Hi Christine, welcome. That bird scared the hell our of me
dan Cochrane 12:21:35 PM
Don’t touch that dial!
vildachaya1 12:21:41 PM
This tune reminds me of the Chuck Berry Lyric "I got no kick against modern jazz,Unless they try to play it too darn fast,'
rick hallahan 12:22:14 PM
This is a great track! 100% energy!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:22:44 PM
Vildachaya, Christine, everybody here thank you for your donations! Christine, I think you will like all these tracks today!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:23:37 PM
No Dan, although he IS British and could have produced them. If you are not familiar with Mike Vernon, you will be shocked.
dan Cochrane 12:23:49 PM
“Tam Lin” my favorite Fairport Convention tune. Epic!
dan Cochrane 12:24:34 PM
Can’t wait! Joe Boyd, before he moved as well.
Brian D 12:24:44 PM
Richard Thompson gets better every time we see him. Total pro.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:24:50 PM
Haha, Vilda. CLASSIC! A BEATLES favorite too! Can you play Cuckoo on accordian?
vildachaya1 12:25:21 PM
@Dan At the very end of Tam Lin there's a cymbal hit - I heard one iof the musicians accidentally hit it - and it stayed in.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:25:41 PM
Yep, Joe Boyd! These guys are similar in certain ways.
dan Cochrane 12:26:21 PM
I saw London Wainright open for Thompson, Amnesia tour smallish club. They played together too!
Brian D 12:26:24 PM
That Joe Boyd book was good. White Bicycles. He was one of those "just about everywhere" people for a time and then some. Many right places at right times.
vildachaya1 12:26:38 PM
I plan to have a version of Cuckoo for you soon - My retirement from corporate software land is so close I can smell it
Christine 𓅓𓅥 𓅊 12:26:53 PM
I'm already liking these tracks 💎 some nice percussion on that last lively track @Jerry
dan Cochrane 12:27:05 PM
Vild, interesting!
Brian D 12:27:34 PM
Ya Loudo 3 and Richard go way back. Some good guitar session work on Loudo 3 lps. Loudo 3's 80th this year!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:27:39 PM
Well it was starting to get smelly, Vilda, and we need your version as well as some more sculpture work.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:29:28 PM
Christine, Dan told me you came out to one his movies. You are everywhere!
dan Cochrane 12:30:16 PM
I especially love his “Unrequited” with one live side.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:30:38 PM
The track after this is a surprise. A guitarist with whom I am unfamiliar with, KILLING it on Pat Martino's El Hombre
dan Cochrane 12:31:55 PM
Wow
rick hallahan 12:32:32 PM
B-3 makes the world go round!
dan Cochrane 12:33:35 PM
I can’t quite read the other cover players or composers.
rick hallahan 12:33:44 PM
The guitar artistry on this track is special!
dan Cochrane 12:34:23 PM
Got it!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:34:34 PM
Absolutely! The spirit of Pat Martino. Beautiful!
Christine 𓅓𓅥 𓅊 12:43:29 PM
@Jerry, Dan Buskirk's Bright Bulb Screenings are really something not to miss. He does an excellent job!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:44:55 PM
I know they must be fun. He also praised you for bringing a crowd.
Russell Woessner 12:46:55 PM
The Long Play Festival is happening this weekend in Brooklyn: https://bangonacan.org/long-play-2026/
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:47:28 PM
Hi Russ!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:48:35 PM
Is this that festival you are going to for one day and seeing a million artists, running from venue to venue?
Russell Woessner 12:51:56 PM
Yes, I will be there all day on Sunday.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:54:54 PM
What a day that's going to be!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:55:21 PM
Can you tell us who you will be seeing that day?
Russell Woessner 12:56:31 PM
I hope to hear music by Morton Feldman, Jeff Lederer & Mary LaRose, Steve Lehman & Mark Turner, Miles Okazaki, Marty Ehrlich, Steve Reich, Kris Davis, Philip Glass and Sylvie Courvoisier & Wadada Leo Smith.
Christine 𓅓𓅥 𓅊 1:11:37 PM

Hearing a B-3 swinging is so enjoyable. The trumpet ain't bad either.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:44:25 PM
It's the guitarist's CD! He lays back!
Richard of Rocky Hill 1:48:23 PM
Another super show, Jerry! And thanks for including that electrifying (pun intended) new cover by Flea and Nick Cave of "Wichita Lineman" ~ a classic which BOTH Bob Dylan and Billy Joel have called THE greatest song ever. And to give a you a solid sense of what a joke is the recent New York Times Magazine list of "The 30 Greatest Living American Songwriters," it leaves off Jimmy Webb ~ composer of this true masterpiece plus "MacArthur Park," "Didn't We," "Galveston" and many more.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:07:33 PM
Thanks, Richard. A terrible omission
Jimbo Q Jones 2:20:48 PM
I always preferred TYA's version over Cream's. I was able to see Alvin lee at the Tower Theater around '86
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:22:53 PM
Excellent, Q!
Jimbo Q Jones 2:28:33 PM
Love your show. I've been listening for most of this last decade. I'm usually driving so I do get to say hi.
David Shortell 2:28:34 PM
I always preferred the Blues Project's version over TYA's and Cream's.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:30:57 PM
Nice, David!
David Shortell 2:32:50 PM
I believe John Mayall appears in the expanded DVD edition of the Dylan documentary "Don't Look Back".
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:33:22 PM
In what context?
Russell Woessner 2:35:01 PM
I saw TYA on this triple bill at the Spectrum in 1970: https://concertposterauction.com/Content/listingImages/20221110/d0bf85cd-7429-4a9b-8d0e-9344995bb3a0_largesize.jpg It was an odd combination of acts.
David Shortell 2:36:30 PM
The only detail I remember is Dylan's observation that Mayall's new guitarist was in the Yardbirds.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:37:28 PM
Cool!
Mike Constantine 2:38:14 PM
Saw TYA at the Spectrum, November 72 with Chuck Berry opening but we got Bo Diddly instead
rick hallahan 2:40:31 PM
The bass player is killer!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:42:12 PM
Wild, Mike. How was Bo?
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:43:23 PM
Rick, you rocker you!
Mike Constantine 2:43:38 PM
Great....but we were expecting Chuck!
Jimbo Q Jones 2:43:57 PM
What year was the TYA w/ Procol Harum? Was Trower still with them? I really like PH
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:47:02 PM
Mike, did you ever get to see Chuck Berry?
Mike Constantine 2:50:56 PM
I did....Penn's Landing in the 80's. He was wearing some well worn doubleknit bell bottoms
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:52:59 PM
They were out of print by then!
Mike Constantine 2:55:50 PM
Slightly ripped...he was frugal I guess.
rick hallahan 2:56:20 PM
Jerry, it's so good to hear that WPRB did so well. You are a MAJOR part of the station's success! You gave us another totally enjoyable show today! Everybody enjoy your weekend!
Christine 𓅓𓅥 𓅊 2:57:02 PM
No more homework! 🚫📚📖📝 We're in Jerry's Room!
Christine 𓅓𓅥 𓅊 2:57:56 PM
🔥🔥🔥 Another top-drawer show, thanks Jerry!
David Shortell 2:58:22 PM
Anybody going to see Roger McGuinn perform at Monmouth University tonight? He lectured there last night!
Christine 𓅓𓅥 𓅊 2:59:24 PM
👏 👏 👏
Mike Constantine 2:59:30 PM
Till next time
Mike Constantine 2:59:45 PM
