Christine just read a great history book about the current Mann Center then known as Robin Hood Dell west . Great stories about iconic Philadelphia conductors and big time performers

I know which one it was. 😊 This song really turned me around emotionally and put me in a much better frame of mind. I heard it one night in WRTI driving home from work; that was circa 2000. It was 'Water From an Ancient Well" by Abdullah Ibrahim.

I had a rain ambience video playing while listening to Jerry's show that day, and that song + the rain sounds = so calming and soothing and beautiful

@Patrick, I'll have to re-play that song today. I didn't realize it was chosen the anti-apartheid anthem but it certainly deserves to be.

In the early days of Classical Discoveries listening I never envisioned being able to hear Marvin’s show through speakers in my water bottle

Romeo Cascarino was a graduate of SOUTHERN HIGH in South Philadelphia. Tremendous music program fueled by demanding immigrant Jewish and Italian teachers.Many great musicians had roots there.

Former PRB host Classic Ross Amico is a big Cascarino acolyte

Blades of Grass was inspired by the Carl Sandburg poem, "Grass," on the futility of war. This poem inspired Cascarino and when performed, he liked it to be read before the music was played.
