Great to hear you!
Richard Mitnick 3:08:20 PM
I have been clicked in all day. Happy to have you in my digiteria. I hope you have a great show.
Stitching Pink (host) 3:08:49 PM
Thank you both for. checking in. Happy to have you here!
Alex Pina 3:13:25 PM
I'm determined to knit a pair of socks this year. Casted on and have been enjoying it so far. Wish me luck in the heel turn :)
Stitching Pink (host) 3:14:27 PM
You can do it!
Stitching Pink (host) 3:15:15 PM
My advice for turning a heel: take your time. do exactly what it says and question nothing. haha
Alex Pina 3:15:44 PM
Thank you!
Lester Wiggs 3:18:59 PM
Is this the same tune as recorded by Mingus as 'Strollin'. I guess its a famous blues. Love it
Stitching Pink (host) 3:19:43 PM
Good question. I don't know
Lester Wiggs 3:20:20 PM
I was looking at one of those sock knitting machines, old style. Way above my pay grade, but I was Sooo unhappy with my socks I thought I could knit my own. lol.
Stitching Pink (host) 3:21:10 PM
sock knitting machines, especially the older ones, are magical
Henry Reifsnyder 3:22:02 PM
Love your show! Im a big fan!
Stitching Pink (host) 3:22:34 PM
thanks for the love! glad you are here!
Henry Reifsnyder 3:24:19 PM
enchante
Lester Wiggs 3:26:59 PM
Crazy mechanical contraption. And then you have to make it go retrograde to stitch the heel.
Lester Wiggs 3:30:49 PM
Looked into the Mingus v Christy. Kinda nuts. Mingus also recorded 'A Stranger Called the Blues', in 1954. But Christy's was penned by Mel Torme' and Robert Wells, not a name I know.
Alex Pina 3:31:59 PM
You've totally understand where I'm at. It seems that everything I read is to trust the pattern.
Lester Wiggs 3:32:35 PM
My mother had this sort of sewing tool that was sort of a light bulb shape, it was for 'darning' sock, I believe. A lost art.
Alex Pina 3:32:40 PM
Also loving the tunes!
Alex Pina 3:33:47 PM
Oh @Lester yes I've seen the darning egg. I think darning is making a come back with visible mending
Stitching Pink (host) 3:35:11 PM
I AM OBSESSED WITH DARNING EGGS
Lester Wiggs 3:36:26 PM
I'm going to have to ask her if she still has it. 90 lives independently in the house my father bought in 1960! We're going to the Orchestra on Saturday.
Stitching Pink (host) 3:36:59 PM
that is amazing
Lester Wiggs 3:37:33 PM
yeah, luck of the draw. So lucky.
Lester Wiggs 3:38:14 PM
Phila Orch is playing Julius Eastman. Pretty cool.
Stitching Pink (host) 3:38:34 PM
indeed
TAndy 3:39:45 PM
Ella & Louis 💙💙💙💙
Lester Wiggs 3:43:14 PM
At a certain point in time it was so cool to patch up your old blue jeans. I did it a few times myself. Probably in elementary school I was taught the 'blanket stitch'. You push the needle through the two pieces of clothe, then bring it back around through the loop.
Stitching Pink (host) 3:43:42 PM
it is very very trendy now to repair one's jeans
Lester Wiggs 3:44:07 PM
ahead of the curve as usual.
Stitching Pink (host) 3:44:13 PM
:)
Alex Pina 3:44:25 PM
I love that! I have a pair I've been meaning to add patches too
Lester Wiggs 3:44:53 PM
Nice. Of course I can't help but think of Dusty
Stitching Pink (host) 3:45:44 PM
oh yes
Lester Wiggs 3:47:23 PM
Probably my Scots background, but I can't bear the thought of wasting things that are still useful. This line of thought does get me into trouble sometimes too.
Stitching Pink (host) 3:48:31 PM
same. same
Amy Lee 3:53:23 PM
We have many pillows/cushions around the house filled with lots of useful-tbd--in-what-way bits of fabric/clothes.
Lester Wiggs 4:01:29 PM
OTOH, take all the scrap material and weave it into a rug. Like a circular braid in rag rug.
Stitching Pink (host) 4:03:02 PM
that is a great idea! A friend of mine had a grandmother who did that with old worn sheets
Stitching Pink (host) 4:03:12 PM
No scrap left behind!
Lester Wiggs 4:03:16 PM
@Amy- reminds me of an old NY'r comic. Laying around the house on giant pillows, caption reads, You can't call us rich, but we are comfortable. lol
Lester Wiggs 4:05:56 PM
Old worn sheets? Man I love that. Its exactly how I escaped from Alcatraz.
Stitching Pink (host) 4:06:08 PM
haha
Lester Wiggs 4:06:38 PM
Or Bedlam. Its been a while.
Lester Wiggs 4:07:06 PM
Bedlam. the Spirit is within.
Stitching Pink (host) 4:10:47 PM
oh goodness. i hope not Bedlam!
Amy Lee 4:10:55 PM
@Lester - thats where the hopelessly unsalvageable/stained fabric gets used!
Stitching Pink (host) 4:11:05 PM
Although aren't we all in Bedlam now...
Beth O'Brien 4:14:36 PM
So glad to be catching your show!
Stitching Pink (host) 4:15:24 PM
Wonderful. Glad you are here!
Lester Wiggs 4:16:15 PM
Stitches get Niches.
Lester Wiggs 4:17:51 PM
Niches- Over time, the term evolved to describe a specific role or position that is particularly suitable for a person or thing, especially due to its specificity and distinctiveness.
Stitching Pink (host) 4:18:14 PM
fascinating
MF Doomker 4:19:09 PM
Nice set!
Stitching Pink (host) 4:19:29 PM
thank you for listening!
Lester Wiggs 4:19:31 PM
I should probably see myself out here. Anyway great show Pink.
Dá Bəng Gôu 4:20:18 PM
..yes nice set of musics.. thank you.
Stitching Pink (host) 4:20:34 PM
Glad you were here Lester!
Lester Wiggs 4:21:14 PM
If I do Dry February, no one will know.
Carlos Ramone 4:23:13 PM
@Lester..dry February might be easier..shorter month
Stitching Pink (host) 4:23:46 PM
indeed.
Lester Wiggs 4:25:27 PM
Tru Csrlos. Tru
Carlos Ramone 4:28:58 PM
Gesundtight or Salud..whichever works
Lester Wiggs 4:36:49 PM
I have a quilting story. My GG grandfather placed on a a needle on the bed, trying to murder his domineering wife. In an unfortunate reversal of fortunes, he sat on the needle himself, and died from lockjaw. Or so the story goes. OK I will take imaginative license.
Stitching Pink (host) 4:37:50 PM
are you serious??
Stitching Pink (host) 4:38:05 PM
bc that is kind of crazy
Lester Wiggs 4:38:49 PM
Take every story you know, turn it up side down, then run it through the computational perceptive machine.
Carlos Ramone 4:39:19 PM
Fred Flintstone sat on knitting needles, that is how he found out Wilma was preggers with Pebbles
Carlos Ramone 4:39:29 PM
She was knitting booties
Lester Wiggs 4:39:36 PM
Its s family story. I made up a lot of it. But the foundational story was he sat on a pin left after the quilting meet.
Stitching Pink (host) 4:40:26 PM
my husband sits on pins all of the time. He then places them in random places for me to find. Like onions and soap
Stitching Pink (host) 4:40:35 PM
He thinks it is hilarious
Stitching Pink (host) 4:40:46 PM
but wait to he die of lockjaw?
Lester Wiggs 4:40:49 PM
I have the quilt. Might not stand up in a court of Sewing.
Lester Wiggs 4:41:29 PM
Rut Ro. True love has never been so fraught.
Stitching Pink (host) 4:42:11 PM
quilt police are a thing
Lester Wiggs 4:42:34 PM
Please we have no pins in the garlic?
Stitching Pink (host) 4:43:28 PM
pins have been known to be placed in the garlic
Lester Wiggs 4:44:06 PM
You got me sitting on pins and needles.
Stitching Pink (host) 4:45:01 PM
lol
Carlos Ramone 4:45:12 PM
@Lester. Every once in a while Ramones would play Needles and pins..whole place would pogo!!

Lester Wiggs 4:51:22 PM

MF Doomker 4:54:22 PM
Great show. 👏🏼
Alex Pina 4:54:30 PM
Thank you! Hopefully no pins in your garlic this week.
Kristin Belz 4:54:50 PM
fun to be reminded of sashiko -- which i've meant to try but haven't yet. and visible mending. i have a giant pile of sweaters it's time (winter) to get to mending, visibly and invisibly!
Lester Wiggs 4:55:59 PM
Stitch, I had a friend who was a little versed in Chinese thought. The idea was to 'extend Qi' energy. Sure cool But walks oftly and carry a small voice.
Amy Lee 4:56:46 PM
Thx for the great show!
Stitching Pink (host) 4:57:03 PM
Thanks for listening!
Stitching Pink (host) 4:57:18 PM

Lester Wiggs 4:58:23 PM

Carlos Ramone 4:58:25 PM
I want to get a job at a DC Mickey D and place pins in a filet o fish sandwich. Never know
Stitching Pink (host) 4:59:10 PM

Lester Wiggs 5:01:02 PM
