My dearly departed sister was a Nova diehard. Of course, my not-so-great memory of Nova basketball was when they kicked previously undefeated Penn's butt 90-47 in the NCAA tournament in Raleigh, NC. That was a helluva long ride home to Philly for me.

Jerry Jay Wright would come to our high school games in Jersey City to recruit players. He signed a big time star in December. 5 months later the principal Sister Alice passed away. Didn’t need anything from the school anymore. But he the first one to come and sign the book at the viewing.

Jerry I believe they moved the university because they didn’t want them near that third street Jazz Store. Lot of bad influences and that crazy Jazz music.

The back story of the Penn-Nova debacle was that the Nova pep band walked all the way to West Philly to serenade the Penn dorms with the Villanova fight song. I couldn't believe my eyes and my ears!

Well Rick I think Penn got to taunt them back when the NCAA deleted all history of that team due to agent violations

We had a great Jewish bakery on Castor Avenue. Now it is a smoke shop/weed/ fentanyl store open 25 hours a day. I love progress .
