Liked hearing that one again w.the cello etc. Sankofa by Cosmic Tones Research Trio. Heard a great version of Sunshower (Kenny Barron piece) done up nicely by Ron Carter the other day. Ron on the bowed piccolo bass sounding like a cello. Gave his LP the title "Piccolo". Good stuff.

I'll have to listen to that. It may have been a 2 record set. That track, of course, is classic.

There's a couple younger DJs that are great on the station, but there's always things that aren't quite right. I wish they would spend more time listening to some of the more veteran DJs like yourself Jerry. I offered that as advice, unappreciated I might add, on one person show. I just want the station to be as good as it could be. Sometimes what I say are reflections of comments others have said when I try to turn them onto the station.

Jerry The guy name was Neil He became Jackal and fronted YDI . They had a single called Rizzos coming Back and their album was called A Place in the Sun with Mussolini on the cover. They were fairly popular

Yeah Jerry, I see your point but I don't know it just seems like some of the younger DJs go with sort of a template that the other younger DJs do. Like handles instead of actual names. Or announcing everything they're going to play on the show before the show even unfolds. I'll just screams amateur and they'd be simple problems to fix. Just my two cents it wasn't asked for, but I'm always happy to pay those two cents. I only say anything at all because I care.

G Jax, "voice to text" is maybe the worst, non-functioning, non-improving invention of the past decades. Typing out the words is so much better and always will be - or even easier "swipe type" out the words (a feature where you drag your fingers across a mobile keyboard and trace out words - much better and easier).

.Bob Weir seemed like a genuinely good dude. At least to me he did. I can't say that for most other celebs when I get a look into their lives away from the spotlight. I'm largely going by the 'The Other One' documentary but even in interviews and whatnot he just comes across as a good guy.

5/22/77 from FL a great one yep. From a great tour in Spring 77. That tour has so many highlights. That 7/8/78 set and the bigger July 1978 Complete set has some great sound on it. No doubt due to the famous "Betty Boards" tapes used.

right around the insane 5/8/77 Barton Hall show. Fertile GD period.

Great overlooked Philly Spectrum show from that tour at the end of April too. 4/22/77. First time the east coast got to hear the Scarlet Begonias / Fire on the Mt pairing. (They heard Scarlet alone before). That show has some fiery stuff. Not as well known as the famous May shows to come later. All in all a great tour.

I think I was at that spectrum show. Only time I saw them. Crap seats behind the stage. They apparently played the spectum 50 plus times.

Dave Lemieux has been releasing a lot of the missing 77 shows. I have been subscribed to Dave's Picks since 2013 lol.

Poet laureate Lester Wiggs, the best!

I used to get the Dick's Picks cd sets in the 90s yep. Very nicely priced. Very no frills, just CDs, box and one sheet insert. Let the music do the talkin. Sometimes a 3 or 4 CD set was priced under 20 bucks. I would pre order them via mail order right away as soon as I heard about them.

Dick Latvala gone way too soon. Had a great ear and a great job. Dave L doing well too in his place.

I did see the RCO All Stars open for Jerry's Cats Under the Stars show

Elm Street red light district in the ol Deep Ellum (diff way of sayin Elm) section of Dallas. Wow Levon's mando is way up in the mix. Love it

The video is pure joy. Levon has a s*&t-eating grin throughout the entire video. Every second. The song is pure Americana, I get turned on by this song depicts something that will never change, and everybody's having a good time.

Bobby had a helluva left hand on the frets. Some great chord voicings. Learned a bunch from him and gtr teachers. Helluva right hand too. Pick, back of fingers, front of palm etc. Had a great touch for the rhythm.

Probably $4.99 or so for the older lps. I think I bought Hunky Dory, Diamond Dogs and Heroes all in one stop. Friend got me into him at the time. Let's Dance just came out or was just about to. Great time for Bowie mania all over again.
