I like the idea of a Christmas tree with a cat tree built-in, but alas, if it's expressed purpose is for cats, our cat will not use it

Our tree is a fresh cut one, with colored lights, and so far all the cats have been leaving it alone!

Cat beds for example. Not touched but give them a cardboard box. Or our clothes that we don't want cat hair on that's a perfect bed.

Now that I think about it ifI put our most fragile ornaments on an actual cat tree, I think they would be safe.

our family had a lot of cats...not too many mishaps --but we had to stop using the old-timey silver tinsel - they liked to snack on it...

Truthfully, I never really had problems with any of our animals going after the tinsel. Random destruction of breakable things really got their attention. Still I stopped buying tinsel long ago, cause I just didn't like the idea of it circulating through the environment on the tree when I discarded it. I'd imagine the lifecycle of tinsel is something like Styrofoam.

Yeah, it's my regular night off! I get a half-week because of Christmas too, AND off Saturday :)

@G-Jax - absolutely agree - I'm reminiscing of the 60's when we didn't pay enough attention to the environmental ramifications!!

my first cat back in the 80s got into the small tabletop live tree. came home and saw the tree dragging itself across the floor, toonces had gotten caught up in it and couldn't get out.

The up-side of my Xmas gift story is that I made such a fuss, demanding that my mom take all the Benetton stuff back, that she did. And was fully refunded.

Unfortunately, some thrifts spray this horrible scent on the clothes that ca only be removed with soaking in baking soda forever...yeah you can still find good stuff, if you really search..

Nerf footballs were huge too. Actually that's what we use more for our games on our street. We played touch football on the street and then we played kill the man with a ball in the yard.
