Rob from Maryland 🦀 8:06:19 PM
Hello!
Tim (host) 8:06:48 PM
Hey Rob - whats new- made through another week to saturday night
Chris Mohr 8:07:20 PM
Tanya Donelly FTW
Tim (host) 8:08:39 PM

Rob from Maryland 🦀 8:11:46 PM
Hey Tim, I made it to Saturday too. Not too soon!
Tim (host) 8:12:10 PM
i know it was a rough friggin week
Rob from Maryland 🦀 8:17:21 PM
I saw Belly open up for Cranes at the 930 Club in DC back in the day. If I remember correctly. I was not all that familiar with either band and they both were amazing
TAndy 8:17:22 PM
Hey Tim and everyone
Tim (host) 8:17:34 PM
@ rob its great whne that hqappens
Tim (host) 8:17:43 PM
good morning tandy
Tim (host) 8:17:52 PM
its your morning right?
Rob from Maryland 🦀 8:18:05 PM
Hi Chris and TAndy!
Chris Mohr 8:19:40 PM
I saw Throwing Muses at City Gardens in Trenton. In either 1986 or 1987....
Chris Mohr 8:19:56 PM
Hi Rob and all!
TAndy 8:21:04 PM
Yeah. Hey Rob
Rob from Maryland 🦀 8:21:20 PM
Sounds good, Chris. I don't think I ever saw them even though their debut album was and is one of my all-time faves
Tim (host) 8:22:28 PM
@ chris how were they
Chris Mohr 8:24:23 PM
Good, of course! I have the idea that my friends Noise Petals opened but that could be projection. Their bass player loved them.
Tim (host) 8:25:48 PM
are teh noise petals on bandcamp?
Tim (host) 8:28:00 PM
just checked- no such luck
Chris Mohr 8:31:21 PM
Apparently Noise Petals are on collegeband.bandcamp.com!
Chris Mohr 8:31:48 PM
Per this from Princeton alumni magazine https://paw.princeton.edu/video/music-noise-petals
Chris Mohr 8:33:55 PM
My favorite song of theirs is "Were Yeats Gene Simmons." Their bassist, Jeremy Toback, is still releasing music as a solo act and as half of Renee and Jeremy, which started by making covers of 80s songs reimagined as lullabies....
Tim (host) 8:34:20 PM
nice ill have to check it out - it looks like they are princeton dudes to thier record would be in the wprb stacks i would think
TAndy 8:34:41 PM
Summer Madness! Pretty soon it will be aircon season...
Tim (host) 8:34:53 PM
Ill have to cheak out that yeats song -
Chris Mohr 8:36:03 PM
Last time I looked in the main stacks, the Noise Petals sleeve was there but the LP had been purged 😥
Tim (host) 8:36:03 PM
@ really cant wait for summer - this weather is just kinda making me blah...
Tim (host) 8:37:08 PM
what the hell .. man - that the whole thing just buy it fer gawds sake - dont steal so we all can listen to ugh
Tim (host) 8:37:44 PM
stealling from the stacks is low

0x7EA Roffle 8:38:50 PM

Tim (host) 8:39:02 PM
ya know what im calling Jim Rockford to solve who stole .. let me know if youwant to chip in -- 200 dollars a day plus expenses
0x7EA Roffle 8:39:56 PM
I might have a coupon.
Chris Mohr 8:41:39 PM
Can we get Columbo, too?
Tim (host) 8:42:26 PM
Sure why not == whoever solves it first gets a bonus
0x7EA Roffle 8:42:29 PM
Yup! Right there at the back of that old TV GUIDE.
Rob from Maryland 🦀 8:42:29 PM

0x7EA Roffle 8:43:52 PM
Heya Rob!

Tim (host) 8:49:33 PM

One of my early favorite albums
Tim (host) 8:50:23 PM
crosby?
0x7EA Roffle 8:50:33 PM
Oh yea
0x7EA Roffle 8:50:56 PM
CSN&Y was big.
Tim (host) 8:52:11 PM
sure they were huge for a bit in 1970 -- i loved that solo album tooo --
0x7EA Roffle 8:52:25 PM
They did a couple hits. They're on Google.
0x7EA Roffle 8:52:46 PM
lol
Tyler B. 8:53:05 PM
Sounded like NIN for a second there
Tyler B. 8:53:42 PM
Sup tim, great to catch you on air
0x7EA Roffle 8:53:42 PM
Jerry Garcia was a great twist in there.
Tim (host) 8:54:33 PM
yeah - he had a bunch of people on that album - butmaaan did csn make some stinker albums in the eighties-- yeeesh - know when to hang it up
Tim (host) 8:54:50 PM
Hey tyler
0x7EA Roffle 8:56:27 PM
So true. The Whale thing was cool, but that was sorta it for me.
Tim (host) 8:57:23 PM
same... they did one decent album in the ninties - but that was it - would have beenbetter to let it go in the sevinteis- but i guess if they back a truck full of money to your house ya go ahead and do it
0x7EA Roffle 8:58:43 PM
That is a tough one to wave off.
Chris Mohr 9:01:34 PM
The shoegaze-y vibe of this track and the one before is very fine, DJ Tim!
Tim (host) 9:02:11 PM
yeah im addicted to the gaze ... i mean these guys are stright up ripping of my bloody valantine .. but i love it
Tim (host) 9:02:23 PM
off
0x7EA Roffle 9:04:04 PM
The Japanese have somewhere on the order of a billion MBV covers out there. :)
0x7EA Roffle 9:05:13 PM
I'm not sure, so I'm low-balling.
Tim (host) 9:05:23 PM
yeah... but they are friggin good at it - and if mbv isnt going to make albums its a good fill in
Tim (host) 9:05:48 PM
it a bilon and one- just shy of the number of burgers mcd has sold
0x7EA Roffle 9:06:04 PM
I think it's adorable!
michael gudgeon 9:06:43 PM
gentleman broncos!?!
Chris Mohr 9:07:16 PM
Compare that to number of hoagies sold by Hoagie Haven...
Tim (host) 9:07:45 PM
@ chris its a complex tapestry of shoegaz ' burgers and hoagies'' - butall three are putting up huge numbers
sean burns 9:08:10 PM
I won this single anda wheel on the boardwalk and seaside when it came out
sean burns 9:08:48 PM
I must be mumbling I said I won the single at a wheel on the boardwalk in seaside when it came out d'oh
Tim (host) 9:08:53 PM
@ sean zagar and evans?
sean burns 9:09:08 PM
But of course
Tim (host) 9:10:32 PM
lucky you-- thats a pretty good boardwalk prize
sean burns 9:11:34 PM
Probably cost more than if I would have just waited and bought it at Woolworths
Tim (host) 9:15:27 PM
probably....
Tim (host) 9:15:40 PM
I started off getting my 45 s at kmart s
Chris Mohr 9:24:07 PM
I think I bought my 1st LP at Woolworth's in Somerville: Steve Miller's Greatest Hits -- though that title was premature, because it featured songs from his first 5 LPs, before he hit it big with The Joker!
Andy Wing 9:25:34 PM
Here's that shoegaze band: https://www.discogs.com/master/1607670-%E6%9D%B1%E4%BA%AC%E9%85%92%E5%90%90%E5%BA%A7-Tokyo-Shoegazer-Crystallize
Tim (host) 9:25:39 PM
Yeah he had a whole psychdelic thing going before he becsme msinstream - and was at the Montery pop festival
Tim (host) 9:26:30 PM
@ andy - wow .... thanks - ill adjust the playlist later -- you rule
Jim Otter 9:28:47 PM
That's a really excellent album cover. Speaks to a lot of my interests.
Rob from Maryland 🦀 9:29:15 PM
It's great to hear this Strawbs song!
Tim (host) 9:30:19 PM
yeah the strawbs had alot of good stuff -- grave new world was a big hit in my room - like # 5 in my room listening top 100 when i was younger
Jim Otter 9:31:56 PM
Agreed Rob, it started off almost Van der Graaf Generator-like with the dismal second-person lyrics
Tim (host) 9:34:37 PM
I have to check out van der graff - i know a few songs that were pretty good -- I really should try to find more newer prog --
Rob from Maryland 🦀 9:35:13 PM
The only Strawbs song I know at all is "Part Of The Union", so it's nice to hear other songs. And same with Nektar, I don't know them at all.
Tim (host) 9:35:46 PM
eyah i dont know prog all that well except for certain albumss
Rob from Maryland 🦀 9:36:04 PM
The Strawbs song transformed seamlessly into the Nektar song.
Tim (host) 9:36:20 PM
@ rob grave new world is worth checking out--- I think rick wakeman was in strwabs.. and maybe sandy denny for a bit
Tim (host) 9:36:47 PM
@ rob cool..thas always a good thing
Rob from Maryland 🦀 9:37:23 PM
They both were in Strawbs at one time or another. I will have to check out this album
Tim (host) 9:37:58 PM
jsut checekd rick wakeman was n strawbs-- 21 century is fun i can just find out .. instead of haning out in front of the 7-11 discussing wheather its true or not... or maybe that was more fun
Jim Otter 9:38:32 PM
I'm not a deep prog person myself, a friend recommended VdGG after I said the only prog I really enjoyed was King Crimson. "A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers" is a good 20+ minute introduction I guess
Tim (host) 9:39:12 PM
will check it out
0x7EA Roffle 9:39:44 PM
The other street kids taught me to say prog.
Jim Otter 9:40:05 PM
A 1972-strength tab from what I have heard, while out in the ocean, sounds like a terrifying ordeal
Rob from Maryland 🦀 9:40:21 PM
I read in the wiki for the band that Richard Hudson and John Ford were in The Strawbs at one point. They ended up as/in The Monks, the late 70s punk band that did "Bad Habits" and a few other songs I knew
Rob from Maryland 🦀 9:41:44 PM
@Jim, Diet Coke might have been better than Tab? Except it hadn't been invented in 1972
Rob from Maryland 🦀 9:42:27 PM
Popol Vuh, woo!!
Chris Mohr 9:43:34 PM
Indeed. Lizbot is smiling from afar, no doubt!
Tim (host) 9:43:54 PM
yup the do they trick ---
Tim (host) 9:44:15 PM
i first heard then listening to a dj on wprb dr cosmo years ago

And now, Renaissance!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 9:47:23 PM
@Jim, you nailed it!
0x7EA Roffle 9:52:55 PM
Renaissance just lurking around waiting to pounce with an epic chord.
Richard of Rocky Hill 10:02:24 PM
@ Tim (host) Thanks for the play of "The Flower and the Young Man." I realize The Strawbs are a neo-traditional band I must listen to more.
Tim (host) 10:03:39 PM
yeah they kinda have a folk prog deal going - i think there earlier albums were a little more folk
