Greetings and same to you!

Dale Hazelton 7:04:12 AM
a fine morning to you.

RISE PITCREW. THERE ARE CAFFEINATED BEVERAGES TO CONSUME AND A WORLD TO BE TROUBLED BY.
Scurrow Squirrel 7:05:05 AM
Never underestimate the power of a well placed TRANGLE
Dale Hazelton 7:05:45 AM
i remember the morning bell and announcements in school. once i went to the office where they made the announcements from and there sat a fisher price xylophone - THAT'S how they made the bell sound.
Alex from Media 7:05:57 AM
Hi Mike and pitcrew!
Mike Lupica (host) 7:06:22 AM
Just call me Principal McGee.
Number 6 7:06:43 AM
I always wanted to operate that chime thing on The Price Is Right!
Mike Lupica (host) 7:06:57 AM
That's two 'Grease' references in the last two shows now.
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:07:28 AM
The Carolina Wren on the other side of the open window is singing "Lupica Lupica Lupica" as it is wont to do on Tuesday morning
Mike Lupica (host) 7:07:56 AM
@Rob, good, glad my PayPal payment went through.
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:08:38 AM
Usually it sings different three syllable songs like "procedure procedure procedure" or "good morning good morning good morning"
Yvang 7:08:42 AM
Hi Mike and early risers!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:09:24 AM
@Mike, it's the best paid Carolina Wren in Maryland!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:09:38 AM
Good morning everyone!
Mike Lupica (host) 7:10:09 AM
Howdy Yvang and everyone else! It's a lovely morning in Dirty Jerz. Sunny, clear, and cool. Portholes-open kinda morning at the Barge.
Alex from Media 7:20:48 AM
Lets try again...Hi Mike and pitcrew! Doing some breathing in after getting unceremoniously dropped by google.
Mike Lupica (host) 7:22:43 AM
On-air morning breathing exercises could add an unusual component to this weekly program.
Mike Lupica (host) 7:23:05 AM
Might also just sound super creepy, especially to folks listening through headphones.
Alex from Media 7:23:08 AM
@Rob took me a long time to figure out what was making that call. Carolina wrens are the no see ums of the birds
Alex from Media 7:25:02 AM
@ as long as im not in the fentanyl fold the other passengers are unlikely to call the authorities.
Alex from Media 7:26:36 AM
* @mike re breathin aloud
Dale Hazelton 7:26:47 AM
had to look up pinky tex - her story was written more like a fictional fable for and is a non de plume for a modern singer....she really was born after wwii and married to a rodeo cowboy?
Dale Hazelton 7:27:08 AM
miss vicki!
Mike Lupica (host) 7:27:09 AM
She's actually Toody from Dead Moon!
Mike Lupica (host) 7:27:37 AM
Pink Tex, that is. (Not Vicki.)
Mike Lupica (host) 7:27:43 AM
*Pinky
Dale Hazelton 7:28:26 AM
ah!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:28:57 AM
@Alex from Media, yes, Carolina Wrens are the no see ums. SO loud and SO invisible!
Dale Hazelton 7:30:14 AM
vicki posted on fb the video backgrounds she did for soft cell's stage show. pretty groovy stuff.

there was a 'the gun' with the gurvitz brothers who later played with ginger baker in the baker gurvitz army.
Mike Lupica (host) 7:36:41 AM
@Dave, then you are in the right place.
Alex from Media 7:37:27 AM
How deeply was Ginger Baker involved in Masters of Reality?
Dale Hazelton 7:42:30 AM
no clue, i only have that album because the gurvitzeseses did two albums with grame edge too and i had to have all the moody blues solo stuff.
Dale Hazelton 7:42:41 AM
graeme..
Alex from Media 7:43:06 AM
@ sugar lumps, nancy sinatra did a song about dropping acid "sugar town"
Mike Lupica (host) 7:44:18 AM
The original version of "My Friend Jack" got banned by the BBC for the not-so-subtle drug references!
Alex from Media 7:44:53 AM
Not to confused with the Shitkid sugar town referring to reform school.
Mike Lupica (host) 7:45:18 AM
Or the many songs about cocaine, aka Booger Sugar.
Alex from Media 7:46:17 AM
Laughed at booger sugar
Number 6 7:48:32 AM
They used to sell some type of legal cocaine that was more like a snot detergent.
Dale Hazelton 7:51:31 AM
my dad always had a vicks inhaler in his shirt pocket. a little methamphetamine to get you through the day. complimented the pack a day of kools and coffee.
Gary ryan 7:57:43 AM
will always remind me of the joe cocker version at woodstock. love that Dale
Elizabeth 8:03:38 AM
What's playing in background pease
Mike Lupica (host) 8:06:09 AM
@Elizabeth, that's a loop from an artist called Luisine.
Marcus 8:06:09 AM
Hello Mike! Zine-fest sounds amazing. As a former zine creator/editor from the 80's I'd love to see what the kids are doing thse days
Christine 𓅓𓅥 𓅊 8:06:14 AM
Ziiiiiiiiines! ⭐️At the fantastic Princeton Public Library. Great news.
Mike Lupica (host) 8:06:22 AM
@Marcus, it is super inspiring. The kids are alright.
Elizabeth 8:07:24 AM
Thank you!!!!! I know that song
Mike Lupica (host) 8:07:35 AM
I'll be there double-dipping by helping my pal Matt from WFMU. Stop by and say hi!
dan Cochrane 8:08:07 AM
Good morning ML, all others…belt or direct drive?
Marcus 8:08:25 AM
I used the computers at my job and very early versions of Display Postscript (pre-Adobe) to create "Dope Vector" in 1985. I may even have a copy in my basement. I'll try to drag my kid there. Maybe we'll run into each other
Marcus 8:09:31 AM
@dan: you can't scratch and cut with a belt drive
Dale Hazelton 8:09:52 AM
i saw minutemen at irving plaza. wished i had cherished the moment more but i'm sure i was pretty loaded.
Mike Lupica (host) 8:10:11 AM
Sounds great! My girlfriend and I used the copy machine at her 90s job at Harpers Bazaar to create copies of our zine. An unofficial subsidiary publication of Hearst Publishing.
Christine 𓅓𓅥 𓅊 8:10:23 AM
Good morning 🫖 Mike, Marcus, Dan, Elizabeth, Gary, Dale, Number 6, Alex, Rob, scurrow 🐿, DTO 😶‍🌫️ and all.

Hi Christine 𓅓𓅥 𓅊!
dan Cochrane 8:12:43 AM
Zines and tape mixes, I miss them both.
Dale Hazelton 8:13:07 AM
hey now christine.
Mike Lupica (host) 8:13:14 AM
Seems like a perfect time for a revival, Dan!
dan Cochrane 8:14:46 AM
Hoarders had a VHS junkie, inside and outside the house, 202 bins outside alone.
Marcus 8:14:55 AM
Hello Christine!
Alex from Media 8:15:36 AM
Checking out of chat for work. Todays decision latex gloves to earn my pay or boxing gloves to earn a pink slip. Thanks Mike! Will keep my ears on.
Marcus 8:15:38 AM
Dale, I have been to Irving Plaza dozens of times and I can't remember half the bands I saw there for that same reason. The Ritz, I remember every show
Mike Lupica (host) 8:15:51 AM
Peas out, Alex!

Camp Punksylvania starts in t-minus 3 days.⌛⌚ You have been warned
Alex from Media 8:17:40 AM
Oh and hi christine
Dale Hazelton 8:21:10 AM
marcus, friends and i would usually have a bottle and drink it on someone's stoop first so we didn't have to buy drinks in the clubs. probably not the wisest decision but it was economical.
TAndy 8:22:21 AM
Sup yall!
Marcus 8:22:39 AM
Irving Plaza was where I first met someone on MDMA. Plastic face can't wipe the smile off. Never forget that night
Mike Lupica (host) 8:22:50 AM
Hey TAndy, welcome to the _____dome.
TAndy 8:24:25 AM

Marcus 8:29:08 AM
Michael Jackson reportedly only let Nas sample Human Nature if he didn't curse
Marcus 8:30:24 AM
jim: as you may know MC Serch from 3rd Bass discovered and promoted Nas
Christine 𓅓𓅥 𓅊 8:31:48 AM
@Dale, that practice is an economical idea in these days too. Have you seen some of the drink prices in Philly? 💰💸
dan Cochrane 8:35:09 AM
Is definition of dub strictly one of time signature? Like say…waltz.
Mike Lupica (host) 8:36:21 AM
Dub is notoriously difficult to define and explain, but I will say that if the 1970s organ my parents had in the house when I was a kid had included a pre-programmed "dub" beat (as it did for "waltz") my life would likely have turned out very different.
dan Cochrane 8:37:26 AM
Fascinating! I bet it had polka as well.
Mike Lupica (host) 8:37:40 AM
Oh totally.
dan Cochrane 8:38:07 AM
Unlike Dad, I drink at home mostly Chris.
dan Cochrane 8:42:10 AM
Looper pedal may have dub setting.
Mike Lupica (host) 8:45:05 AM
Gichard's vocalist reminds me of an even more severe Dry Cleaning.
dan Cochrane 8:47:06 AM
Mountain hillbilly dub, less acid.
Mike Lupica (host) 8:47:49 AM
Had she lived long enough, I wonder if Barbara Dane would've been inspired to update this song for the age of Musk. ("I Don't Want Your Trillions Mister")
dan Cochrane 8:50:11 AM
Last night I saw young Marty Short do impression of, “kid from Deliverance”. Creepy good.
Mike Lupica (host) 8:53:40 AM
I am thankful for many things in my life, but right now "being able to blast a Marelene Dietrich record all over NJ and Philly before 9 AM on a weekday" is topping the list.
TAndy 9:02:19 AM

We need to bring back throwing rotten fruit at people we don't like
Marcus 9:03:06 AM
Aimee Mann! When I was in High School one of my friends (15 yrs) dated the guy from the "Voices Carry" video (24 yrs I believe).
Marcus 9:03:30 AM
We were all like, what?
Marcus 9:06:28 AM
My friend did some Go-Go Dancing on the bar the the Pyramid Club and the Drag Shows at the Tunnel before dying youg unfortunately
Mike Lupica (host) 9:07:18 AM
I met Aimee Mann once -- she was very nice.
Mike Lupica (host) 9:07:29 AM
Ouch, sorry Marcus. That's rough.
dan Cochrane 9:08:14 AM
Love her in Big Lebowski
Marcus 9:08:16 AM
Mike, yeah it was heartbreaking to hear his passing. He was the guy who brought me new music back in the 80's
Dale Hazelton 9:08:44 AM
for some reason i have two copies of this album, and they both are super scratchy. some hippies must have really loved them.
dan Cochrane 9:08:48 AM
Poke Salad Aimee
Dale Hazelton 9:09:53 AM
marcus - i remember that scene well. i used to wear a priest's shirt and collar to the pyramid. it was a conversation starter.
Marcus 9:11:38 AM
Dale, the Pyramid is where I saw my first face tattoo
Marcus 9:12:25 AM
I sure they loved the Catholic Discipline thing
Mike Lupica (host) 9:12:32 AM
First face tattoo I ever saw was on a city bus in San Francisco. It was on the forehead of a 14 year old kid and it said: "GG ALLIN"

@Dan, can you tell I had too much coffee this morning?
dan Cochrane 9:43:45 AM
You’re better for it my friend
dan Cochrane 9:44:51 AM
I love that Husker’s encore often included Mary Tyler Moore Show theme, at speed of sound.
dan Cochrane 9:46:24 AM
Damn, great cover
Mike Lupica (host) 9:47:11 AM
He was the best. Died tragically young. Super memory of pogodancing in the rain with like 300 Algerian kids when he played Central Park Summerstage.
Yvang 9:47:55 AM
I've head they wrote the song after hearibg "Carte de Sejour", Taha's first band, so this cover makes even more sense.
dan Cochrane 9:48:20 AM
This would have worked for Zero Dark Thirty movie credits.
Mike Lupica (host) 9:48:37 AM
Another Rachid Taha song was on the soundtrack to Black Hawk Down.
Avra Band 9:49:49 AM
Great Playlist Mike! I would be extremely grateful if my band AVRA (search Avraband) could be included in your selections in the future. We are a local post-punk band influenced by Manchester bands. Are you or anyone on the thread interested in a link for free download from bandcamp?
dan Cochrane 9:49:53 AM
Time to watch that again! I met Jeremy Piven at Cafe Intelligencia, Chicago years ago. Prince of a guy!
Mike Lupica (host) 9:51:13 AM

Alex from Media 9:52:09 AM
