It's almost always male trees being planted since they don't leave behind any seed pods or fruit to make the ground look """"""""""""ugly""""""""""""" or whatever. The consequence is that they spew pollen EVERYWHERE and there isn't anything we can do about it. Anecdotally, I see less and less maple trees with the "helicopter" seed pods that I used to see so often as a child.

Think about all the new developments that have decorative but overall useless trees, all male. Not enough trees to provide shade and heat relief in the summer either, gotta make room for 9000 foot wide roads.
