Wow that Dave Douglas record is amazing, I can't get enough of it.

Yeah, it's a real gem, incredible band.

I saw the Gifts Quintet at the Village Vanguard last month after hearing Transcend (the title track) on this show. They were extraordinary. One of, if not the, most beautiful and moving live music experiences I've had.

That's great! Glad I inspired you to attend. Just about a year ago I interviewed James Brandon Lewis, great guy!

That's awesome. I'm really looking forward to his new record Omni! I've been diving into the back catalogues of his work as well as Tomeka Reid's and loving them both so far.

I interviewed Tomeka a while back as well, one of my all-time faves, love her quartet records with Mary Halvorson

I was lucky to work at Joes Pub when Allen Toussaint did his residency there. I got to see him countless times and it was wonderful.
