Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:10:29 PM
Hello everyone
Carlos Ramone 5:10:40 PM
Hola Van, como estas?
donutage 5:10:54 PM
Whew, I made it!
Richard Mitnick 5:11:40 PM
You know, Jon, you have been here forever, so you are a good person to tell my story. I was very involved in WPRB some years ago when we enjoyed Will Constantine Jr and a Jazz program on Sunday morning to go along with Dan Buskirk and Jerry Gordon. Then I left for quite a while and was involved with John Schaefer's "New Sounds" at what was WNYC2 and is now a full website standing on its own at New York Public Radio.
Lester Wiggs 5:11:41 PM
hai rob. Was visited by the crows.
donutage 5:11:42 PM
Good evening, radio friends.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:11:49 PM
Alex, Lester, Van K, Rob, Carlos, Donutage, even Pat!
Dale Hazelton 5:12:33 PM
hey now. 2025, the year that sucked. but not musically.
Lester Wiggs 5:12:39 PM
Well richared, thats cool. What else is going on over there
donutage 5:12:58 PM
@dale - 100%
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:13:37 PM
Dale, that feels right.
Patrick Rapa 5:13:40 PM
hey t-shirt leave those kids alone
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:14:01 PM
@Lester, it wasn't the ravens, or the Ravens?
Lester Wiggs 5:14:37 PM
lol Rob. We got steel union folks.
Richard Mitnick 5:14:42 PM
I was also involved with Stephen Hills "Music From the Hearts of Space from San Fransisco which was on Public Radio but is now a web based subscription service. I highly recommend both "New Sounds", now NYPR's WQXR; and "Hearts of Space" to which I have a paid subscription.
donutage 5:15:19 PM
Jon - I *just* received my 2025 Marathon teeshirt (late due to mail & travel synch failure)
Van Kapeghian 5:15:19 PM
Carlos, estoy bien, eso era todo mi español, haha
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:16:03 PM
My wife's family was a big WQXR household. I donated many reels of opera recordings from their airwaves to their engineer several years ago.
Lester Wiggs 5:16:23 PM
Richard will tell all. Just tickle his feet. I know you know And I know too.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:16:35 PM
Wear it in good health, Donutage.
Carlos Ramone 5:16:36 PM
Una cerveza fria y Una mujer caliente, por favor
Van Kapeghian 5:17:02 PM
Perfect!
Richard Mitnick 5:17:03 PM
But, now I have been back to WPRB for a few months and am very happy to be hear, although I could do without some of the music aired which reminds me of John Zorn's "Noise" genre. I will be here and a financial contributor for some time to come.
donutage 5:17:11 PM
Absolutely will, Jon!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 5:17:26 PM
Lester, good. (But what are steel union folks? Pittsburgh? I don't follow sports at all)
Patrick Rapa 5:17:35 PM
for a second I was like — is Richard Mitnick that legendary super hacker?
Richard Mitnick 5:17:51 PM
Ugh, time to go back to work on my blog.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:18:09 PM
Richard, to me the beauty of WPRB is the fact that if you don't like the song that's playing right now you might love the one that follows it.
Lester Wiggs 5:18:28 PM
Ah- Zorn. You right. Problem, Answer, Solution.
Alex Crowe 5:18:49 PM
Is there a Floyd theme going on here cause this has the slide and vocal oozes Dave Gilmour.
Dale Hazelton 5:19:29 PM
digging this. if jim morrison joined crazy horse.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:19:33 PM
No theme, save for "Best of 2025."
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:19:59 PM
Will Johnson fronting Magnolia Electric Company on a Jason Molina tune (that references other Molina songs in the process).
Patrick Rapa 5:20:03 PM
"Hearts of Space" sounds like a good show for listening to while gettin work done
Lester Wiggs 5:21:12 PM
We Shall Overcome. And then in an unexpected turn of fate. .....
Van Kapeghian 5:22:07 PM
This has an early Widespread Panic feel in a way, too
Lester Wiggs 5:22:13 PM
I was a human radio station.
Dale Hazelton 5:23:10 PM
that song alone was worth my monthly tithe.
Patrick Rapa 5:24:36 PM
I am trying really hard to get past the "my band is huge in Wildwood" vibes of the name Bitchin Bajas
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:25:22 PM
We're currently at a 79% probability of >12" snow in Central NJ this weekend.
Patrick Rapa 5:25:43 PM
jon get out of there
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:26:28 PM
I went to Costco today to only by two items. I fear no storm.
Patrick Rapa 5:28:11 PM
i assume every storm is the Coming Global Superstorm
Roffle 0x7EA 5:29:15 PM
Should be interesting after no serious snow in years that sticks around for weeks. Another generation of drivers is out there. Heads up. lol
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:29:32 PM
Pat, I assume every storm is the Geostorm.
Patrick Rapa 5:29:55 PM
Always room for Geostorm!
Alex Crowe 5:29:57 PM
I for one am energized by snow.
Richard Mitnick 5:29:58 PM
The "super hacker" was Kevin Mitnick, jailed and not allowed near a computer for years, ultimately freed due to some great work of two people from WBAI's "Off the Hook" radio program. Kevin never stole even a nickel, just illegally utilized AT&T manuals he actually found in a garbage bin. He is no longer alive but was a very distant relative.
Patrick Rapa 5:31:16 PM
Wow. Very interesting. And I'm glad I didn't rub the wrong way with the reference.
Richard Mitnick 5:31:31 PM
I have a framed photo of Kevin hanging on the wall at my home. He was caught by great triangulation work of a Japanese computer genius.
Lester Wiggs 5:31:49 PM
wut mitnick
Richard Lyons 5:32:52 PM
howdy peeps!
Richard Mitnick 5:32:53 PM
No offense taken, Patrick.
Patrick Rapa 5:33:00 PM
wow! I read a book of his once. His phone freaking was ahead of his time
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:33:17 PM
Hello Richard L!
Richard Lyons 5:33:58 PM
hi Jon! I really enjoyed having McSweeden back on the air!
Patrick Rapa 5:34:36 PM
seconded. Def good stuff on that McSweden show
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:34:52 PM
That was a genuine surprise. Know he's a globetrotter but I hope he'll stop in from time to time.
Carlos Ramone 5:36:12 PM
A DJ and plays hoops too? Multi tasker
Lester Wiggs 5:36:31 PM
ah Kevin Mitnick. Smart people those Mitnicks..
Randy Marthins 5:47:14 PM

Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:51:04 PM
Get to the gig!
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:51:28 PM
It is a touch lunky at times but overall a very worthwhile watch that follows a familiar arc.
Carlos Ramone 5:51:28 PM
This set break has been better than a concert calendar…I have 2 library cards and a Kanopy account
Randy Marthins 5:52:31 PM
Apparently, we got significant snow on this date in 2014, as I posted someplace "How many time have I been that idiot on TV Evening News riding his bike around Center City in a blizzard?"
Randy Marthins 5:53:02 PM
the answer is 5
Alex Crowe 5:54:10 PM
2025 was good year for the post punk family of genres
Randy Marthins 5:54:16 PM
I TOO have a library card - I wonder if our library supports Kanopy (or vice versa)
oldmotorbikeguy 5:54:22 PM
hi jon, have a nice remaining 2 hours.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:54:29 PM
Thanks, OMBG!
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:55:20 PM
Alex, next time I go running I'm listening to that Dragnet LP while I do.
Randy Marthins 5:56:12 PM
@jon - You said the "R" word!!!
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 5:56:52 PM
Randy, did I tell you I hit my running time goal for 2025 on December 1st?
Randy Marthins 5:58:42 PM
NICE!!! and how much did you exceed it by at months end? Because that's what happens next
Randy Marthins 6:00:20 PM
We have a term in my house called "randy-ing it" like when you plan to run 5K, but run 5 miles instead ... just because
GW Carbo 6:01:09 PM
Snow removal strategy for upcoming storm…once at 4pm Sunday, then again Monday morning!
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:01:37 PM
I beat my goal by 35 seconds, only focused on maintenance after. I did go running the morning after I was on the radio for 29 straight hours!
Randy Marthins 6:03:10 PM
Oops! I missed the word "time" - I thought we're talking mileage --- goal time is even more impressive !!! Proud of you
Randy Marthins 6:03:37 PM
You - my friend - are a stud
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:03:40 PM
Thank you, sir. I did a six week training app that had me running 200s and 400s up and down my block like a lunatic. But...it worked.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:04:24 PM
GW, I suspect (and I am no expert) that the snow is going to roll in later than that.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:04:30 PM
On Sunday that is.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:04:50 PM
Though the basketball game I have tickets for has been moved up from 2 to noon (likely so the visitors can drive home safely).
Randy Marthins 6:05:09 PM
My block is EXACTLY 1/4 mile, and has a slight tilt to the South, so it's a track workout + hill repeats
GW Carbo 6:05:46 PM
Ok Jon, got my headlamp charged n ready!
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:06:13 PM
Good work, GW. I will try and get firewood moved inside tomorrow.
Randy Marthins 6:06:47 PM
I remember this water damage track (or one similar?)
Dale Hazelton 6:06:48 PM
really like these bass-heavy pieces that drone on and on.
Randy Marthins 6:07:20 PM
I was on the TM for this once before
GW Carbo 6:07:37 PM
9 cords back in the day at my dads place in NH Jon! NINE!
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:07:53 PM
This is I think my favorite of their many 2025 releases (a double LP, this live record and many digital recordings).
Alex Crowe 6:13:18 PM
This is why I am listening to your show right here.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:14:48 PM
GW = 9 cords.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 6:14:56 PM
Water Damage = fewer chords.

Pat G. 6:22:11 PM
I’m ok with it
Pat G. 6:23:04 PM
Didn’t realize you meant me Pat. Aww schucks.

Alex Crowe 6:38:13 PM

Pat G. 6:38:15 PM
Saw them at Century Bar two years ago (I think). Guess how many songs they played?
Randy Marthins 6:38:21 PM
@roffle - but does it fade, or does it just STOP?
Roffle 0x7EA 6:38:41 PM

Lester Wiggs 7:04:04 PM
And I don't want to say this no more. I m human radio station. I m the microphone, I am the transmitter, I am the torroidial suspect, I wait in a 3 inch concrete garage roll up door. I am- a human cost of borrowing paper amde debt cycle.
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 7:04:54 PM
Doesn't quite have the same ring to it...
Lester Wiggs 7:05:42 PM
Toroidal leakage refers to the magnetic flux that escapes from the core of a toroidal transformer, though it is generally much lower than in other transformer types like EI cores
Lester Wiggs 7:07:55 PM
Having noted the torroidial consequences of false narritives, Are there native greenland songs whose sung those songs, of overcomement?
Lester Wiggs 7:08:27 PM
We calm the traffic here.
donutage 7:08:56 PM
Alas, dinner is calling me. I will have to catch up on the last leg of the show later. Good night, gentlefolk, & good luck in the impemding Snowpocalypse.
donutage 7:09:37 PM
OOoh, I'll stick around the Wet Leg!
Jon Solomon 🐧 (host) 7:09:41 PM

Lester Wiggs 7:15:48 PM
I am a more of a pre- production gal.
Lester Wiggs 7:16:12 PM
But anyone named Randy has got my vote Votre
Randy Marthins 7:16:27 PM
NICU is a Phish song
Lester Wiggs 7:16:52 PM
Where is Andy Elk when we need him most?
Lester Wiggs 7:19:11 PM
She has my sympathy. What was the famous Pathology? hold on
Lester Wiggs 7:20:21 PM
The full name was originally Pathé Frères (Pathé Brothers), founded in 1896 by the Pathé brothers (Charles, Émile, Théophile, and Jacques). "Pathé" essentially incorporates "path" (or "pathé," from the family name) right into the core branding.
Randy Marthins 7:24:34 PM
The are a lot of "how it's made" videos on YouTube from Britain done in the 50s & 60s labeled "pathé" - I also remember seeing "color by Pathé" in end credits of movies & tv shows
Lester Wiggs 7:25:34 PM
Dorme' vos? Somme la matina' etc.
Lester Wiggs 7:26:15 PM

I worked with an insurance adjuster many years ago. the client was a lovely French lady. I jokingly said to the adjuster, channeling Steve Martin, you know the French have a different word for everything. He replied- I have different word for her.
sorry it's andrew 7:39:17 PM

There are two real standout cuts. One, you just heard!
Lester Wiggs 7:47:18 PM
To express being present in the past, use the imperfect tense: J’étais là (I was there) Nous étions là (We were there)
Lester Wiggs 7:48:15 PM
Now, I will be present in the future? I exit the tardis. Music plays.
Rob from Maryland 🦀 7:50:15 PM

Alfred Ruel 7:51:09 PM
First that water damage and now this yoo doo right and population 2 and Nolan … is that like can meets randy Holden!? Sounds punishing. Thanks for the ear openers! Pissed I snoozed on that live water damage… they had an ep that disappeared too… hmm, maybe I can still get the live one…they played 2 summers ago in Philly and I failed… had a bad conflict. Hope to have another chance
