The Carrier Frequency Finders Keepers 2020
soundtrack of a 1984 play, written by Philadelphia-born children's book author-turned novelist and playwright, Russell Hoban, who most famously wrote the Frances the badger series of children's books, best known of which is "Bread and Jam for Francis". The play was set in a post-nuclear world, where brutalised steel and concrete structures rise from a giant pool of water. It depicts six figures lost in an absurd and exhausting ritual, trying to revive a departed civilisation. Despite its harrowing subject matter, the show retains moments of ludicrous slapstick and verbal wit.

The lyrics of the song reference the fact that Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa is famous for writing under at least 70 distinct heteronyms and pseudonyms. Rather than simple pen names, these were fully realized individuals with their own distinct biographies, physiques, and literary philosophies.

Hello Hello!
Number 6 5:00:29 PM
Peas in!
Lizbot (host) 5:00:39 PM
Hi Number 6!
Number 6 5:01:37 PM
How's the temps there?
Lizbot (host) 5:04:49 PM
@Number 6 - It's not too bad. A/C was already on for a trainee
Number 6 5:06:11 PM
If you need more water, I've used water out of the sink in the bathroom with no ill effect.
Dá Bəng Gôu 5:07:50 PM
cool water
Lizbot (host) 5:07:56 PM
@Number 6 - Good to know, but this week I came well-prepared with extra water! I normally have more than enough water, but last week I came in and housed like half my bottle almost immediately, it was so hot inside!
Lizbot (host) 5:08:17 PM
Hi Dá Bəng Gôu! Cool water, indeed. Cool water for all!
JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 5:29:02 PM
Hi, Beautiful Day here in central OR.
Ossy 5:32:56 PM
hi space susan sandsbot!
Randy Marthins 5:33:26 PM
Hey Lizbot! Did you give a shout out to HMHS alum & Tony Award Winner Bill Rauch? He was a year behind me, and I remember him from drama club
Lizbot (host) 5:33:39 PM
Hi JimmyCarter IsMy Hero!
Lizbot (host) 5:33:42 PM
Hi Ossy!
Lizbot (host) 5:33:48 PM
Hi Randy Marthins!
Lizbot (host) 5:35:09 PM
@JimmyCarter IsMy Hero - Nice! I will be in the Pacific Northwest...sort of...in early July! Heading out to Spokane to bring my mom out there to visit her brother. Gonna drive through the Idaho panhandle to Montana if all goes as planned!
Lizbot (host) 5:35:34 PM
@Ossy - I hope you're have a spacey sandy day!
Lizbot (host) 5:38:00 PM
@Randy Marthins - Oh wow, I did not know about Bill Rauch's Haddonfield origins! I missed The Tonys because I was at a show Sunday night, The Crossing, which is an experimental chamber choir that does some pretty goofy stuff (they sang a piece as animals in the most realistic-sounding sense, if you can imagine it)
Lizbot (host) 5:39:00 PM
@Randy Marthins - I didn't see Rauch's show, Jellicle Ball, because I never liked Cats, but I heard from a friend that that show was a lot of fun and you don't have to like cats to enjoy it. I know it's like a drag ball culture take on it.
Roffleaphonic 5:39:38 PM
NJ tap water Number 6?!? Tikes!
Ossy 5:39:38 PM
liz - will have sandy fun after this weekend (missing a unique Juneteenth community party this coming saturday, against my will :(
Lizbot (host) 5:40:18 PM
Hi Roffleaphonic!
Roffleaphonic 5:40:43 PM
Hi Lizbot and company!
Lizbot (host) 5:41:53 PM
@Ossy - Sad you'll miss the Juneteenth picnic. I used to live in Lemon Hill section of Fairmount, right next to the park, and the Juneteenth picnics there were epic.
Roffleaphonic 5:42:07 PM
That was a "yikes" #6. But Urgency was my typing method.
Lizbot (host) 5:42:17 PM
@Roffleaphonic - Haha, NJ tap water probably better than Philly tap!
Roffleaphonic 5:43:29 PM
Regional for sure, and I do rock the filters here in Philly for sure. :)
Lizbot (host) 5:43:59 PM
@Roffleaphonic - I didn't even notice the "Tikes!" until you pointed it out! My brain simply autocorrected it. But now I'm thinking of a plaintive missive about Jersey drinking water...Think of the tikes! Yikes!
Roffleaphonic 5:44:27 PM
Da brain love that stuff! LOL
Lizbot (host) 5:45:03 PM
@Roffleaphonic - Yeah, I mean some parts of Jersey have spicier water than others! I remember the tap water at my grandmom's house tasted bad, and there were multiple advisories not to drink it when I was growing up!
Roffleaphonic 5:45:21 PM
What about the children!
Lizbot (host) 5:46:06 PM
@Ossy - I hope you have fun with your alternate weekend plans, though! I'll be in NYC all weekend, so, despite not being a Sports Person, I will be there for The Knicks mania!
Roffleaphonic 5:46:16 PM
The sulfur water in the wells in Texas was horrible.
Lizbot (host) 5:46:30 PM
@Roffleaphonic - Won't ANYONE think of the tikes?!
Lizbot (host) 5:46:44 PM
@Roffleaphonic - ew, yeah, that sounds bad...and stanky!
JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 5:47:27 PM
As an environmental consulting geologist I advise being cautious of NJ public water. They do a good job governing in general, but this is a challenge.
Roffleaphonic 5:47:28 PM
It was bad for everyone as well as the tikes! :)
JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 5:47:43 PM
philly too
Lizbot (host) 5:48:57 PM
@Roffleaphonic - My grandmom's house was a block from an old radioactive Superfund site! Water...and air...there was bad! A lot of cancer in that neighborhood! Turns out a camping lantern company had a factory there in the mid 20th century, used radioactive materials, and simply buried their waste in the dirt by the school!
JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 5:48:59 PM
Haven't yet been up there Lizbot, Have a great trip!
Randy Marthins 5:49:25 PM
@lizbot - when CATS was in Philly for a few weeks in 1986(?), I met the dancer who played Rumpleteaser, and we "dated" while she was in town
JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 5:49:46 PM
that is 100% true, and less bad than the reality of it.
Lizbot (host) 5:50:22 PM
@JimmyCarter IsMy Hero - Yeah, I haven't been to Spokane in ages, but was there a few times as a kid. My uncle had a cabin in Priest Lake, Idaho as well, a very rustic place with lots of coyotes nearby
Roffleaphonic 5:50:47 PM
@JimmyCarter, I talked to a cool guy yesterday monitoring and servicing sensors the other day at the fish ladder across from the boat houses, and he seemed optimistic. Nice to hear.
Ossy 5:51:24 PM
liz - Ooo sounds/smells awesome I bet..this particular one i was headed is in burlington county, east hampton, where they have a historical underground railroad museum and sacred place(which they're going to do a freedom walk tour and possibly with fredrick douglass and harriet tubman's descendants :(
Ossy 5:51:50 PM
yeah..sad all week til after saturday lol
Lizbot (host) 5:53:30 PM
@JimmyCarter IsMy Hero - Yikes indeed (regarding the water!)
Roffleaphonic 5:53:59 PM
Superfund sites! Double yikes for tikes!
Roffleaphonic 5:58:02 PM
Wickerman the lost on the editing floor version is all that's left.. Shame.
Randy Marthins 5:58:30 PM
Nicholas Cage - who has seen Spider-Noir? I think that's gonna be my tomorrow
Gautham Kalva 5:59:08 PM
Hey @Lizbot, in the first Mike break did you say you did a full episode based on the play “Graeme Miller & Steve Shill Longdream”? Thanks..
Randy Marthins 5:59:21 PM
I saw something where he said his voice for that was half Bogart/ half Bugs Bunny
Randy Marthins 6:00:22 PM
Where is Spokane in reference to twin peaks?
Lizbot (host) 6:01:06 PM
Hi Gautham Kalva!
Randy Marthins 6:01:09 PM
Evel kneivel was from ID I believe?
Roffleaphonic 6:02:30 PM
Snake River Canyon sure is.
Lizbot (host) 6:05:09 PM
@Randy Marthins - While I never cared about "Cats," I did enjoy the T.S. Eliot book, primarily for those amazing names! Rumpleteaser! Skimbleshanks! or my personal favorite: Lady Griddlebone, who gets "Very badly skeeered!" I don't think she was in the musical
Lizbot (host) 6:06:24 PM
@Roffleaphonic - Fish ladder! I visited one of those outside of Seattle a decade or so ago, a salmon ladder, as well as some ship locks
Lizbot (host) 6:07:13 PM
@Ossy - That freedom walk tour sounds amazing! Hopefully you'll get to do it another year!
Roffleaphonic 6:07:57 PM
Herschel the Sea lion always gets into trouble at the Ballard Locks. Close to where my son was born. :)
Randy Marthins 6:08:31 PM
I just looked up Fernando Pessoa in my library and all they have is an audiobook of "the book of disquiet" on Hoopla which is 17hrs long
Roffleaphonic 6:08:43 PM
Herschel love them ladders!
Roffleaphonic 6:09:46 PM
Good eats
Randy Marthins 6:09:46 PM
@lizbot - I have the Gorey illustrated edition of "Old Possom's Book of Cats" yep
Lizbot (host) 6:10:07 PM
@Gautham Kalva - Close! I did a whole Doubleplusgood episode years ago based on a different project by the same writer who wrote the play "The Carrier Frequency," from which "The Longdream" is taken: Russell Hoban. He wrote one of my favorite books ever, "Turtle Diary," and I made an entire episode of music based on themes in that book
Randy Marthins 6:10:41 PM
I think you'll see the influence on my own cat stories & pictures on IG
Lizbot (host) 6:10:48 PM
@Gautham Kalva - My apologies for my delayed response! I am playing catch-up in the chat after the last mic-break caused me to fall behind!
Ossy 6:11:13 PM
liz - i've been to that underground a few times, but yeah..sounds more fun beyond a music concert and walking around!
Ossy 6:11:46 PM
however this past sunday, partook in a rainbow run (pride 5k). that was colorful fun and aquaintences!
Lizbot (host) 6:12:25 PM
@Roffleaphonic - Wickerman lost on the editing floor? Tell me more!
Roffleaphonic 6:14:35 PM
OMGosh! Yes! Wickerman with Lee was curt and gut. Look it up. I cannot do justice to the story here. Broke Lee's heart. He loved the project.
Randy Marthins 6:14:39 PM
First time I saw Wickerman was on "Saturday night DEAD" hosted by Stella - the maneater from manayunk
Lizbot (host) 6:15:28 PM
@Roffleaphonic - Oh wow, I just looked up Herschel the Sea Lion - I love a famous wild troublemaker pinniped! Or dolphin as well! I met the famous Fungie the wild loner dolphin in Dingle Harbour, Ireland while out on a boat, RIP Fungie! Dingle's entire economy was Fungie-tourism-based! So many boat tours!
Dá Bəng Gôu 6:17:00 PM
Who killed the Eskimos ?
Lizbot (host) 6:17:36 PM
@Randy Marthins - haha, I bought that Book of Disquiet when I was about 20 because it seemed intriguing and I'd seen it referenced elsewhere, and I read bits and pieces, but I can't say I finished it. Perhaps it's time to revisit it!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:17:38 PM
Howdy Lizbot and everyone. The Mag Fields song was making us tear up
Roffleaphonic 6:18:56 PM
These cute animals are biding their time me thinks. They are way smarter than we sometimes give them credit for. I now want to go on a boat ride in Ireland if they still accept our passports.
Lizbot (host) 6:19:04 PM
Hi Rob from Maryland 🦀!
Lizbot (host) 6:19:11 PM
@Dá Bəng Gôu - Didn't we all?
Lizbot (host) 6:21:14 PM
@Roffleaphonic - haha, all I know is Fungie lived to a RIPE old age - far older than most dolphins! He first started showing up in Dingle harbor without a pod as a solo who'd be rejected from all local pods and he still hunted wild fish and eschewed dead fish thrown to him by locals or tour boats, but he followed boats around and swimmers simply for socialization!
Lizbot (host) 6:21:52 PM
@Roffleaphonic - But yeah, Ireland is lousy with American ex-pats these days. They might be getting sick of us! Dingle lost Fungie in 2020, a tourism double-whammy!
Lizbot (host) 6:22:39 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - My daughter frequently requests the Mag Fields Charm of the Highway Strip album on roadtrips and it still holds up so well
Alex from Media 6:23:08 PM
Hi Lizbot! Drawn out by the Astatke!
Roffleaphonic 6:23:15 PM
Socialization with the "others" sounds valid when your society is going wonky.
Lizbot (host) 6:23:22 PM
@Randy Marthins - haha, I heard of Saturday Night Dead, but never experienced it firsthand!
Lizbot (host) 6:23:49 PM
Hi Alex from Media!
Ted 6:25:00 PM
Who can confirm that Yo La Tengo got their name from Richie Ashburn? In his final season with the expansion Mets, he had to play with a Venezuelan second baseman who didn’t speak English. So when Richie wanted to call for a fly ball to center field, he would yell “Yo la tengo” (I got it). I really want to believe this
Lizbot (host) 6:25:22 PM
@Alex from Media - aahhh, yeah, this song in particular I love, but all that 60s/70s Ethiopian jazz is so good! I lived near a lot of Ethiopian restaurants in West Philly and one in particular, Abyssinia, has great ethio jazz in their jukebox!
Lizbot (host) 6:25:29 PM
Hi Ted!
Roffleaphonic 6:26:05 PM
Italy passed a weird law about Italian-Americans that put a ban on pinky rings and some shirts types by them today. So, it all tracks in a dopey way.
Alex from Media 6:26:27 PM
@Lizbot. I have been there.
Arlene Machiavelli 6:28:27 PM
Yay I got home in time to hear most of the show though I always seem to miss the Yo La Tengo hahaha. Hope everyone’s having a nice Thursday!
Lizbot (host) 6:28:39 PM
@Ted - I am no baseball historian, that's for sure, but I do love me some Yo La Tengo, so I have heard this story before. Elio Chacón, shortstop for the mets, kept colliding with Ashburn, and Chacón spoke Spanish as his first language, so Ashburn learned the phrase "Yo la tengo!"
Lizbot (host) 6:28:50 PM
Hi Arlene Machiavelli!
Lizbot (host) 6:29:30 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - Ah! Glad you made it! That was a particularly short YLT song! There will be more YLT on future ++good shows, for sure!
Alex from Media 6:30:01 PM
@ Ted I have heard this frm several trivia buffs.
Lizbot (host) 6:30:50 PM
@Roffleaphonic - haha, what? Are non-Italian-Americans permitted to wear pinky rings? Too many pinky-related accidents? haha, they're probably just sick of american tourists
Roffleaphonic 6:32:28 PM
Yea, it's a tourist ban. That cracks me up so much! It never ends in the this weirdo world!
Arlene Machiavelli 6:32:53 PM
@lizbot yay! Love Yo La Tengo so much, used to go to all their Hanukkah shows at Maxwells in Hoboken, miss that venue! Saw them out here in San Diego last year and was in the front row where I could see Ira play the keys….they come out for the encore and Ira leans forward to me and asks “is there something you wanna hearr
Lizbot (host) 6:32:53 PM
@Alex from Media / @Ted - I got to meet and chat with Ira Kaplan at an event a year or so ago, and weirdly baseball did come up somehow.
Number 6 6:33:02 PM
Hi Roffleaphonic, just saw your comment, drink NJ H2O, it'll put hair on your chest!
Roffleaphonic 6:33:32 PM
And some other things too I fear Number 6! lol
Lizbot (host) 6:33:59 PM
@Roffleaphonic - I only make it to these countries for the first time AFTER they get sick of Americans! Ha! Wish I could've traveled more when I was younger!
Arlene Machiavelli 6:34:23 PM
Haha hit send too fast….ao I ask for my fave YLT song “Saturday” and they played it for me, I was so delighted!
Paul 6:37:12 PM
Where did the hilarious clip about time (the first five days felt like 8 days), etc.?
Roffleaphonic 6:37:34 PM
@Lizbot, I have a friend from Vancouver, BC and he was packing around Europe. He went into a bar and sounded American and would not serve him. He had a Canadian Maple Lief on his backpack they saw as he was walking out and called him back and bought him drinks. That was 20 years ago!
Cody Brown 6:40:44 PM
Fantastic show! Love Feelies and did not know the YLT story. Rich Ashburn ended up being a famous Phillies announcer
Lizbot (host) 6:42:35 PM
Hi Paul! It's Steve Martin speaking to Bernadette Peters' character in "The Jerk"
Lizbot (host) 6:43:03 PM
@Paul - The Jerk is probably up there in the top 5 movies I watched over and over again as a kid!
Lizbot (host) 6:45:14 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - Oh nice! Love that Ira asked you directly! Re: The Hanukkah shows - So many friends drive up from Philly for those every year, and I want to get to more of them, but I never do because that's such a busy time of year and by that time of night I'm beat and don't wanna do that drive to North Jersey and back! But once my kid is outta the house, maybe I'll make it there!
Paul 6:45:42 PM
Thank you! I knew I had heard that somewhere. Yes, a great flick. 'I was born a poor black child'
Lizbot (host) 6:46:41 PM
Hi Cody Brown! THank you, I appreciate that! ALso, I did not know that about Richie Ashburn, but again, I don't know much baseball lore, only YLT lore! I do attend an occasional Phillies game because I like the vibe of being in the crowd on a spring day!
Arlene Machiavelli 6:48:02 PM
@lizbot Ira is hilarious— we were sitting basically next to the stage and he’s like “ok you have had to stare at my butt for the entire show so…..is there something you wanna hear?” LOL
Roffleaphonic 6:48:17 PM
I watched an episode of The Gong Show with Steve Martin last week, and they were all coked out. But that's the late 70's in a nutshell.
Roffleaphonic 6:50:14 PM
This Pamela Z just went on my must have list!
Lizbot (host) 6:50:19 PM
@Roffleaphonic - haha, maybe I need to buy a maple leaf patch for my backpack! Stolen Canadian valor! There will surely be more fatigue in europe from american tourists these days, and who can blame them? Also, I read that many of the residents of a lot of popular European tourist destination cities really enjoyed the novelty of way fewer tourists during Covid, and sorta rebelled when tourism picked back up. That said, I still want to get to Barcelona and lots of spots in Italy one of these days
Carlos Ramone 6:51:32 PM
Hi Liz..was driving around listening around 6 pm and you said you were visiting some new states soon..what do you consider a visit? Driving in the state, a meal overnight stay
Lizbot (host) 6:51:53 PM
Hi Carlos Ramone!
Roffleaphonic 6:51:54 PM
I loved the quiet COVID moments and the empty Philly streets. Pure greed on my part to have it all to myself.
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:52:54 PM
This Tristwch Y Fenywod song is great

@Carlos Ramone - Ideally at least one overnight in a state I count as having "been to" that state, but I will still count driving through it. I absolutely will not count just an airport layover! We all know airports are their own weird territories!
Lizbot (host) 6:53:20 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - I love the hammered dulicer-type sounds in it too!
Carlos Ramone 6:54:58 PM
Agree on the airport part..unless you get a massive delay and can venture out into the city
Lizbot (host) 6:55:53 PM
@Roffleaphonic - Same. That was one aspect in the otherwise very sad situation of the pandemic that was refreshing. But then I swear SO many evidently either forgot how to drive, or learned for the first time during the early period of the pandemic when the streets were virtually empty, thus never learned how to share the road, because boy oh boy, post-pandemic driving got way way worse! And far more hit-and-runs in Philly. Not one but two family friends were victims of hit-and-runs post-Covid!
michael gudgeon 6:56:59 PM
like this stuff sup lizbot and chat!
Roffleaphonic 6:58:00 PM
Millions of more phones in the hands of questionable intellect too by then. More yikes!
Lizbot (host) 6:59:22 PM
@Carlos Ramone - meh. even then...I once had a disastrous series of flights (well, thankfully no one was hurt, so not THAT disastrous...) flying Air France between Philly and Madrid with layovers at Charles deGaulle airport in Paris, and Air France went on strike while I was in Madrid, thus moved me to a multiple-days-earlier flight, cutting my trip significantly shorter, then forgot to book me on the connecting flight from Paris back to PHL, so I had to spnt the night in Paris unexpectedly...
Roffleaphonic 6:59:49 PM
The pre-summer Deathstar is dipping low now and I will have my river ride and listen. Thanks for getting me there Lizbot! Laterly!
Ted 6:59:53 PM
I’m glad the YLT story is true. Now to figure out why they wanted that name. They seem pretty wacky
Lizbot (host) 7:00:27 PM
@Carlos Ramone - Spending the night in Paris unexpectedly sounds awesome, but it sucked. I was an airport hotel in the middle of nowhere and I got about two hours of sleep before catching my newly-rescheduled early AM flight home, so I never counted that as having visited France
JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 7:01:36 PM
bye evberybody
Lizbot (host) 7:02:30 PM
@JimmyCarter IsMy Hero - Bye! Thanks for stopping by!
Dale Hazelton 7:03:26 PM
good evening. nice sounds to wind down by.
Lizbot (host) 7:03:38 PM
Hi michael gudgeon! I didn't see you there at first! Glad you like it!
Lizbot (host) 7:04:00 PM
Hi Dale Hazelton!
michael gudgeon 7:04:20 PM
oh man this is some real heat too
Lizbot (host) 7:04:33 PM
@Dale Hazelton - Glad you're digging it. I wants to craft a mellow show today for a hot hazy late afternoon/early evening to relax and cool down to!
Lizbot (host) 7:05:14 PM
@Ted - hmmm, I dunno, but considering I don't talk sports much and Ira heard I was from Philly and immediately brought up The Phillies, I guess he's a big baseballhead!
Lizbot (host) 7:05:39 PM
@Roffleaphonic - Enjoy your ride!
Lizbot (host) 7:07:18 PM
@michael gudgeon - I have a lot of outdoor construction works on my block at home this week, and I just couldn't watch them out there without offering water earlier today. It was brutal. Some were up in the direct sun on my neighbor's roof! Brutal.
Number 6 7:07:51 PM
When I went to Madrid a few years ago, the stopover was in Heathrow, but coming back I got a direct flight.
Lizbot (host) 7:08:50 PM
@Roffleaphonic - Belated response, but in case you're back later: Yeah, people who are glued to their cell phones at all times first hitting the road certainly must have contributed to the crazy driving uptick!
Lizbot (host) 7:10:36 PM
@Number 6 - oh god, I really hate Heathrow, ESPECIALLY these days! I had to connect there two years ago because, unbelievably, there were no direct flights from Philly to Berlin, and it's gotten even worse than it used to be ever since BREXIT since you have to go through far more security now, even during connections, due to being outside the EU
JimmyCarter IsMy Hero 7:12:15 PM
Roffleaphonic2:50 PM The river is definitely getting better, clean water act meant it is no longer a sewer for toxic chemicals, amphibians live there, some even have female offspring (no males), it's better but a long way to go. The biggest issue now is with the "treated" sewage has biologically active drug loads and affects the reproduction of wildlife (and humans).
Lizbot (host) 7:14:04 PM
@Number 6 - I had already had a really crappy time in Heathrow in my 20s when I lost my passport somewhere in the airport, which of course was not the airport's fault, BUT getting around that airport sucks - too many far-flung terminals. TOo many condusing tramways. And NOW they have you go through basically three security checkpoints just for connections, and they take every little 3 oz bottle of liquid out of yr bag and run it through an additional scan, which I have not seen elsewhere
Lizbot (host) 7:16:27 PM
@JimmyCarter IsMy Hero - Yikes. My sister-in-law is a wildlife biologist and environmental policymaker and when we visited her when she was based in Costa Rica she was overseeing a turtle hatching area on a stretch of beach in Carate in the Osa Peninsula where the water temps had risen enough that only female turtles were hatching
Alex from Media 7:18:40 PM
@Lizbot Giving water to outdoor workers today is a Mitzvah!
Dale Hazelton 7:19:21 PM
that's so wild about the female turtles....
Dale Hazelton 7:20:21 PM
this dorothy carter is fantastic. reminds me of carolanne pegg.
Lizbot (host) 7:24:02 PM
@Alex from Media - Yeah, I just couldn't watch them out there any longer without offering it, and I happened to wind up with a case of waterbottles recently!
Lizbot (host) 7:25:13 PM
@Dale Hazelton - Yeah, sad but cool watching baby turtles hatch! She had to be there every morning early dawn when the hatching is most active. But mercifully that's also the best time to beat the Costa Rican heat!
Lizbot (host) 7:27:01 PM
@Dale Hazelton - I love Dorothy Carter, gorgeous playing! She played dulcimer, hurdy gurdy, zither, recorder and possibly other instruments. Love her dulcimer playing! Reminds me of the dulcimers at the Cranberry Fest every October in The Pineys!
Dale Hazelton 7:30:29 PM
when i was a kid i'd play the chipmunks do the beatles at 16. it sounded like a barbershop quartet.
Lizbot (host) 7:32:10 PM
@Dale Hazelton - Ha, lots of fun to be had with these records that played with sped-up vocals!
Number 6 7:32:31 PM
Ha, I know about the going through security 3X to get to Santiago in Spain!
Lizbot (host) 7:36:14 PM
@Number 6 - ugh. worst. And it wasn't one of those situations where they were just screening some people's 3 oz travel bottles. Everyone had to go through that additional line just for liquid scans after the main security lines and it added so much time. I won't schedule a flight that has less than a 3 hour layover there, it can get so bad
Lizbot (host) 7:37:56 PM
ooh, French lyrics catch: souffle I now know means "breath," thanks for occasional French lessons and Jean-Luc Godard's "À bout de souffle"!
Arlene Machiavelli 7:43:44 PM
Ooh love this King Creosote song, I always forget about this band!
Ted 7:43:52 PM
I’m so old I was stuck an extra day in the Virgin Islands due to an Eastern Airlines strike in 1989. I received no sympathy.
Lizbot (host) 7:45:25 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - Yeah, I feel like King Creosote /Kenny Anderson didn't get his due
Lizbot (host) 7:46:28 PM
@Ted - oh boy! Yeah, not fun not knowing how/when you're getting home, though. Remember a lot of travelers got stuck in the Caribbean earlier this year. I think it was related to the TSA strike and some other issues.
Lizbot (host) 7:47:26 PM
@Ted - I'm old enough to remember Eastern Airlines, they didn't fold until I was a teenager, but I don't think I ever flew on them
Alex from Media 7:48:06 PM
Love the sentiment. I'm ready to throw a lot of ppl up.
Lizbot (host) 7:48:33 PM
@Alex from Media - Truly!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:48:59 PM
Didn't they have an ad "Eastern Makes It Easier To Fly"?
Dale Hazelton 7:51:52 PM
i miss ad campaigns like 'i'm cheryl. fly me.'
Alex from Media 7:53:57 PM
Thanks Lizbot! Amazing that you kept up with your DJ duties and yet kept the chat room popping.
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:54:43 PM
We enjoyed your show tonight, Lizbot! Ty and good night
Dale Hazelton 7:57:08 PM
i didn't know he was in rear window.
Number 6 7:57:15 PM
Thanks for the laid back show, peas out and BCNU!
Arlene Machiavelli 7:57:48 PM
Thanks for a fantastic show! Hope you have a fun weekend everyone!
Dale Hazelton 7:57:51 PM
thanks for the good music! have a fun time in the city.
Lizbot (host) 7:58:11 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - It's possible? I don't remember that slogan. I DO remember flying Continental Airlines. I also remember some of the cool logos, Pan Am especially!
Ossy 7:58:30 PM
great smells tonight liz
sean burns 7:58:35 PM
Seeing Robin Hitchcock with an electric band Saturday in Jersey City it's been years
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:59:25 PM
Pan Am makes the going great
Lizbot (host) 7:59:26 PM
@Dale Hazelton - Yeah, a lot of glamorous fun airlines ads back in the mid-to-late 20th century. Now flying is very unglamorous and we're rammed in like sardines! No complimentary pins and little oy planes for kids, no space for anything!
Lizbot (host) 7:59:32 PM
Thanks Number 6!
Lizbot (host) 7:59:40 PM
@Rob from Maryland 🦀 - Thank you!
Lizbot (host) 8:00:19 PM
@Alex from Media - haha, thanks! I try! I definitely missed some chat comments during mic breaks, especially around 6:20!
Lizbot (host) 8:00:35 PM
@Arlene Machiavelli - Thank you! Have a great weekend!
Lizbot (host) 8:01:03 PM
Thanks Ossy! I hope you end up having a good weekend despite cancelled plans!
Lizbot (host) 8:01:33 PM
Hi Sean Burns! Nice! I haven't seen him in ages either. Always curious what he's up to with his paintings, too!
Lizbot (host) 8:01:49 PM
@Dale Hazelton - thanks for tuning in!
Lizbot (host) 8:04:05 PM
Thanks everyone! Stay cool and have a great weekend! See you back here on the other side of my weekend trip to NYC during which I'll take the teen to Rocky Horror as per her request, see the Glenn Branca tribute at Lincoln Center and possibly experience Knicks Mania!
MIKE CRUZ 8:04:27 PM
Lizbot is the greatest ever ! I swear she's in my head .
