Without talking about it, that could say something about your daughters character in that she's caring & concerned and/or her father is just that ..youthful.

But there was certainly a silent "did that really happen?" moment shared on our side of the desk.

I did not get it as a post-op prize, Dale. I do have a detailed .pdf about the various colors it contained though.

I was visiting friends (who are maybe 10 years older than me max) while they were having some remodeling done, and at one point the contractor looked at me & asked my friend, "So is this your son?" Everyone involved was somewhat horrified.

Always wise to never ask someone "is that your child?" or "when are you due?"

I've seen both go wrong!

Now we have a running joke where I refer to him as "dad" and he refers to me as "son". So, I guess it'

…it's a net win.

My buddy Stephen was mistaken for my son at a local restaurant but to be fair I am 20 years older than he is so not crazy. I think he felt worse about it than I did!

Anyway, time is fake and age doubly so.

yes, and the joke that they kept trying to play of hoffman being the ladies man and beatty being the dork. kind of a one beat joke that got flogged throughout the movie

but again - the fact that it got saddled with being the worst movie - and it's far from that. the worst movie i ever saw, i think, in a movie theatre, was The Flintstones. It was just horrible. I'll never get that 2 hrs. back. I mean I wasn't expecting much to begin with - I mean, the live action flinstones for chrissakes - but it was so just so mind numbingly bad in every way.

Years ago when my wife and I were dating and living far apart and we met half way at a movie theater. The only two movies that were playing when we got there was a Bollywood movie called "mere baap pehle aap" and another movie called "The Love Guru"

The Love Guru was definitely a "put it on one night because it was on streaming and realized even *I* have my limits" movie.

Dj Tenderloin, around 1998 I lived within walking distance of a movie theater that had $1.50 Mondays so I saw just about everything that came out eventually.

Forgot about the Love Guru. that was bad.

I saw Cabin Boy in the Theater. People walking out saying "That was the worst thing I ever saw" as we were going in. I loved it.

We started a "bad movie club" with some friends, put the love guru on for our first meeting, turned it off after like half an hour and disbanded the club.

I saw Cabin Boy opening weekend. If memory serves there was a blizzard that weekend too? Three of us (maybe four) and maybe two other brave souls.

I'm trying to remember the triple feature. Titan A.E., The Skulls and...would Final Destination also have been out around then?

Also - in the category of movies that one loves despite being maligned, i.e. Ishtar, Heaven's Gate, etc. I would like to submit the following 2 films: Spielberg's 1941 & The Coen Bros. Hudsucker Proxy. I stand by them both. saw them both in the theatre.

Love Hudsucker Proxy. Talk in the same podcast about going to see The Big Lebowski opening weekend, my mom and I laughing the whole time and crickets from the rest of the theater.

Mats, I saw a guy in Brooklyn a couple Mondays ago in a Bongwater shirt. I gave him "the nod."

For worst movie, maybe one of the later Matrix movies? Also, this is maybe an unpopular opinion, but Royal Tenenbaums really fell flat for me.

Independence Day is pretty terrible, but I watched it on a plane while getting tipsy on complimentary scotch, so I just laughed uproariously at it.

American Graffiti is a brilliant film. And in a strange way holds up way better than star wars

I saw ID4 at an advance screening at the biggest theater in Chicago. Crowd was going banananananas. Excellent experience.

I went to a summer program in Chicago after my junior year in high school for radio / tv / film and one of our field trips was to a broadcasting museum where we met Wolfman Jack. Alas, don't think there are any photos.

wolfman jack was a presence in the 70s when I was growing up. pretty cool you got to meet him, even though he was unimpressed.

I met Wolfman Jack at Yankees Fan Fest at the Javits Center in 1995. I still have no idea who Wolfman Jack is but his line wasn't as long as David Cones.

i got roped into looking at new lights for the dining room and buying birthday present concert tix. cheapo second-run theaters are the best we need them back

my mom took us to see the land before time at our beloved second-run theater and the film MELTED within about 90 seconds. tragic.

I went to see the Star Wars special edition with a band I was on tour with outside Pittsburgh and the movie kept going in and out of focus. Every time I got up to complain the problem was fixed. They offered free passes but I kept explaining that we lived in Chicago and were never coming back. Eventually I won.

It really felt like the projectionist was messing with us.

I just had another Star Wars special edition memory come back but it is slightly blue (unlike Max Rebo who is completely blue).

I've never had the film melt on screen (though that is such a classic film thing I kinda wish I had) nor had focusing problems but I have been to movies where they've put the reels up out of order. also a "free tickets" situation

I once purchased tickets to a midnight screening and the tickets said 12:01 am ET when they really meant 11:59 pm ET the same night. A lot of angry folks in that parking lot. Had imbibed in a energy drink called something like BONECRUSHER prior but had no movie to watch so I just stayed awake mad until sunrise.

BONECRUSHER! ha ha

Actually, the tickets might have said 12:00 am ET and a bunch of us tried valiantly to explain to the theater manager when one day changed to a different day.

i've been to denmark twice, but not to aarhus. the second time was a theme park tour that did include legoland!

Alex, that's exactly how I feel.

I went to Denmark as a kid and my sister got terribly sick. So a lot of trip was spent with her at the hotel watching their version of MTV. The videos we saw those days on repeat are etched into the insides of my eyelids.

I've been more than once. The second time we drove over from Belgium and someone stole our car radio. My mom yelled "the whole car is gone!" when she saw the broken glass and missing tuner. This remains funny to me.

I have been to other parts of europe - but none of the scandinavian countries. I was young - and they were expensive.

We also made stops in Odense (birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen!) & Copenhagen on that trip, and spent an unscheduled night in Malmö, Sweden when we discovered that we'd stumbled on their annual "Krabbenfest" ("krabben" being something like crawfish.)

I haven't been to "the old world" since I was 18. So 1984. I went with a backpack, a Eurail pass, a copy of "Let's Go", and a song in my heart. England, France, Italy, Greece, East Germany, West Germany (there were 2!), Belgium, Holland, Austria, where else... and Ireland.

I went to Iceland 3 years ago, and I'm still sad I had to come back.
