Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:08:34 PM
Hi Patrick! Oh yes, the Bicentennial... I bought 100 albums celebrating America's Revolution, and when the bicentennial was over, I still had 97!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:09:20 PM
This is how you feel after the war is over.
Roffleaphonic 12:09:22 PM
I sure miss those revolutions.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:10:12 PM
I do believe we're having one now
rick hallahan 12:10:51 PM
Remember that Gil Scott-Heron famously said that "the revolution will not be televised".
Roffleaphonic 12:11:05 PM
I really need to get a pitchfork at home depot later.
Patrick White 12:11:23 PM
Happy Saint Thomas the Apostle day. Shout out to Tommy Dorsey,Tommy Smith,Tommy Flanagan,Tommy Potter,Tommy Turrentine,Tomasz Stanko,Thomas Bryant, Leon Thomas, Carla Thomas, Thomas from the Worried Waltz.
Patrick White 12:13:14 PM

Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:13:30 PM
It is being broadcast on every new show, me thinks
Roffleaphonic 12:13:49 PM
Let's not forget Tommy Walker, the Pinball Wizard!
Patrick White 12:14:09 PM
A sad moment 50 years ago for Russ Just Jazz converts into …………. Disco.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:14:34 PM
Look out on the street for a guy in his underwear and a pitchfork, it's "Rofflephonic"
Roffleaphonic 12:16:55 PM
That would be me, but on bike my with it strapped to my back. :)
Patrick White 12:17:17 PM
Hepcat coolness tip. Watch the World Cup on the Spanish Station instead of those funeral parlor British announcers
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:17:24 PM
Easy Rider Rofflephonic
rick hallahan 12:18:08 PM
GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:18:32 PM
On this day in 1976, Jerry was hawking US History albums at 3rd and Market
rick hallahan 12:19:53 PM
Maybe Benny Krass was across the street hawking leisure suits.
Roffleaphonic 12:20:20 PM
@Patrick, I am just hoping for an obituary of hopefulness' by tomorrow, so this celebration can kick in proper.
Roffleaphonic 12:21:40 PM
Not naming any names of possible people but we all know who he is.
Mike Constantine 12:22:00 PM
On this day in 1976 I was putting wooden pilings under a house in the Wildwood Bay
Patrick White 12:22:34 PM
Due to FCC REGULATIONS Jerry will not be playing Richard Pryor 1976 lp Bicentennial Something or Other
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:23:09 PM
Nice, Mike, back in your He-Man days!
Roffleaphonic 12:23:29 PM
I got grounded and my friend already had bought me a ticket to go see the Stones. Teen trauma.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:23:30 PM
Patrick, it was certainly worthy!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:24:24 PM
Greatest comedian ever, along with Lenny Bruce
Mike Constantine 12:25:02 PM
I was in line for Rolling Stones ticket for the 72 tour and it sold out with three people in front of me
Roffleaphonic 12:25:43 PM
Ever get to see them? I never did.
Mike Constantine 12:26:19 PM
Never...that 2 tour was the one to see

With Stevie Freekin Wonder opening
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:27:58 PM
Wow!
Roffleaphonic 12:28:12 PM
I was wanting to go to see them at Vet Stadium for the Bicentennial. I forget who else played.
Mike Constantine 12:28:23 PM
That would have checked two boxes
Patrick White 12:28:54 PM
Let’s not sleep on George Carlin
Roffleaphonic 12:29:56 PM
Stevie Freekin Wonder! That's so top shelf!
Mike Constantine 12:30:28 PM
Right?....ugh
Roffleaphonic 12:31:42 PM
Carlin, is just what I need to add to an AI agent. Hmmm...
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:31:58 PM
I got to see them 10 years ago at the FU center with a friend who played tennis with Ed Snider. My buddy obtained $250 tickets for everyone in our card game
Patrick White 12:32:04 PM
It was 50 years ago local bicentennial entertainment options…..Tammy Wynette,Fifth Dimension Josh White,Elton John ,Harrowgate String Band,Lou Monte , Toots And Maytalls,Johnnys Dance Band and that old school rap originator Gerald R. Ford.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:32:57 PM
Haha!
Roffleaphonic 12:33:16 PM
Although the AI will probably tell me to not be such a schmuck.
Mike Constantine 12:33:30 PM
$ 250 ticket must have been pretty cool
rick hallahan 12:34:25 PM
Jerry, you were p_______ with the big dogs!
Roffleaphonic 12:35:07 PM
$250 and a better line up than Coachella.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:35:35 PM
Pooping? Yeah, I paid for those tickets in losses at the poker games
Roffleaphonic 12:36:05 PM
No free lunches. LOL
Mike Constantine 12:36:20 PM
I absolutely suck at poker
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:36:49 PM
Rick, a good arrangement on an otherwise crappy album
rick hallahan 12:37:28 PM
Yes, indeedy.
Patrick White 12:37:49 PM
They asked if he was wary of getting shot again. He said those Philadelphia Hoes don’t scare me . I was Big 10 All American
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:37:58 PM
Haha, Mike! What man would admit that? only a Folk-Hero like yourself
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:38:41 PM
That's one of my favorite Gerald Ford rap records. Killer!
Mike Constantine 12:38:45 PM
Certainly not a card hero
Patrick White 12:39:27 PM
Gordski my soundtrack for a muted Viva Las Vegas. Ann Margret never looked better
Lance Gardner 12:39:32 PM
Hi Jerry. OK: astute listeners and Jerry My Brain hernia needs help too. Early to mid seventies acoustic guitar masters. I seem to remember three. Leo Kotke Robbie Basho and I can't remember the third if he exists. Any thoughts to help me out.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:39:45 PM
Patrick, didn't he due a duo with Nelson Rockefeller?
Ossy 12:40:10 PM
Afternoon jerry
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:40:13 PM
Hey Lance! John Fahey?
Patrick White 12:40:42 PM
Rocky went out doing what he loved most. A straight up G..
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:41:09 PM
Hi Ossy, how are you? We've got some good stuff for you in Jerry's Room today!
Mike Constantine 12:41:13 PM
John Fahey
Patrick White 12:41:35 PM
When it comes to 1970 s guitar masters I’m thinking maybe the guy from Starland Vocal Band.
Roffleaphonic 12:41:36 PM
I would add Paco De Lucia to that list myself.
Lance Gardner 12:41:49 PM
You are the Man! Must have slapped some mesh on that hernia.....
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:42:00 PM
Hmmm
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:42:18 PM
But Lance, Fahey may not be the right answer.
Roffleaphonic 12:42:26 PM
Although one could argue the fine points of "acoustic"'
Lance Gardner 12:42:30 PM
That name sounds familiar, too Thanks
Lance Gardner 12:44:00 PM
I believe that's correct Jerry (J. F.)
Lance Gardner 12:44:47 PM
At least to my geezer brain.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:46:23 PM
The only reason I hesitate is because he was popular going back to the sixties, but I believe Fahey is the best answer.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:47:08 PM
Watch out! That man has a pitchfork!
Lance Gardner 12:47:41 PM
Back to the pool. Thanks everyone, please be careful in the heat
Mike Constantine 12:47:43 PM
Looks like a trident to me
Mike Constantine 12:57:37 PM

Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:58:42 PM
Haha!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:59:11 PM
Lance, enjoy the pool, thanks for coming into the house and sending us a message!
Mike Constantine 12:59:45 PM
I had the best hot dog I ever had there a few weeks ago
rick hallahan 1:01:06 PM
Will Constantine lives!!!
John McInerney 1:01:50 PM
jerry who was the musician in stockton, calamari?
Patrick White 1:03:31 PM
1976 nostalgia wouldn’t be complete with out Rewatching Kojak bust cop killer young Richard Gere. And yelling at poor Stavros to put down his sandwich
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:05:12 PM
Yes, John M, aka Will Constantine Jr., our old radio pal!
Mike Constantine 1:05:56 PM
Heh....I saw Telly Savalas in a white Cadillac convertable at a toll plaza on the NJ Parkway
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:06:14 PM
Will plays records at this gig
Mike Constantine 1:08:43 PM
He even goes off script to play something for an old prog head
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:14:42 PM
Now that's a good cousin! What did he play?
Richard of Rocky Hill 1:15:40 PM
@ Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) Another super show, thanks. Colorful soundtrack for the day before the 250th
Mike Constantine 1:15:59 PM

Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:20:03 PM
Mike, what are you saying?
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:20:37 PM
They never put him on the calendar?
Mike Constantine 1:21:42 PM
I've never seen him listed on the calendar I only know when he texts me
Patrick White 1:22:13 PM
John due to legal challenges Will has to be careful listing his appearances . He was involved with Patty Hearst and the SLA. I believe FBI still looking for him
rick hallahan 1:23:13 PM
Patrick, I heard that on the street also.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:24:03 PM

Roffleaphonic 1:44:35 PM
@Patrick, a friend of mine was a drummer in cover bands in the 70'S. I he shared his pain often.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:45:05 PM

Elias Throckmorton 2:00:48 PM

Elias Throckmorton 2:06:24 PM

vildachaya1 2:13:08 PM
Hey friends, hope everybody’s staying cool.
Roffleaphonic 2:19:35 PM
I was a wall flower Jerry. Dancing was not my strong suit as tallish geek. :)
Mike Constantine 2:20:48 PM
I was 6'4" in high school...I looked like I was having a fit
vildachaya1 2:21:02 PM
i see some reminiscing about 1976 - I was a camp counselor at Moshava in Annapolis Maryland. I was in charge of a group of 11 year olds. We went to the Mall in Washington with the camp for the fireworks and despite stern warnings about not leaving the group, one of my kids got lost. I spent the entire night in a panic running through masses of people while fireworks exploded above looking for him. I finally found him sitting with a family with a kid he knew from school.
Elias Throckmorton 2:21:28 PM
Go on down to Belmont Plaza if you dare
Elias Throckmorton 2:22:43 PM
Plateau. srry
Roffleaphonic 2:22:47 PM
@Mike C, As a fellow 6'4" guy who bangs his head on low ceilings, I feel ya...
vildachaya1 2:23:59 PM
I could have used a couple 6' 4" friends back in 1976 to help me find that kid.
Mike Constantine 2:24:40 PM
I continually bend down....it's automatic
Roffleaphonic 2:25:50 PM
I like my bicycle helmet. It's my friend.
Elias Throckmorton 2:26:27 PM
tall people should be glad they're not short people Its a scissors rock paper thing. Short people / fat people/ Tall people.
Roffleaphonic 2:27:19 PM
@vildachaya1, That sure makes the case for drones that fit in a backpack.
Mike Constantine 2:27:25 PM
Ya can't win
Mike Constantine 2:27:54 PM
There's that Coral electric Sitar
David Shortell 2:27:55 PM
"When Johnny Comes Marching Home" is an American Civil War song turned into the "English Civil War" song.
rick hallahan 2:28:39 PM
When I used to walk from West Philly to Old City, I too often had the sounds of the Stylistics goin' on in my head.
Roffleaphonic 2:29:00 PM
But Grandma sure likes when we come get the stuff off the top shelf that we put there the last time we were over.
vildachaya1 2:29:46 PM
This Stylistics song is one I learned to play on accordion when I was in school - All based on the gorgeous Major sevent chord
Patrick White 2:29:58 PM
In 1976 I got so sick of listening to Kiki Dee, Elton John , Starland VocalBand,Captain and Tennille I switched to 98.1 fm Fascinating Rythyms .Dance music before it morphed into garbage.
Mike Constantine 2:30:14 PM
I should rent myself out in Supermarkets
Elias Throckmorton 2:31:00 PM
@Davis- that song came into my mind earlier.
vildachaya1 2:31:06 PM
There is s huge demand for Vocal R&B hits played on Accordion - And if you can loan me a buck I'll tell you all about it.
Mike Constantine 2:31:06 PM
Oy vey....that starland vocal band song was all over that Summer
David Shortell 2:31:21 PM
Mention of sitar reminds me it's the 57th anniversary of Brian Jones' death.
Roffleaphonic 2:31:56 PM
@Mike, Standing next to the carts with a for hire sign. lol I kinda like that idea!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:32:38 PM
Hey Vilda! That story was frightening!
Elias Throckmorton 2:33:15 PM
I wish you would have not brought Toni Tennille into this conversation. She's not from Philly at all.
Elias Throckmorton 2:33:51 PM
I love the drum break right in the middle.
Elias Throckmorton 2:35:15 PM
Jerry- Can you tell Jenn she is just going to have to wait-? The Olds are having too much fun here.
vildachaya1 2:35:32 PM
Jerry, It was scary...and such a relief when I found him. Speaking of Philly hits - anyone going to see Todd at the Keswick?
Roffleaphonic 2:35:35 PM
Toni Tennille is beyond my musical scope.
Mike Constantine 2:36:27 PM
lol
Elias Throckmorton 2:36:35 PM

Re: The Soul Survivors' "Expressway (To Your Heart)" ... you probably know this, but ... the first printing of their debut album caused controversy since in the schoolboys-theme cover one guy held knife - soon edited out for the next pressings! And the liner notes origin story - an instrumental group and a vocal group had a fender-bender, got out and exclaimed "How did we survive?!!", and that's how joined forces and got their name -- was complete . I met them once & they admitted it!

It was all the record company's promo fantasy. They were real nice guys and cheerfully admitted the tomfoolery, which was not their idea!

The AC gods were kind enough to let me hang out a catch the whole show. I owe them one. And thanks for the show Jerry. Armando's Rhumba took me right back. Too fun.
