Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:02:37 PM
I'm in my own Studebaker Rocketship
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:02:59 PM
How are you?
Mike Constantine 12:03:01 PM

Mike Constantine 12:03:12 PM
Can't complain
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:03:14 PM
I'm glad, thanks!
Brian D 12:06:37 PM
Cool is NRBQ version next? Happy Wednesday Jerry
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:06:41 PM
Mike, did you ever find any more quad Ra?
Russell Woessner 12:07:02 PM
I love to hear the sound of Sun Ra in the afternoon.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:07:24 PM
I love those sentiments, Russ!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:07:47 PM
Your guy on sax
Brian D 12:07:50 PM
That cartoon sound effect bwhhooop bwwooop keyboard always makes me smile
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:08:02 PM
Ha, hi Brian!
Mike Constantine 12:08:41 PM
I haven't. But, I recently got a download of the mother of all Quad releases, Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music from a very rare Quad 8 track
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:09:47 PM
OMG, when that album was released it was like death. A two record set, I sold maybe 1 copy.
Mike Constantine 12:10:21 PM
It was OOP in three weeks
Brian D 12:10:24 PM
If you're going to be a band that can cover anything as their stump the band moments can prove, the NRBQ guys really showed their stuff by covering Sun Ra. Not yer average bar band
Mike Constantine 12:10:37 PM
RCA pulled it
Patrick White 12:11:25 PM
Greetings to Gordski and his listeners. What a great day of pinch hitters. WILBO later on . Like Vic Davalillo and Manny Mota.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:12:01 PM
I don't recall that. My one copooy sat there so long I would have gladly sent it back, the corners of the album were curling.
Patrick White 12:12:16 PM
Brian ….Bob Brainen on WFMU is a big NRBQ guy.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:12:51 PM
I fancy myself as Dave Philly
Mike Constantine 12:13:08 PM
Largest returns in RCA history
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:13:51 PM
They were/are fantastic people. They hooked up Ra with their booking agent. They were terrific mensches.
Russell Woessner 12:15:11 PM
I played Metal Machine Music on 88.9 when the DJ who followed my show was late one day. When he arrived, he immediately ripped it off the turntable.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:15:23 PM
But in time, I believe that album was re-appraised for it's music value.
Patrick White 12:15:42 PM
You can’t beat RCA . Greatest mascot Nipper The Dog.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:15:44 PM
Good one, Russ! There's that mean streak showing up!
Mike Constantine 12:16:04 PM
I bet he did!
Christine 𓅓𓅥 𓅊 12:16:36 PM
Hey Jerry! Hi chat 👋
Patrick White 12:17:12 PM
Then the pencil neck geek who followed Russ put a Phish record on the turntable
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:17:29 PM
Hi Christine, nice to see you, thanks. I have pre-loaded this show with a ton of percussion for you.
Adamgoget 12:17:30 PM
Wow another day of jerry and the crew.
Patrick White 12:17:38 PM
Greetings to Christine .
Christine 𓅓𓅥 𓅊 12:18:16 PM

Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:22:43 PM
Patrick, you just captured the entire history of philadelphia in a very short sentence. Should be in Wikipedia
Patrick White 12:25:21 PM
Speaking of Philadelphia history this first annual Goat Festival at 2nd Street and Jefferson looks like a grand time for anyone interested
Russell Woessner 12:25:58 PM
Patrick, I haven’t seen the Pastorius Park schedule yet.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:26:30 PM
I just watched an hour long video, very good, by a professor on tips to make a powerful, unforgetfull speech. One of his things was "Don't thank people for attending the speech." It derived from the import of the speech. Well I need to thank all m radio friends for tuning in today, really!
Patrick White 12:27:16 PM
Well Jerry it was either this or Tampa Bay Devil Rays matinee baseball
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:27:47 PM
I can see your point!
Patrick White 12:28:09 PM
Also I highly recommend the series of Saturday events….Philadelphia City of Firsts 250
Christine 𓅓𓅥 𓅊 12:28:15 PM
Great info, @Patrick. The Nanny Goat Fest looks like an interesting event that memorializes the Nanny Goat Riots of 1844.

Patrick White 12:29:43 PM
Thanks for paying attention Christine. I just spent 3 hours on Marvin Rosen show talking to myself. Tough crowd.Reminds me of a mausoleum gig I did once.
Mike Constantine 12:30:14 PM
They were dying to see you
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:31:10 PM
Ha! Can you "Dig" it?
Patrick White 12:31:32 PM
Mike that’s when I knew my comedy career was at a dead end.
Christine 𓅓𓅥 𓅊 12:32:07 PM
@Patrick but no hecklers, guaranteed.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:32:40 PM
Patrick, when you go into some of these chats, you can't start off with "Hello ladies and germs!"
Mike Constantine 12:33:30 PM
I just flew in from New York and boy,........
Patrick White 12:33:31 PM
The ATHLETICS baseball team in town and hopefullly former AS pitcher 100 year old Bobby Schantz is watching. Amazingly his first MLB manager was born during the Civil War.
Patrick White 12:35:07 PM
Actually Jerry I was going to request THE GERMS. I thought you were doing a 3 hour punk show
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:37:06 PM
One of my biggest regrets: I was at a library book sale which I used to frequent like an addict, buying more books than I could ever read because they were great and cheap. I found this ancient Connie Mack biography which no one bought because it didn't have a bar code and was therefore missed by the Scanner People. In the end I put it back, saying to myself I had already found too many books for the day. One of my biggest regrets.
Mike Constantine 12:39:36 PM
I got some great old books at the Nyack Library sales
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:40:31 PM
It always feels like stealing, what a thrill when you find a spectacular book for $2
Mike Constantine 12:41:08 PM
Oh yeah....for sure
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:41:52 PM
2 people i know who are huge readers and can be found in this chat (that I KNOW, but probably everybody here" is Christine and. Russ.
Patrick White 12:42:04 PM
Some lady in Phoenixville gave us a bunch of children’s books for free. Now I need to find a cattle prod to get the 9 year old to read them
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:43:23 PM
I hear you. My 4 year old grandson wants to watch videos on his mother's phone.
Patrick White 12:43:25 PM
Russ and Christine are such avid readers they read my autobiography..I PATRICK!! I was widely misquoted in the book.
Mike Constantine 12:44:09 PM
Loved Ray Bradbury when I was a yon teen
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:44:54 PM
There you go! Now you're talkin'!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:45:15 PM
I don't want no steenkin' Wuthering Heights.
Patrick White 12:46:34 PM
I remember what a pompous ass Meshell was when she first got popular. She did a contentious interview with Michaela Majoun where she acted like she thought she was a big shot like Frankie Valli or something
Patrick White 12:47:07 PM
Then she faded but came back with a little bit of humility.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:47:39 PM
She's NO Frankie Valli! She's no Bobby Vinton.
Mike Constantine 12:48:02 PM
She's no Cozy Morely
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:48:26 PM
Ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:49:49 PM
Russ just finished re-reading Louisa May Alcott's "Little Women" for the third time, and just started The Scarlett Letter again.
Mike Constantine 12:50:18 PM
oy vey
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:51:09 PM
As I recall, Mike, you didn't love the Russ Woessner-like "classics" back in the day.
Russell Woessner 12:52:16 PM
Marshall Allen’s 102nd birthday coming up: https://www.arsnovaworkshop.org/programs/marshall-allen-102nd-birthday-celebration/
Mike Constantine 12:52:23 PM
Not so much...we had to read Albert Camus in 10th grade...wasn't a fan then
Mike Constantine 12:53:56 PM
Oh man....I love this song
Christine 𓅓𓅥 𓅊 12:54:02 PM
Mustt mustt! 💜 Tablas in space
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:54:51 PM
Was your reaction similar to Charlie Brown, who only heard the sound of "Wah Wah" coming out of his teacher's mout?
Christine 𓅓𓅥 𓅊 12:55:02 PM
Percussion! 🪘
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:55:14 PM
Christine, we are entering your own personal percussion segment.
Mike Constantine 12:55:22 PM
I barely heard that
Russell Woessner 12:55:44 PM
Actually, Jerry I am reading a new collection of essays about Leonard Cohen. Recommended! https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/popular-music/article/abs/world-of-leonard-cohen-edited-by-david-r-shumway-cambridge-cambridge-university-press-2026-378-pp-isbn-9781009350594/C4F55A891F22AD56BFF9A8053381BCB7
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:56:46 PM
In this song, Nusrat is asking for the mustard.
Patrick White 12:57:49 PM
Highly recommend Bill Janovits biography of Leon Russell. He lived in interesting times. Truly a stranger in a strange land.
Brian D 12:59:07 PM
Khruangbin!
Christine 𓅓𓅥 𓅊 12:59:25 PM
This track's vibes are impeccable. 💜💜💜
Mike Constantine 12:59:36 PM
Saw Leon Russell at the Chestnut Cabaret...he was like a robot at the piano. Strange show
Russell Woessner 12:59:52 PM
And Mike, I can also recommend the recent movie adaptation of Camus’ The Stranger: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Stranger_(2025_film)
Patrick White 1:00:21 PM
Happy 95 th birthday to Willie Mays. Only mlb player referenced in a Rolling Stones song.
Mike Constantine 1:00:30 PM
Perhaps it's time, Russ
Patrick White 1:01:53 PM
Russ used to read excerpts of CAMUS on his radio shows much to the chagrin of his corporate masters.
Brian D 1:02:34 PM
Bill Janovitz (writer of bios & also member of Buffalo Tom) also wrote a great book on The Cars. Really dug in there and did it well.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:03:20 PM
The last entertainment book Russ suggested to me was the biography of Ether Merman. I will go with Bill Janovitz.
Yo-Yo Mok 1:03:26 PM
Trippy set 😎
Patrick White 1:06:56 PM
Not sure how many tuned in Sunday night but Gordski paid a nice tribute to 52 year PRB radio DJ John Weingart. Our Jerry a true mensch.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:10:31 PM
Yo-Yo Mok, how are you?
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:11:47 PM
Thank you, Patrick. You have such great respect for John, thank you for whispering in my ear about the tribute he deserves.
Christine 𓅓𓅥 𓅊 1:14:00 PM

Patrick White 1:18:13 PM

Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:28:32 PM
It's probably cost prohibitive to do a festival in Philadelphia
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:32:19 PM
