Saw Fripp and the League of Crafty Guitarists at the Stone Pony. I beleive they were students of his. Viruousity yes, but super creepy.

I saw Fripp WITH the Crafty Guitarists in Berlin. In a sort of classroom. Wild stuff

@Alex Crowe - Haha, why creepy? Fripp is teaching one of his guitar workshops in upstate NY soon. My husband always entertains the idea of attending those, but the timing is never right! We have a couple friends who attended his workshops and there is an element where he basically has you meditate/stare at a wall, probably a Gurdjieff thing, and that part would drive George up the wall!

@Ted - Ah, a King Crimson hiatus period/side projects era!

Creepy in a sort of cult vibe. All eyes and ears on the master. Lots of follow the leader and handing off. All carefully synchronized. Hard to describe.

@Alex Crowe - haha, yeah, I lived their album title last summer when driving in hellacious traffic in the South of France looking for St. Tropez!

@Alex Crowe - Oh yeah, he has his serious devotees, for sure! I don't buy into all his Gurdjieff stuff, but I admire his "Discipline"! Impressive, for sure. Gotta admire his work ethic and dedication to practicing many hours a day (not so much now that he's basically retired, he's making goofy cover videos with Toyah and feeding birds in his garden a lot these days!)

@Alex Crowe - Speaking of Crimson devotees, my husband spent a lot of time on the "Elephant Talk" online bulletin board in the 90s! ha. Lots of KC fans debating and exchanging guitar tablature

Incredible ability and great results born of diligent study. Discipline album is spot on.

@Alex Crowe - Yes. Of course, not necessarily easy to work with! He seems affable enough, but he certainly demands excellence! Has a sense of humor though!

@Alex Crowe / @Ted - Speaking of Fripp guitar workshops, one of our friends who attended is Reg Bloor, guitarist in the Paranoid Critical Revolution, and wife of the late composer Glenn Branca, and she has put together a memorial performance of Glenn's "Hallucination City" for 100 guitars at Lincoln Center on June 12th!

Saw King Crimson on the Discipline album tour. Went in expecting old KC and got my mind blown by the new stuff. It turned out to be more up my alley. Glad he's got a sense of humor.

@Alex Crimson - Ah, well that's another thing i like about Fripp - Not afraid to try new things musically! Not married to one line-up of King Crimson (much to Adrian Belew's frustration!)

Speaking of Cheer-Accident, are you aware of the Aadam Jacobs collection on the Internet Archive. Chicago music lover who taped thousands of concerts that are being made available for free download. I counted 28 C-A shows from 2001-17. Truly amazing story

Hi GhettoCabbage! Mark E. Smith came to be interviewed by the DJ that used to be on air directly before me 23/24 years ago, Greg Lyon, and they got along like gangbusters! Greg was worried beforehand due to MES's reputation as a bit of a salty guy! I was at an ill-fated Fall show in Philly where MES yelled at the band the whole set and then left!

@Ted - I will have to check that out. Fellow Cheer-Accident fan Deb in Baltimore send me a DVD-R of a CA concert she filmed there years ago. I have quit a few I recorded - All Philly shows from the Table Space, Avant Gentleman's Lodge, The Rotunda, etc, from 2003 to the present! But do not have them all organized or online! In one they play a tribute to my birds!

So far I’ve downloaded a couple of Shonen Knife and Neil Innes(!) shows. It’s intimidating.

@Ted - Taper Tom (Tom Lindel Lieis) was a real fixture in the Philly avant composed and improvisational and jazz music scenes. Always saw him at Fire Museum Presents, Bowerbird Presents, etc. shows. He generally kept to himself. Suddenly, he stopped showing up about a year ago and we found out he had passed away
