Hello Hello! Happy May!
Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt 5:05:01 PM
Hello Lizbot! "A show of hands" is a line from Game Theory's song "Not Because You Can".
Lizbot (host) 5:05:20 PM
Hello Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt!
Lizbot (host) 5:07:09 PM
@Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt - Ah, I took it from the Victor Wooten song of the same name, which I'll be playing later in today's show! I think I've seen it used elsewhere too. There was a store on Pine St in Philly also called A Show of Hands
Lizbot (host) 5:08:15 PM
@Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt - I think that store is still there but not sure. i worked a couple doors down from it 25 years ago! Owner was very nice
Danosaur🦖 5:08:52 PM
Hello Lizbot and Marcus!
Lizbot (host) 5:09:00 PM
Hello Danosaur🦖!
Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt 5:09:25 PM
Hello Danosaur!
Danosaur🦖 5:10:04 PM
I'm sitting here figuring out my mail in ballot. Lots to vote on here.
Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt 5:10:21 PM
1983 FOREVER!
Lizbot (host) 5:10:36 PM
@Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt - YES!
Danosaur🦖 5:10:44 PM
Ooh, Echo and the Bunnymen
Lizbot (host) 5:11:35 PM
@Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt - Not sure where that phrase originates from. I was never a Rush fan, but my brother was in the 80s and I remember there was a live album also called A Show of Hands, but it was from after that Game Theory song!
Lizbot (host) 5:12:37 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Good luck with your mail-in ballots! I am so glad that's an option. Lots of good reasons for it!
Danosaur🦖 5:13:24 PM
Yeah, it makes voting much more convenient
Danosaur🦖 5:13:39 PM
This song is a rump shaker
Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt 5:14:04 PM
Rush 1989, Game Theory 1987
Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt 5:14:34 PM
Danosaur: Pharell Williams wrote "Rump Shaker"
Lizbot (host) 5:14:43 PM
@Danosaur🦖 / @Marcus - I went to see Echo and the Bunnymen at Franklin Music Hall...(ugh! The Electric Factory was such a better name!)...and the show was fine but man, Electric Factory/FMH has always had bad sightlines and not great sound, and it was packed and we got there a bit late, so we were in that godforsaken under-bar area where you cannot see a damn thing!
Lizbot (host) 5:15:42 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - I'm tryna wake myself up with Gap Band and other upbeat songs today! I got far too little sleep and my dog woke me at 3:30 am, at which point I never managed to fall back asleep!
Lizbot (host) 5:15:55 PM
I love that drum roll!!
Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt 5:16:07 PM
Gap Band is straight fire, as the kids say
Lizbot (host) 5:16:15 PM
@Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt - Yeah, I think Rush copied Game Theory!
Lizbot (host) 5:16:39 PM
@Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt - This song is such a classic.
Danosaur🦖 5:16:44 PM
Might I suggest Brick House and Play That Funky Music from the same time period?
Danosaur🦖 5:17:06 PM
That drum roll is good
Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt 5:17:18 PM
Lolita Nation is a fantastic album
Lizbot (host) 5:17:47 PM
@Danosaur🦖- Gonna play some Esther Phillips to go with that Gap Band!
Danosaur🦖 5:18:22 PM
@Lizbot - I trust your judgement completely
Danosaur🦖 5:19:04 PM
Hopefully, we get to hear some of Ethel Merman's disco oeuvre
Lizbot (host) 5:20:00 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - I appreciate that! I also just can't deal with Play That Funky Music! Brick House chorus does pop in my head on occasion, the "hooooooouse" delivered with such gusto!
Danosaur🦖 5:22:07 PM
@Lizbot - Understand completely. Play That Funky Music just triggers a very specific memory of hot boxing in a friend's car outside drama practice in high school
Danosaur🦖 5:24:46 PM
Now we're rockin'
Lizbot (host) 5:25:02 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Alas, no Ethel, Disco Duck, or Florence Foster Jenkins today!
Lizbot (host) 5:25:47 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - ha! Now that's a very specific memory, not necessarily a bad association!
Danosaur🦖 5:26:34 PM
@Lizbot - Not bad at all
Danosaur🦖 5:27:32 PM
Delta 5 bringing the attitude
Lizbot (host) 5:29:12 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - I love the Delta 5 so much. That's a band I made a point of collecting all their 7"'s back in my 20s, always looking for their singles at record fairs
Danosaur🦖 5:29:17 PM
Oh, man I remember this Heaven 17 song
Lizbot (host) 5:30:08 PM
Neverending Story - reminiscent bridge here!
Danosaur🦖 5:31:00 PM
This type of music was such a revelation to me in the 80's
Danosaur🦖 5:31:25 PM
It was like I had found my people
SV In Like Flynn 5:31:47 PM
First 30 minutes are my college days listening to WKDU and YNMT on WXPN. ☺️
Lizbot (host) 5:33:32 PM
Hello SV In Like Flynn!
Lizbot (host) 5:34:21 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - I drive faster unintentionally when I play that Heaven 17 song in my car!
Danosaur🦖 5:34:52 PM
@Lizbot - I can understand that
Lizbot (host) 5:35:01 PM
@SV In Like Flynn - Aw, Lee Paris! Well his show DID influence me!
Lizbot (host) 5:35:55 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Same! Synth-pop/New Wave will live forever in my heart! I was such a synth/keyboards kid. Loved dancing to that stuff!
Danosaur🦖 5:36:46 PM
Out here it was KROQ with Jed the Fish, Richard Blade, Swedish Eagle, etc...
Danosaur🦖 5:39:11 PM
@Lizbot - I was so disappointed when the music shifted to being all mopey and sad in the 1990's. Life is too hard to listen to dour music. We need to dance through the madness
Lizbot (host) 5:39:14 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Even though I've always been an East Coast kid, I was very aware of KROQ even when growing up, probably because it was mentioned in movies like Valley Girl...and my favorite band, Sparks, was ALSO featured in Valley Girl, at least their music was! Might play them soon...
SV In Like Flynn 5:39:26 PM
@lizbot You heard Lee on the radio? He died in 1986.
SV In Like Flynn 5:40:34 PM
If there’s more cassettes of Lee Paris I’d love to hear them.
Danosaur🦖 5:41:04 PM
@Lizbot - Yeah, back in the day KROQ broke a lot of new wave bands and played great, cutting-edge music
Lizbot (host) 5:41:16 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Same. Yeah, my theory [it doesn't hold that much water, but works in a vague sense!] is: The harder the era, the lighter/funner the music, to balance things out. During the Great Depression pop songs were like "Life Is Like a Bowl of Cherries" FFS! The 90s had relative prosperity, minus a recession, but still. AND I think every generation feels they need to push back culturally on the previous trend
Lizbot (host) 5:42:21 PM
@SV In Like Flynn - Yes! I was a kid! I was hlued to the radio!
Lizbot (host) 5:42:49 PM
@SV In Like Flynn - He impressed me with those Philadelphia Zoo shows!
Danosaur🦖 5:42:54 PM
@Lizbot - No, that makes sense. They say bright colors become more popular when times are tough too.
Scurrow Squirrel 5:48:38 PM
That set was full of bangers
Scurrow Squirrel 5:49:32 PM
I played with king missile once - I played accordion on "detachable penis" and "jesus was way cool"
Norman Burnosky 5:49:37 PM
Still mad that its government name isn't electric factory. Another strike against livenation for not letting the new owners use that name
Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt 5:50:19 PM
Lizbot: "Rodney on the ROQ" was a classic Hardcore Punk record from the early 80's
Lizbot (host) 5:50:26 PM
I just realized Simon Bookish sounds like Peter Hammill from Van der Graaf Generator...I don't know why this only occurred to me now
Lizbot (host) 5:50:36 PM
Hello Scurrow Squirrel!
Lizbot (host) 5:50:57 PM
@Scurrow Squirrel - Glad you enjoyed the set!
Lizbot (host) 5:51:08 PM
Hello Norman Burnosky!
Danosaur🦖 5:51:37 PM
@Scurrow Squirrel - hats off to playing Detachable Penis on accordion
Lizbot (host) 5:52:30 PM
@Scurrow Squirrel - Oh no way! My husband and I love reading John S. Hall's poem-a-day poems! Some are just funny, like most King Missile songs, and some are surprisingly sentimental. I admire his commitment to the project!
Danosaur🦖 5:53:40 PM
@Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt - The Rodney on the Rock show was a fixture on KROQ in the 80's
Lizbot (host) 5:54:02 PM
@Norman Burnosky - Yes! It's so annoyed. It will ALWAYS be The Electric Factory to me! Too many early very formative concerts in my life seen there to just dishonor it like that!
Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt 5:54:34 PM
Didn’t Rodney bring Nena to the U.S. radio?
Lizbot (host) 5:54:46 PM
@Scurrow Squirrel - ha! "Jesus Was Way Cool" is one of the King Missile songs that gets quoted the most in my household!
Danosaur🦖 5:55:58 PM
@Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt - he may have. He actually introduced a lot of bands.
Lizbot (host) 5:57:07 PM
@SV In Like Flynn - Didn't get to say this earlier because I was about to go on mic, but to further answer yr Lee Paris question: Yes, we had the radio on all the time in my house, but I also rediscovered him on YouTube long after his death because there are old airchecks and whatnot uploaded of yesterday's Now music today
Number 6 6:02:13 PM
Greetings!
Lizbot (host) 6:03:45 PM
@Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt / @Danosaur🦖 - I maintain Nur geträumt was the best song on that self-titled Nena album that also had 99 Luftballoons, though I still love that song too
Lizbot (host) 6:04:02 PM
Hello Number 6!
Danosaur🦖 6:04:57 PM
Oh, yeah! This song is a classic
Scurrow Squirrel 6:05:18 PM
John S. HALL actually wrote an impromptu poem for the show. It was about eating a vegan donut
Danosaur🦖 6:06:58 PM
Dr John treating what ails you
Lizbot (host) 6:07:11 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Yeah, it's such a great song, this whole album is great. Art Neville's organ lick really adds so much to it!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:07:46 PM
The Fall!!!
Lizbot (host) 6:07:50 PM
@Scurrow Squirrel - Oh whoa! I love that! The more John S. Hall poems, the better!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:07:58 PM
and hi Lizbot and everyone!
Lizbot (host) 6:08:01 PM
Hello Rob from MaryTweeland 🦀!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:08:07 PM
Hey Danosaur
Danosaur🦖 6:08:23 PM
Hey, Rob!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:08:51 PM
Oh yeah, I was from MaryTweeland this morning for MJ's amusent
Lizbot (host) 6:09:31 PM
@Rob from MaryTweeland 🦀 - I frequently quote this song, especially when I pass a steak place like Fogo de Chao in downtown Philly. I've never been inside, I just like singing this at the top of my lungs while walking by it!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:10:06 PM
Danosaur, are you in touch with Shmal? My wife and I are both very sad.
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:11:10 PM
Lizbot, are you in the right place at the right time when you sing "The Steak Place"
Lizbot (host) 6:11:33 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - The one and only time I saw Dr. John live was a happy accident during which I was on a dog walk as a teen in the early 90s, walked my dog to Cooper River Park in South Jersey, and stumbled upon a free outdoor Dr. John concert on a lovely spring day! But I've told that story before on air I'm sure!
Danosaur🦖 6:12:48 PM
@Lizbot - what a wonderful bit of serendipity to stumble upon a Dr John concert
Lizbot (host) 6:13:27 PM
@Rob from MaryTweeland 🦀 - Indeed! One must only sing that song when they are desperate for food, desperate for respite.
Danosaur🦖 6:13:29 PM
@Rob - I am not. What happened?
Danosaur🦖 6:18:33 PM
I do like that Neko Case cover of that Sparks song
SV In Like Flynn 6:22:59 PM
As discussed last week, I love Sparks Long RedLight and bought on Bandcamp and put it on my Driving playlist. A bit on the opposite end of Highway Star.
Lizbot (host) 6:24:51 PM
@SV In Like Flynn - I love that it's the a meditative song on stalling/stopping in a car. Yes, the opposite of sooooo many fast driving songs like "I Can't Drive 55"!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:26:05 PM
Her father passed on the 24th, and she announced that at the start of last week's show which ended up being a rebroadcast of an earlier show
Danosaur🦖 6:28:45 PM
@Rob - Oh, that's too bad. I missed the beginning of last week's show so I didn't hear that. I know she is close with her family.
Danosaur🦖 6:30:00 PM
The Sparks documentary was really interesting. I had no idea about their story with all its ups and downs
Lizbot (host) 6:32:49 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - I was glad to see more photos of Ron & Russell's dad. He really looked a lot like Ron! He was the big film buff who influenced their love of movies and soundtracks
Danosaur🦖 6:34:00 PM
I always liked the rawness of this Beatles song
Danosaur🦖 6:34:49 PM
Of course monkeys don't hide much - no pockets
Lizbot (host) 6:35:10 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - True! They're even brazen when they pickpocket!
Danosaur🦖 6:35:55 PM
@Lizbot - You can really hear the theatricality in Sparks songs. Just made for movies
Danosaur🦖 6:37:34 PM
Ween really runs the musical gamut
thomas hatch 6:38:01 PM
Love Ween!
Lizbot (host) 6:38:18 PM
Hi thomas hatch!
Danosaur🦖 6:38:25 PM
The first Ween song I heard was "Help Me Scrape The Mucus Off My Brain"
Danosaur🦖 6:39:12 PM
Now if I heard an ice cream truck playing this song I would definitely go outside
thomas hatch 6:39:46 PM
Hi LB. First Ween song I heard was push up the daisies and I thought it was awful but I figured it out later
Lizbot (host) 6:39:50 PM
@thomas hatch - I jumped on tickets to see Ween at the Mann Music Center a couple Septembers ago, but it was not to be! Was supposed to be the Chocolate and Cheese 30th anniversary show
thomas hatch 6:40:34 PM
Deener needed a break I think
Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt 6:40:39 PM
This Ice Cream Truck thing was also used in "Chain Hang Low" by Chingy in 2006
Lizbot (host) 6:40:54 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - haha, yeah, this is the classic ice cream truck jingle for me! Accept no substitutions!
Joe Moore 6:41:04 PM
Totally got the kids running from their rooms with that last one.
Danosaur🦖 6:41:46 PM
Favorite ice cream truck treat?
SV In Like Flynn 6:42:28 PM
Sad to confess I know very little of Weens music but quite aware they've been performing Trenton Philly area for decades. Always fun to see their name pop up on City Garden and Troc posters that get posted on Facebook and Instagram.
thomas hatch 6:42:30 PM
Chocolate eclairs
Lizbot (host) 6:42:50 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - As far as Ween running the musical gamut, I love that song they did called "Your Party" from La Cucaracha. While not my favorite Ween song at all, it kinda cracks me up as the "we're poking fun at "serious" dinner parties" song!
Lizbot (host) 6:43:18 PM
Hi Joe Moore! Haha, Sorry kids!!
Lizbot (host) 6:43:43 PM
@Joe Moore - Now I owe everyone ice cream
Danosaur🦖 6:43:44 PM
@Lizbot - I'll have to check that out. Sounds fun
Lizbot (host) 6:44:10 PM
@Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt - Huh, gonna have to check out that Chingy track!
Danosaur🦖 6:44:14 PM
I always liked the Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake bar
Lizbot (host) 6:45:13 PM
@thomas hatch - Yeah, I think Deener wasn't doing so well. My friend show is a much much bigger Ween fan than me, (I like them, but she is like full Boognish fan club etc etc,) called it when she bought tickets to but bet it was 70% unlikely to happen
Lizbot (host) 6:45:31 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - mmm, pink and cream crumble...crumb-coated!
Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt 6:45:44 PM
Lizbot: the video features an ice cream truck
Lizbot (host) 6:46:34 PM
@SV In Like Flynn - Ween recorded my favorite album of theirs, The Mollusk, on the south tip of Long Beach Island in Holgate. I always think of that album when I've driving on LBI!
Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt 6:46:39 PM
Danosaur: Strawberry Shortcake, Toasted Almond or a Bomb Pop

thomas hatch 6:47:32 PM
@LB I just hope we get another chance to see them.
Scurrow Squirrel 6:48:23 PM
The first time I ever heard ween was on Beavis and Butthead - they played "Can't put my finger on it"
Danosaur🦖 6:48:29 PM
Does anyone remember Catherine O'Hara as the ice cream truck driver chasing Griffen Dunne's character in After Hours?
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:48:49 PM
And Slapp Happy!!!
Lizbot (host) 6:49:05 PM
@thomas hatch - Yeah, same. Who knows...It seems to be too much for Mickey
Lizbot (host) 6:51:02 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Yes! And Teri Garr as the Donovan-listening stuck-in-the-60s girl! God, what a cast! I think about that movie a lot. Catherine O'Hara was such a freaking comedic genius. We were lucky she walked this earth
Rob from Maryland 🦀 6:51:09 PM
BONGWATER!!! Oh wait, it's ... the original!
Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt 6:51:24 PM
After Hours! Featuring the Bad Brains "Pay to Cum" at Teddy's plus Cheech and Chong
Danosaur🦖 6:51:26 PM
This song has real jam band vibes
Lizbot (host) 6:51:49 PM
@Scurrow Squirrel - Hearing Ween on Beavis & Butthead VERY much tracks. B&B was also a lot of people's introduction to King Missile!
SV In Like Flynn 6:52:06 PM
@Danosaur After Hours is a dark comedy classic! do remember more of Terri Garr in the movie and remember the ice cream truck gathering a posse of vigilantes to hunt Griffin Dunne. Time for a rewatch.
Danosaur🦖 6:52:29 PM
@Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt - That scene in the club is where Martin Scorsese makes a cameo as the spotlight operator
Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt 6:53:35 PM
I lived above El Teddy's in Tribeca back in the day, at night it's weird down there for sure
Danosaur🦖 6:53:58 PM
@SV In Like Flynn - 100% agree. I remember Rosanna Arquette having an illustrated book of scars in her apartment
Marcus "Monthly Donor" Haupt 6:54:13 PM

Monkey banana kitchen sounds like part of a cognitive test
Lizbot (host) 7:03:51 PM
@SV In Like Flynn - Sooo good. I heard that the plot of After Hours was SO similar to radio artist/storyteller Joe Frank's 1982 monologue "Lies," which aired on NPR Playhouse, that Frank sued Scorcese for plagiarism/copyright infringement and won! Still doesn't change the fact that that is a great movie!
Lizbot (host) 7:04:27 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - I love a Marty Scorcese or, even better, a Marty's mother cameo!
Danosaur🦖 7:06:53 PM
@Lizbot - I never heard that about Joe Frank. I can definitely see that though. His After Dark shows were very weird and surreal like the movie After Hours
Danosaur🦖 7:08:45 PM
I remember lying in bed late on Saturday nights with the lights off listening to Joe Frank.
Lizbot (host) 7:09:04 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Yeah, it makes sense. He had that surreal Spalding Gray style to his storytelling, and similar time period
Danosaur🦖 7:11:10 PM
Oh, yeah. Love this garage band sound
Lizbot (host) 7:12:29 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - East L.A.'s finest! I love this song. FIrst heard it on a garage rock comp called Urban Spacemen & Wayfaring Strangers decades ago
Danosaur🦖 7:13:50 PM
Reminded me a bit of Psychotic Reaction by Count Five
Danosaur🦖 7:14:25 PM
You don't hear many songs about mass transit
Danosaur🦖 7:14:49 PM
Well, I guess there was Magic Bus
Lizbot (host) 7:16:20 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - What about the band Chicago's original name?! An homage to the entire Chicago Transit Authority!
Danosaur🦖 7:16:48 PM
@Lizbot - True
Lizbot (host) 7:17:08 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Not sure "Magic Bus" was public transit, though...Looked like a graffitied up tour bus on the single cover!
Danosaur🦖 7:18:08 PM
@Lizbot - it was public transit of the mind, man
Danosaur🦖 7:19:26 PM
It's all about the bass with this song
Lizbot (host) 7:19:38 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - As far as public transit songs: Lots about trains! Robyn Hitchcock's "I Often Dream of Trains". I did a whole DOubleplusgood episode of train songs during the Fall Drive in 2025 named after that song. It was "I Often Dream of Trains: Railway Songs". Lots to choose from since people love to romanticize and write about trains!
Lizbot (host) 7:20:00 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - My husband the bassist of course loves Victor Wooten!
Danosaur🦖 7:20:56 PM
@Lizbot - Now that I think of it there probably are a lot of train songs
Joe Moore 7:22:21 PM
Lol now the actual mr. Softee is here
Danosaur🦖 7:23:02 PM
@Joe Moore - we manifested Mr Softee
Danosaur🦖 7:25:44 PM
@Lizbot - frustrated? Throw someone in a trunk!
Jeanine Denitto 7:27:46 PM
I went to a food not bombs type house in west philly many years ago that had shows. Was it the same?
Lizbot (host) 7:29:14 PM
Hi Jeanine Denitto! The house I'm referring to was called Cobra House. It's long gone. It was the original home base of North Philly Food Not Bombs. And yes, we used to host shows in the basement. This was early 2000s
michael gudgeon 7:29:42 PM
sets been great lizbot!
Lizbot (host) 7:29:46 PM
@Jeanine Denitto - There was another FNB branch in West Philly, with some overlapping people involved in both
Lizbot (host) 7:29:52 PM
Hi michael gudgeon!
Lizbot (host) 7:30:00 PM
@michael gudgeon - Thanks, glad you're enjoying it!
Danosaur🦖 7:30:45 PM
See, she just mentioned trains!
Jeanine Denitto 7:30:47 PM
Lizbot, im sure.
Lizbot (host) 7:30:50 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - I would LOVE it if playing OCDJ's "Guess What?" had the effect of summoning the closest Mister Softee!
Lizbot (host) 7:33:02 PM
@Jeanine Denitto - Oh wow. Yeah, a bunch of friends lived there. It had a stone facade with a stone porch covered in bikes and a baby pool in the summer. I had my 25th birthday party there. The basement was rough. We had a lot of old trash-picked fridges and freezers for the Food Not Bombs donated food down there
Lizbot (host) 7:35:35 PM
@Jeanine Denitto - But if you went to one in West Philly, that was a different house. Cobra House was around Corinthian & Parrish (which I can say because it is loooong gone)
Danosaur🦖 7:40:14 PM
The horn section in this song reminds me of Belle and Sebastian
Danosaur🦖 7:43:54 PM
This Scott Walker song sounds like an alternate universe version of Lay Lady Lay
Lizbot (host) 7:44:06 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Oh absolutely yes! No wonder I like it. I love a great horn section and I love Belle & Sebastian. I'm seeing them two consecutive nights in NYC in a couple of weeks for the Tigermilk and If You're Feeling Sinister album anniversary tour!
Danosaur🦖 7:46:09 PM
I like this song. It's weird
Danosaur🦖 7:47:14 PM
@Lizbot - Belle and Sebastian are still popular with young people. I never would have predicted that
Danosaur🦖 7:47:47 PM
@Lizbot - I guess their themes are universal and still relevant
Dan Ruccia 7:49:50 PM
Damn, Lizbot. Hitting all the deep voiced songwriter dude highpoints with this set!
Lizbot (host) 7:50:13 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Yeah, and I think a lot of the younger people are more familiar with their "Wrapped Up In Books" "I'm a Cuckoo" and later era songs, but at their shows they pretty much mostly just play the older Jeepster Records era releases, which I am grateful for because I love everything from Tigermilk through Storytelling, plus all the early Jeepster EPs, and not so much anything after that!
Dan Ruccia 7:50:24 PM
Also, hi! Excited to be on the air after you tonight for the first time in forever (I think?)
Lizbot (host) 7:50:59 PM
Hi Dan Ruccia! haha, true! Vocal pitch descends throughout the program. Maybe the final song will be Thurl Ravenscroft!
Lizbot (host) 7:51:29 PM
@Dan Ruccia...Damn....Actually that's an idea for a theme show!
Danosaur🦖 7:51:48 PM
Wow! Never thought I'd hear a Thurl Ravenscroft reference today
Lizbot (host) 7:52:41 PM
@Danosaur🦖 - Some love The Grinch song, but my favorite Thurl jam is "NO DOGS ALLOWED!" from 1972's Snoopy Come Home!
Lizbot (host) 7:54:11 PM
@Dan Ruccia - Oh no way! You're the sub!! Excellent!!! Wow, yeah back to back Bot-Ruccia has not occurred in...20+ years?? There was that period back in like mid or late 2000s when our shows were back to back!
Lizbot (host) 7:54:41 PM
@Dan Ruccia - Psyched I can listen to Tomorrow Is an Octopus special sub edition on the drive home to Philly!
Danosaur🦖 7:54:57 PM
@Lizbot - The voice of Tony the Tiger too and I think he's also the voice of the narrator in the Disney Haunted Mansion
Dan Ruccia 7:55:41 PM
@Lizbot: Yup! I could make it work and we gotta make sure the radio keeps on. And yeah, like 2004 feels like the latest it could have been, since I moved to Friday afternoons in late 04
dandyandy 7:59:00 PM
Loved the sandman ish song you just played
Ted 7:59:35 PM
The world needs more Dressy Bessy!
Danosaur🦖 7:59:39 PM
That was Lounge Against the Machine I think
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:59:59 PM
Thx Lizbot for your show tonight!!
Lizbot (host) 8:00:01 PM
Hi dandyandy! haha, yeah that ID always cracks me up!
Danosaur🦖 8:00:28 PM
Thanks for the music and chat!
Lizbot (host) 8:00:47 PM
Hi Ted! Yes! THe kid used that DB song for a student film years ago to great effect!
Lizbot (host) 8:00:54 PM
Thanks, Rob from Maryland 🦀!
Lizbot (host) 8:01:01 PM
Thanks, Danosaur🦖!
Lizbot (host) 8:01:42 PM
@Dan Ruccia - That sounds about right! There was a period where it was Greg Lyon, then me, then you!
Lizbot (host) 8:03:01 PM
See you next Thursday! Time for Tomorrow Is an Octopus special sub edition!
