I've enjoyed your shows, Dr. e.g.
edward glissando (host) 7:03:03 AM
Thanks Dave! I was really inspired by the show we co hosted during the Spring drive
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:03:27 AM
Bonjour Dr. Glissande. We are going to miss you and your shows :-(((
edward glissando (host) 7:03:54 AM
I appreciate it Rob! I'll miss hearing about your bird watching too
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:04:03 AM
Good luck with your move and with your next stage(s)
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:05:23 AM
On that note, I went to look for the Mississippi Kites nesting in DC yesterday afternoon https://www.audubon.org/field-guide/bird/mississippi-kite
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:07:04 AM
It is a southern insect-eating hawk that has expanded its range north in the past four decades.
edward glissando (host) 7:10:11 AM
Oh cool! How common is it to see them in DC?
edward glissando (host) 7:12:06 AM
And how does the range they travel change? Is it environmental factors?
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:14:06 AM
Asha <33 RIP 3
TAndy 7:15:43 AM
Mornin gents
edward glissando (host) 7:16:23 AM
Good morning TAndy!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:17:09 AM
It's the first nest found in DC; there are 2 nesting sites northwest of DC near Rockville, MD, and a handful of sites across the Potomac in northern Virginia. The species first started nesting in southern Virginia in the late 1980s iirc, in northern VA c. 1995, and in Maryland maybe 5 years ago
edward glissando (host) 7:18:41 AM
That's fascinating! And it's amazing that you were able to be see the first nest in DC
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:18:44 AM
The species winters in South American and migrates through Central America and Mexico to reach their USA nesting grounds. Their breeding range has expanded northward because of global warming
edward glissando (host) 7:20:45 AM
Sadly it doesn't surprise me that global warming is the culprit
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:22:36 AM
A teenage birder who lives near the DC nesting site noticed them last summer and put the word out. I saw both kites last summer a couple of times
edward glissando (host) 7:22:54 AM
Ahhhh gotcha
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:24:09 AM
And I've been going to the first-found of those Maryland nesting sites since it was first found (iirc another teen birder had a large role in finding those birds) 5 or 6 years ago
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:26:12 AM
Good morning TAndy and Dave the Obscure!
𓀠 ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 𓀡 7:28:33 AM

edward glissando (host) 8:04:30 AM
Thanks Rob! Get some rest. I always appreciated your enthusiasm for the show!
TAndy 8:05:56 AM

dan Cochrane 8:31:29 AM
Good morning…saw “Backrooms” yesterday, and I may go back today. It’s that good. Just saying.
edward glissando (host) 8:32:06 AM
Good morning! I gotta check that out. I've heard about it
dan Cochrane 8:34:14 AM
I’m so glad to have avoided spoiler reviews. Have fun.
edward glissando (host) 8:34:50 AM
Yeah I try not to read reviews before seeing something for that reason
dan Cochrane 8:36:31 AM
Great selections hear today. Weekend morning stream programming generally isn’t the best elsewhere. Thanks!
edward glissando (host) 8:36:44 AM
Thanks Dan! That's so kind of you to say
dan Cochrane 8:37:35 AM
Plus I’m only familiar with two so far. I like that.
edward glissando (host) 8:38:22 AM
so cool! anything in particular you've enjoyed?
TAndy 8:38:26 AM
Oooh this really is a best of. Lovely 💙
TAndy 8:38:38 AM

dan Cochrane 8:41:30 AM
Afro Cuban all stars. I’m desperate to visit Cuba, and Prague both
dan Cochrane 8:42:08 AM
Cross cultural whiplash as that sounds
edward glissando (host) 8:43:21 AM
So glad you liked Afro Cuban All Stars! This show is all about cross cultural whiplash, so I think that's great
dan Cochrane 8:46:38 AM
I’m a sucker for various world music samplers. Does anyone still put them out? Mine are all ‘90’s I think.
dan Cochrane 8:47:33 AM
As opposed to say Windam Hill samplers I’d say.
edward glissando (host) 8:47:38 AM
I know a few European labels that do, I recently picked up this comp https://www.discogs.com/release/35229745-Various-Dolores-Salsa-Guaracha-From-70s-French-West-Indies
dan Cochrane 8:48:32 AM
Which sound like Victoria Secret cd samplers, to me anyway.
edward glissando (host) 8:48:44 AM
Fania Records is reissuing a lot and making several compilations of key artists from their label
dan Cochrane 8:49:00 AM
Thanks for link
edward glissando (host) 8:49:16 AM
ofc!
dan Cochrane 8:49:51 AM
This is quite filmic to my ears
edward glissando (host) 8:49:57 AM
I think Mr Bongo also has a few comps too, they'rer great with Latin music
edward glissando (host) 8:50:12 AM
*they're
dan Cochrane 8:54:16 AM
One suggestion. After you see Backrooms, check out YouTube video tours of dead malls, Chicago suburbs. After.
edward glissando (host) 8:55:02 AM
Will do! Thanks Dan!
TAndy 8:55:24 AM
Thanks for all of the excellent shows during your time here, Ed. I appreciated every time you've been on, and I hope to hear more of you at some point in the future!
dan Cochrane 8:56:02 AM
Great set
edward glissando (host) 8:56:07 AM
Thanks TAndy! I'll have a few sub shows throughout the summer :)
edward glissando (host) 8:56:25 AM
Thanks Dan!!
dan Cochrane 8:59:47 AM
Or as my HS Spanish teacher, Mrs. Dwyer called me, “Daniel Premeiro!”
edward glissando (host) 9:00:45 AM
I love that!
