I saw a great video of Pavement at The Khyber with Gary Young on drums last night. The whole set is on YouTube. Real fun.

is it like a dark room with hooded shadowy figures who cast judgement on whether or not you become a dj? Is there a blood initiation? Mysterious. Like the Freemasons.

I did know this, Pickled Eggs. But my daughter got us movie tickets.

Also, watching Pavement on Friday outdoors made me realize I've seen them outdoors at least three times and two of them were in weird locations.

They played on the lakefront at Northwestern during the big outdoor end of school year concert and were introduced by a Drag City employee acting like he was the DJ from a local alternative radio station. The crowd hated him!

Perhaps the prior year they played outside a sports bar with beach volleyball courts in Louisville around Kentucky Derby. 3Ds, Evergreen and The Coctails opened! Ran into The Coctails at a gas station the next day on my way back to Chicago...

There is scant evidence of this 1994 Pavement show in Louisville and since the venue was Cliffhanger and a band called Cliffhanger has a song titled "Pavement" my searches are nonsense.
