Sangita Kalanidhi Bombay Jayashri Ramnath (born 1965) is a leading Carnatic vocalist, film playback singer, teacher, veena player, dancer and Hindustani musician. She was initially trained under her parents, then under Smt. T.R. Balamani and finally spent several years being taught by the violin maestro Lalgudi G. Jayaraman. Jayashri is known for her melodic and meditative style of singing and has been honored with the civilian honor “Padma Shri” from the Indian government.

Acknowledged as one of the great twentieth century masters of the Sarod, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan (born 1945) learnt music from his father Haafiz Ali Khan and gave his first recital at the age of six. He is an international performer and has won numerous accolades including Padma Vibhushan and several honorary doctorates.

Amaan Ali Bangash, the eldest son of Amjad Ali Khan was initiated into music by his father and gave his first public performance at the age of eight. Today he is an internationally acclaimed Sarod player performing alongside his father and his brother, Ayaan Ali Khan. He is also a Hollywood film composer and has collaborated with international music stars such as Gwen Stefani, Jon Bon Jovi, Joe Walsh etc.

Eminent Carnatic vocalist, veena player, musicologist and percussionist, Sangita Kalanidhi Neyveli R. Santhanagopalan (born 1963) had his early training under his mother Jayalakshmi Ammal. He later became the disciple of Sangita Kalanidhi T.N. Seshagopalan. Well respected for his expertise in raga Alapana and niraval singing, Santhanagopalan also served as a judge for the hit TV talent show Carnatic Idol.

Sriranjani Santhanagopalan (born 1988) is a popular Carnatic vocalist and daughter of the eminent musician Sangita Kalanidhi Neyveli Santhanagopalan. She grew up steeped in music at home and had advanced training starting at the age of 17 from her father. She has won several awards including Best and Outstanding Vocalist prize for several years running from The Madras Music Academy.

Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia (born 1938) is the foremost exponent of Hindustani music on the bamboo flute (bansuri). Chaurasia is widely credited with making the bansuri a concert stage instrument. The various awards conferred on this master include "Padma Vibhushan", the second highest civilian honor in India and the prestigious Sangeet Natak Academy Fellowship.

Sangita Kalanidhi Madurai T. N. Seshagopalan (born 1948) is a top-ranking Carnatic vocalist, Vainika, Harmonium player, Harikatha exponent and composer. He had his early music training under his mother and was further trained by Ramanathapuram Sankara Sivam, a disciple of the legendary Harikesanallur Muthiah Bhagavathar. Recipient of numerous awards and known for his genius Manodharma, TNS has been star concert performer in Carnatic music over several decades.

Carnatic vocalist Madurai T N S Krishna was born in 1981 as the son of the celebrated Carnatic vocalist Madurai T N Seshagopalan. Krishna has been described by critics and listeners alike as having fully imbibed his father's style. He often performs his father's compositions on the concert stage. Krishna just won the Senior Best Vocalist Prize by the Madras Music Academy during the 2025 December Music Season.

Hindustani vocalist Ajoy Chakraborty (born 1952) had early musical training from his father Ajit Chakraborty and later under teachers like Kanaidas Bairagi, Pandit Jnan Prakash Ghosh and Munawar Ali Khan. He became the youngest recipient of the Gold Medal from the Sangeet Research Academy where he currently teaches. He has a wide repertoire in various forms including Khayal, Thumri, Film/Non-Film and modern songs. He has been awarded the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian honor.

Kaushiki Chakraborty (born 1980) is the daughter of the celebrated Hindustani vocalist Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty. She sings Khayals, Dadras, Thumris etc. and is an exponent of the Patiala Gharana. She has formed an exclusive women's musical group called the "Sakhi" (meaning, friend) which is a forerunner in classical music in India to "celebrate womanhood" and as a dedication to the famous mythological and historical woman of India. She received the BBC Award for Outstanding Achievement in Music in 2005 when she was just 25 years old.

Rishith Desikan is the teenage son and disciple of Kaushiki Chakraborty. He has started to perform on stage with his mother recently.

The Indian bamboo flute playing now has two varieties. The longer, lower pitch instrument is generally chosen by Hindustani musicians while Carnatic flutists prefer to play on the shorter, higher pitched instrument.
