Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:33:36 PM
Hi Christine, wonderful to see you! I told Russ he was producing today but I'm taking that away now that you're here. Sorry, Russ!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:34:21 PM

Christine 𓅊 𓃕 𓃹 12:36:21 PM
We ❤️ that percussion
Patrick White (1) 12:39:47 PM
Greetings to Gordon and his listeners. A worthy fill in for Young BUSKIRK who misses show as often as Cal Ripken
Patrick White (1) 12:40:42 PM
Reminder Jerry BUSKIRK plays the Billy Joel Psychedelia album every Thanksgiving pre Monday.
Russell Woessner 12:44:14 PM
I happily cede production duties to Christine.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:44:25 PM
Like clockwork! Hi Patrick, thanks for lending your talents today
Patrick White (1) 12:44:43 PM
I was once in PREX selling records and Dan waked in . It was like Norm From Cheers walking in the bar.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:45:07 PM
Haha, he has that good vibe
Adamgoget 12:46:42 PM
Damn I just caught your voice jerry
Adamgoget 12:46:57 PM
Hope everyone is well
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:47:45 PM
AGG, was the old Philadelphia cheesteak-soaked voice that gave it away?
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:48:59 PM
This albumwas popular in the days of hash
TAndy: Monthly Doner🥙 12:51:23 PM
Hey Christine! Adam and all!

Bike R 12:54:28 PM
Hey Christine!
Patrick White (1) 12:59:16 PM
Hey Jerry I heard you can get Hash in Turkey real cheap and then sell it here for big price. Sounds like a good plan
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:01:04 PM
Cool plan but I don't recommend it for you or I
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:02:08 PM

Russ knows his stuff. And to think he is an educated man!
Adamgoget 1:07:17 PM
Yes it was jerry. You gotta try the cheesesteaks from palmers quality meats
Adamgoget 1:07:37 PM
What up tandy good to see you
Patrick White (1) 1:08:37 PM
When it comes to cheesesteaks It’s Johns Roast Pork Snyder and Weccacoe
Richard Mitnick 1:09:20 PM
I have to withdraw my support for Turshu as a Jazz host. She is certainly welcome to run her show as she sees fit. But this past Saturday night she proved to have other music interests beyond Jazz.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:10:42 PM
Where is that, Adam?
Russell Woessner 1:11:15 PM
Dalessandro's got a Michelin nod: https://guide.michelin.com/us/en/pennsylvania/philadelphia_2942787/restaurant/dalessandro-s
Patrick White (1) 1:12:16 PM
Alessandro’s overrated, overhyped , overpriced.
Bike R 1:13:18 PM
Love Dallesandros!
TAndy: Monthly Doner🥙 1:13:31 PM
Big love to Dan, but it's always a treat to be awake for a Jerry show :)
Patrick White (1) 1:13:51 PM
Michelin should stick to tires
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:16:12 PM
I saw that, Russ. I haven't eaten there in30 years. I've heard people complain, but it was still great 30 years ago, and now it got this award. Patrick takes off from my show at 1:30 on Friday and takes the trolley to Weccacoe Street.
Patrick White (1) 1:16:28 PM
I think BUSKIRK the only PRB DJ who actually was in 3rd Street Jazz. Other than Maximum Leader.
Patrick White (1) 1:17:06 PM
The 75 trolley
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:17:23 PM
I'd love one right now. I do prefer a well made cheese steak to a pork sandwich with bitter greens.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:17:30 PM
For Russ!

Patrick White (1) 1:18:44 PM
When I go to my free South Jersey Concerts Summertime I stop at Donkeys in bucolic Camden for a great meaty cheesesteak
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:18:52 PM
I'm sure there were others
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:20:20 PM
The founder of princeton Record Exchange used to come in pre-PRE
Russell Woessner 1:21:42 PM
Maqueque!
TAndy: Monthly Doner🥙 1:21:51 PM
You know man I've been meaning to go to Donkeys since pre-covid. I just never have anything else to do in the area!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:22:01 PM
Russ and his bride to be, another famous radio host, used to come in every Saturday.
Mike Constantine 1:22:16 PM
Hate the broccoli rabe
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:22:33 PM
Tandy, what is Donkey's?
Patrick White (1) 1:23:16 PM
Tandy they have a great soul food across the street called CORINNES. No nicer people you will find.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:23:18 PM
hahaha, Mike doesn't like Broccoli Rabe or the Beach Boys. Proud of his positions!
Mike Constantine 1:23:42 PM
Both are bitter
TAndy: Monthly Doner🥙 1:23:44 PM
The cheesesteak place Patrick mentioned! Bourdain praised the place, and they serve it on a kaiser roll with lots of onions. Very good from what I've been told.
TAndy: Monthly Doner🥙 1:24:12 PM
@Patrick I think I know what I'm doing then ;) cheesesteak appetizer before some soul food
Brian D 1:24:13 PM
Ya I think it may have even been an onion roll
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:25:21 PM
They don't make onions in a cheesesteak like they used to!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:29:06 PM
As a youngster, all hoagies and cheesesteaks tasted way better to me that they do now. I'm not trying to be nostalgic here, they were way better, better ingredients. And there were no Nazi rules about how they should be made. In the cheesesteak department, sometimes they had mayo, sometimes they didn't. Sometimes they had pizza sauce, sometimes they didn't.
TAndy: Monthly Doner🥙 1:29:37 PM
Exactly, everyone has a taste. That's why hoagie shops have so many options ;)
TAndy: Monthly Doner🥙 1:29:58 PM
I don't get the whole cheese steak authority attitude though. If it's good it's good!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:30:13 PM
Right on, TAndy!
Patrick White (1) 1:30:44 PM
Any Diane Keaton Fans Buzzy Buzzkirk will be paying tribute to her at The Rotunda. Thursday December 11 . Free viewing.
TAndy: Monthly Doner🥙 1:30:48 PM
With that said I do like mine with peppers extra onions and mushrooms with cooper sharp. Mayo if I'm getting it from the corner store
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:31:21 PM
There is one politician, I forget who, ordered a cheese steak with Swiss and he was almost pilloried.
Mike Constantine 1:32:08 PM
I make my own....there's a deli down the street that slices rib eye to order
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:32:09 PM
Yum, TAndy, but are you provided with good mushrooms rather than crappy cheap ones?
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:32:39 PM
Haha, Mike doesn't put up with any crap or outrageous prices!
Mike Constantine 1:32:46 PM
was it Gary Hart?
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:33:07 PM
No, although he had quite a girlfriend
Patrick White (1) 1:34:15 PM
Hey Jerry I have to agree. I had a bad experience at Hermann Goerrings Cheesesteak Emporium
Mike Constantine 1:34:27 PM
It was John Kerry
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:34:43 PM
Herman sucked!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:34:49 PM
ohn Kerry is the politician who ordered a cheesesteak with Swiss cheese . In 2003, during a presidential campaign stop at Pat's King of Steaks in Philadelphia, his order was met with criticism from locals who considered Swiss cheese a major faux pas for a cheesesteak. The incident: Kerry, a Democratic presidential candidate at the time, ordered his cheesesteak with Swiss cheese instead of the more traditional Cheez Whiz or provolone. The reaction: The order was widely seen as a gaffe,
Patrick White (1) 1:35:36 PM
But he still won Pennsylvania
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:35:49 PM
Haha, HG's Cheesesteak and Coldcuts Emporium
Patrick White (1) 1:36:28 PM
Himmler had a very nice pastry shop.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:36:37 PM
Sweet!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:39:06 PM
Ceci n'est pas une cheesesteak
TAndy: Monthly Doner🥙 1:42:59 PM
Ha! I remember when Obama was given applause for his order at Five Guys, enough for it to be an unofficial menu item at some locations I think.
TAndy: Monthly Doner🥙 1:43:28 PM
And Jerry, the mushrooms I get usually at least seem like name brand canned rather than cheap and chopped.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:44:45 PM
Right on, TAndy! I would really like your designed steak sandwich with Shitaki's. That's what Mike C would do!
Mike Constantine 1:46:34 PM
I would....I like a shitaki
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:48:05 PM
One might get pilloried for that!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:48:49 PM
TAndy, what did Obama order at Four Guys?
Patrick White (1) 1:50:02 PM
You haven’t lived until you have smelled the mushroom farms in Chester County at 6am. Eau De Cologne!!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:52:03 PM
Are they grown with Eau De Horse fertilizer?
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:52:22 PM
Cows? What is that?
Patrick White (1) 1:52:39 PM
Saw a bizarre story the other day that claimed David Bowie Golden Years was supposed to be recorded by Elvis Presley
Patrick White (1) 1:53:18 PM
Don’t know what they use but you couldn’t pay me enough to work there
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:54:47 PM
I could hear the King singing that!
Patrick White (1) 1:56:21 PM
I was at a COSTSCO in Delaware last week that was like the Patty Hearst food riots. Can’t imagine what this week will be like in stores.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:56:56 PM
One of my daughters quit a camp because they had work jobs and she was once assigned to "composting." She got some on her new boots and that was it. The camp was done.

Patrick White (1) 2:00:31 PM

Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:08:59 PM
TAndy, sounds good to me! Chuck, so glad you enjoy that tune!
Lester Wiggs 2:14:08 PM
Hey Jerry, I had the radio on earlier. I heard 'Serenade to a Cuckoo' come on, thinking it was Dan Buzzkirk. I wanted to log in and make a snarky coment- ahem, Dan, Only Jerry Gordon is allowed to play that song. Sorry, I had a 10' piece of drywall above my head.
Patrick White (1) 2:17:05 PM
I remember Jerry playing a Chico OFarrill record and Will C and he engaging in a territorial on air Fisticuffs event.
Patrick White (1) 2:17:53 PM
Later they became friends and laughed about it.
Lester Wiggs 2:17:55 PM
Following up in that vein, The One and Only Jerry Gordon has special privileges on WPRB. He's spinning, I'm spinning, but listening. Riding out 76 past the Coh-she curve, He could have put on Disco Duck. And I would have turned it up.
Lester Wiggs 2:18:59 PM
@PAt- I have climbed to the top of the radio tower near Bakers Basin. And What did I see? Conshohockon
Patrick White (1) 2:19:19 PM
Well Dan played a god awful Mick Jagger singing shame shame last week so I guess Jerry can play Disco Duck
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:19:32 PM
Ha, no greater compliment that to be listened to onas radio with paint drips and dry wall powder all over it. Love it. Thanks for defending my territory although I respect Dan alot. I used to scare him when he would come into my record store as a kid
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:20:18 PM
I have the 45 of disco duck, I will dust it off, guys!
Patrick White (1) 2:20:26 PM
That Bakers Basin tower is a holy shrine . I used to bicycle near there and would say a Buddhist prayer in front of it
Patrick White (1) 2:22:05 PM
I never feared Jerry but that basement was intimidating
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:22:27 PM
Disco Duck 1977. Will play on my disco show. Niceto hear from you, Lester!
Patrick White (1) 2:24:36 PM
Always liked the word Disco . Never liked Discos themselves.
Lester Wiggs 2:25:13 PM
I think it was WIOQ, Midnight 1978. Tazzi? Ed Schaicky, lol. Took it right off the turntable and crushed it like a John Handy single.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:25:36 PM
Just wait!
Christine 𓅊 𓃕 𓃹 2:25:36 PM

I like the Average White Band's take on Work to Do. Did a great job w that.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:26:49 PM
I loved both tunes! Good for you for remembering Hard Work. That is some musical knowledge right there!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:27:15 PM
Clearly Christine does not hate Disco
Lester Wiggs 2:29:13 PM
bring the water to your eye
Patrick White (1) 2:29:42 PM
A song called Ape is High and I never heard of it?I must been monkeying around when it came out!!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:30:44 PM
Brian, their version is so great that at one point I didn't remember which was the original!
Patrick White (1) 2:33:36 PM
I actually enjoyed the short disco reign of WCAU 98.1 fm while working in a hot kitchen
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:34:48 PM
Who were the DJs?
Mike Constantine 2:38:08 PM
I remember WZZD (formerly WIBG) going disco for a short period of time
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:38:10 PM
I don't know karate but I know karazy!
Lester Wiggs 2:38:19 PM
Its not really important, but I wonder if his estate was settled. I had put on Papa Don't Take No Mess. Got into an 'argument' with the AI. I don't know Karate, but I know Ca-razy!
Lester Wiggs 2:38:40 PM
lol/
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:39:49 PM
Lester, glad you don't take any krap from AI. It tried to lecture me the other day and I told it to STFU. It apologized.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:40:17 PM
It was Alexa, actually. Not the first time I had a problem with her
Lester Wiggs 2:41:36 PM
it is helpful to me in certain circumstances. I had certain technical questions about well, technical things. Voltages, amperage, test equipment, etc. It has its uses. But don't try to engage with current politics etc. it is what it is.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:42:30 PM
Thank you, don't lecture me on politics or morality
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:43:22 PM
Those are the problems I sometimes have with AI
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:43:53 PM
Just the facts, Ma'am
Lester Wiggs 2:44:03 PM
the ethics of 'Papa don't take no mess' are beyond its purview.
Lester Wiggs 2:44:52 PM
Its just about discipline. Which James Brown exceeded in.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:45:02 PM
Good one
Lester Wiggs 2:45:22 PM
He was known to fine his players. True?
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:45:55 PM
Yup, until they all split and went to Parliament, It think
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:46:31 PM
A labor walkout
Patrick White (1) 2:53:28 PM
I remember WCAU had a DJ named Ramona with the most sultry voice I ever heard on radio. ZZD was short lived 990 am but it did break Prince
Christine 𓅊 𓃕 𓃹 2:55:05 PM
Wow...these past few hours flew like a cuckoo. Thanks for the excellent bonus show, Jerry!
TAndy: Monthly Doner🥙 2:55:08 PM
