Happy birthday to Sarah Vaughan who would have been 102 today.
Patrick White 12:13:22 PM
Rick at Scottish Rite Cathedral 150 north broad street. Promoter tried hard at this venue but would be tragically razed by 1980
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:14:05 PM
Patrick, what was it replaced with?
rick hallahan 12:14:34 PM
Such a shame, Patrick.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:15:39 PM
Hi Russ!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:17:50 PM

This is pretty dang good!
Christine 𓅊 𓃕 𓃹 12:20:56 PM
This really MOVES
Patrick White 12:21:14 PM
Jerry They indeed paved paradise and put up a parking lot. I believe there was a Town Hall facility near there also.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:21:42 PM
Is that where the famous Town Hall was?
Christine 𓅊 𓃕 𓃹 12:22:08 PM
...paved paradise, put up parking lot, and added a Wawa and a Rita's Water Ice. 😐
Patrick White 12:22:30 PM
Bob Dylan played Town Hall and our man TOWE used to air Philadelphia Orchestra concerts from that facility. INDEED!!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:22:39 PM
Christine, we have some jump and move tracks coming up for you in 15 minutes
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:24:02 PM

Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:48:40 PM
Interesting PW
Patrick White 12:49:43 PM
Haven’t heard much from CLEF CLUB either

Cecile Mclorin Salvant j ust slays it on this song, you are so right.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:51:57 PM
rick, the track after this will feature Veronica Swift in a surprising musical environment.
Patrick White 12:52:25 PM
Anxiously awaiting my free and near free concerts outdoors lineups. Unfortunately my Upper Merion parks concerts have been infested by XPN olios. Like Frank Costanza I. WILL NOT TOLERATE INFESTATION !!
rick hallahan 12:52:58 PM
Veronica Swift rules! Because I love her singing, maybe that makes me a Swiftie??????????????
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:54:25 PM
Definitely! I hope we hear a baritone in hear somewhere
Russell Woessner 12:54:48 PM

Patrick White 12:58:54 PM

Richardson Auditorium in Princeton is a special place. The upcoming Princeton Jazz Festival next month will be in Richardson. Taplin Auditorium in Fine Hall where tomorrow's concert will be is also very nice.
Christine 𓅊 𓃕 𓃹 1:17:30 PM
Did anyone see Alarm Will Sound in Princeton last Tuesday 3/17? That concert was at Richardson Auditorium and was also 🆓️.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:22:15 PM
Christine, you have been to plenty of shows in your day at Princeton, a special homey place for you!
Patrick White 1:22:37 PM
Christine do you know Fine Hall was named after virtuoso violinist and former Philadelphia born stooge Larry Fine.
Christine 𓅊 𓃕 𓃹 1:24:39 PM
@Patrick, lol
Christine 𓅊 𓃕 𓃹 1:25:59 PM
I'm pretty sure that's not the case. But I do know that Larry Fine graduated from Central High School. 🎓
Russell Woessner 1:27:42 PM

A surfiet of Cuckoo acolytes. Hi gang.
Lester Wiggs 1:32:08 PM
I'm just glad they didn't tear down the MET, although I have never actually been inside.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:33:22 PM
I just played one of my favorites, Clovis Nicholas!
Lester Wiggs 1:35:11 PM
That soft machine track was pretty cool. I think I had 'third' on vinyl, but never really listened to it for some reason.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:35:30 PM
Third was the biggie!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:35:46 PM
You knew which one to own
Russell Woessner 1:36:18 PM
Pianist Geoffrey Keezer and vocalist Gillian Margot perform in a sold-out concert in Hopewell, NJ on Sunday: https://www.jazznightsprinceton.com/. There is a waitlist.
Lester Wiggs 1:36:47 PM
I am down with all things Clovis.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:37:22 PM
Ha!
Lester Wiggs 1:37:56 PM
Anyway I just checked in since you said the magic date, April 15 I think I have been sitting here a week fumbling with spreadsheets on the laptop.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:38:38 PM
I hate it. It's paralyzing
Lester Wiggs 1:42:13 PM
downloaded the banking info to a spreadshhet, but none of the formulas would work. Took two hours to figure out it was because they loaded as 'text' rather than numbers. My AI master told me how to fix it though. So theres that.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:44:03 PM
I've been having some issues with my computer, try to fix it with Open AI, and it has made lots of dangerous mistakes
Lester Wiggs 1:45:27 PM
Its very funny. I had a random carpentry problem I was working on, I wanted some raised boxes for the garden, and use a dovetail joint. I got a bout a dozen non sense answers from the AI (grok) before I gave up.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:46:05 PM
Hallucinations, they call them
rick hallahan 1:47:15 PM
Excellent vocal - swinging big band - great tune. I am diggin' it!!!
Lester Wiggs 1:47:20 PM
Next time you're on- askit for a random number between 1 and 10. It will say 7. Because- it only sees what people on reddit think a random number should be. lol.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:48:03 PM
Rick, Kurt Elling is a Schwinger. And you like this band, the WDR Big Band
rick hallahan 1:48:43 PM
Jerry, the WDR Big Band is world class!
Lester Wiggs 1:51:10 PM
There is a quality jazz vocalists have that is so unique to the genre. For some reason this is making me think of Eddie Jefferson.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:54:22 PM
Vocalese!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:54:45 PM
Rick, WDR, they ARE exceptional!
rick hallahan 1:55:11 PM
Yes, indeedy!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:56:02 PM
Love it!
Patrick White 1:57:05 PM
Wasn’t aware how old McCarter Theatre is. 86 years ago Paul Robeson was playing to sellout audiences performing The Emperor Jones. A hero of John Weingart
Lester Wiggs 1:59:05 PM
I think I saw Amal and the Night Visitors performed there. Many years ago.
Patrick White 1:59:06 PM
Also started Uta Hagen and Jose Ferer . Stellar cast
Lester Wiggs 1:59:39 PM
Robeson was an absolutely remarkable individual.
Brian D 2:02:34 PM
Baba Ram Raisin
Lester Wiggs 2:05:01 PM
all the great bassist start out as guitarists. No surprise there at all. I won't be so tedious as to list them.
rick hallahan 2:08:03 PM
I'm currently reading the authorized biography of the Bangles. In the book, the Bangles bass player, Micki Steele, relates how she approached Carol Kaye for advice and pointers on how to improve her craft. She said that Carol Kaye provided excellent direction that was most helpful to Micki.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:08:45 PM
Hi Brian D< thanks for clarifying the pronounciation
Brian D 2:12:52 PM
Huh? That was just a joke... forget if it was Mad Magazine or Natl Lampoon something like that
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:13:08 PM
I liked it!
Patrick White 2:17:36 PM
For some reason she hated her portrayal on Marvelous Mrs Maisel.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:18:03 PM
There's been mishigoss
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:19:05 PM
LOTS of arguing whether she provided the bass to a bunch of motown hits including "I Was Made to Love Her"
John Ceneviva 2:22:50 PM
Jerry's DiscWasher is getting a workout today.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:23:16 PM

Patrick White 2:29:41 PM
I usually hit the MUTE button when you’re speaking.
rick hallahan 2:30:23 PM
Patrick, you are a hoot!
Russell Woessner 2:30:48 PM
Both speakers
Patrick White 2:34:29 PM
Shout and farewell to the great Mike McGrath of You Bet your Garden. Retiring from Lehigh Valley NPR radio. Was unceremoniously dumped by the greenheads at WHYY $$ but moved to the WDIY and established a foothold . Interesting unique local programming
John Ceneviva 2:34:49 PM
Oy. This is weird. On the radio, you're mostly right but a little left. Streaming online you're left only.
Russell Woessner 2:35:35 PM
Both speakers online for me
Lester Wiggs 2:36:40 PM
Mike McGrath. One of the all time greats. Very distinctive voice.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:36:52 PM
This IS a giant Oy. I will have to find out why. Thanks Russ and John
Lester Wiggs 2:38:11 PM
I would like to be helpful hear, but am partially def on the right side. The brain does give compensation though.
Patrick White 2:39:35 PM
Everyone have a great weekend.
Lester Wiggs 2:40:11 PM
My mother was Sooo sorry she bought us that record.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:40:36 PM
Mike McGrath, fabulous person, wrote for the Drummer initially, I believe?
John Ceneviva 2:41:38 PM
#BAM! BANG. SOCK. I can see that cartoon like it was yesterday
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:42:09 PM
