I think it was Jerry that did a fantastic show covering for you one night. Corny New Wave hits but he had amazing stories about meeting the bands many of which were at his 3rd St Jazz legendary store in Philly. Still have many records that I bought in the basement there. And I do enjoy the third hour of Jerry's Friday show.
Teresa Peacock 6:27:39 PM
I love Amazona so much! I picture a couple at a fine dining establishment, having a romantic dinner, when suddenly, they realize their champagne toast was dosed.
Esoterica (host) 6:28:56 PM

G Jax 6:53:25 PM

Mats Sabbath 6:55:17 PM

Amy Lee 6:56:24 PM
I had the honor of working at 3rd st in the 90s - it was post Jerry though.
Esoterica (host) 6:56:53 PM
nice, amy lee!
G Jax 6:58:48 PM
Man Aerosmith was the shit back then. I’m so burnt out on them I could never purposely listen to them, but boy when I happen upon them like just now I realize how great they really were
Amy Lee 6:58:58 PM
G Jax - I'm the same so it surprised me how many tears I've shed. I'm a big fan, but still...has never been a factor w/prev celeb deaths
G Jax 7:01:28 PM
yeah, I don’t get celebrity worship in general, I guess. But I don’t know some about Dolly connected with me. Hell, she connected with everybody I mean, could anybody? Would it even be possible to not like Dolly Parton. I don’t know. But yeah, sitting on my desk at work today. I was like wow man I’m getting all misty.
David Shortell 7:03:11 PM
That Alice Cooper song reminds me of this similarly titled track by The Eagles: https://youtube.com/watch?v=fPrAYhFOAKc
Esoterica (host) 7:05:13 PM
doesn't gibbons' voice sound like bob seger here?
G Jax 7:05:30 PM
The best people ever are born June 11. Frank Beard. And Me!!!! ha ha I didn’t know he was born the same date as me. Fantastic drummer ZZ Top was just another great band and largely because the drumming was so damn good.
Esoterica (host) 7:06:10 PM
happy belated, G Jax!
G Jax 7:06:42 PM
Thank ya
Esoterica (host) 7:06:42 PM
i agree dolly connected with everyone - what an angel.
G Jax 7:07:50 PM
That’s dusty singing by the way that ain’t Billy. Billy singing background.
Esoterica (host) 7:08:19 PM
right! thanks for correcting me, G Jax.
Esoterica (host) 7:08:52 PM
didn't dusty sound a little like seger?
Esoterica (host) 7:09:01 PM
i love seger's voice
Esoterica (host) 7:09:13 PM
this is one tight band
G Jax 7:09:27 PM
I do hear it on that song. He does sound a little Seger like
Esoterica (host) 7:10:31 PM
my brother ronnie love to sing this - he cracks me up haha
G Jax 7:10:51 PM
dusty’s voice was way more in your face than Billy’s. Tush is the big one. I love beer, drinkers, and hell razors that’s cool because they both trade off versus.
Esoterica (host) 7:11:19 PM
oh yeah - they trade off on heard it on the x too
Esoterica (host) 7:11:29 PM
i love that vocal styling
Esoterica (host) 7:11:50 PM
cheap sunglasses btw never gets old to me i love it
Esoterica (host) 7:12:02 PM
even with all the ariplay
G Jax 7:12:34 PM
Heard it on the X even better.
Amy Lee 7:12:49 PM
Dolly was just a powerhouse. She did so much beyond music.Side note- One of my fav interviews w/her was when the library of congress celebrated the 100millionth free book for her imagination library.
Esoterica (host) 7:13:55 PM
unrelated to the frank beard homage ha
Esoterica (host) 7:15:31 PM

Amy Lee 7:17:06 PM
I know - sorry (post-stroke, takes me awhile to think about what I want to say/type, so, usu off-topic once I figure it out!)
G Jax 7:17:24 PM
Funk 49 it’s such a great kegger in the woods song
Esoterica (host) 7:17:51 PM
yeah and summer, too
G Jax 7:18:03 PM
yeah, let me be a teenager in the 70s again
Esoterica (host) 7:18:04 PM
where you would have a keg in the woods
Esoterica (host) 7:18:28 PM
we had "the trees" which were in sandy river beds in east county SD
Esoterica (host) 7:18:47 PM
no one could afford a keg
G Jax 7:19:18 PM
we were Cherry Hill Marlton in the Pines. Everywhere was woods back then.
G Jax 7:19:52 PM
nobody any money we just all chipped in
Esoterica (host) 7:20:21 PM
oh yeah
G Jax 7:21:13 PM
i’d like to be young again, but I hate to be a kid today. Know what I know. Classifies as a kid today I wouldn’t know what I I didn’t know. That was a lot of words to say not much wasn’t it
G Jax 7:21:35 PM
and he makes no sense cause I dictated it and it came out wrong. Oh well.
David Shortell 7:22:47 PM
I’m not a Smiths expert so when I saw the new movie “The Stranger” in Princeton, I was shocked to hear their 1979 song about the Albert Camus novel during the end credits!
Esoterica (host) 7:23:13 PM
ha, david
Esoterica (host) 7:23:30 PM
no i got it G Jax

Esoterica (host) 7:24:59 PM
yes:)
David Shortell 7:26:10 PM
Reading about the film "Zachariah" now, I just discovered it was cowritten by the Firesign Theatre and the screenwriter of "Wonderwall"!
Esoterica (host) 7:29:04 PM
wow interesting
Teresa Peacock 7:30:29 PM
This Wild Dog Rodeo track is absolutely nuts! I mean that in the best way! I love this fuzzy, scuzzy, groovy tribal sound.
David Shortell 7:30:45 PM
I prefer the version of "You're So Vain" recorded by ABC-TV's Odd Couple (Tony Randall and Jack Klugman).

Like many, I learned of Édouard Manet's “Le Déjeuner sur l'herbe” via its photographic recreation on the jacket of Bow Wow Wow’s first LP. More recently, I saw a 3-D recreation at Grounds For Sculpture in Hamilton Township!
