DJ Hog (host) 8:08:26 PM
good evening!!!
Liz Bot 8:12:48 PM
You are playing a version of one of my all-time favorite songs! I have several versions of Little Birdie, including a couple fast banjo-picking Pete Seeger versions, but never heard this Nora Brown version! It’s lovely!
Richard Mitnick 8:13:01 PM
Just clicked in. Happy to have you in my digiteria. I hope you have a great show.
DJ Hog (host) 8:14:04 PM
@Liz Bot I'll have to hear the Pete Seeger stuff! You should listen to the record, it's full of plenty of beautiful appalachian folk music and fingerpicked guitar, the opening song is so good
DJ Hog (host) 8:14:11 PM
@Richard Mitnick hope you enjoy!
Liz Bot 8:18:26 PM
@DJ Hog - Ooh, that’s very much up my alley. Definitely looking forward to hearing the rest
TAndy: Monthly Doner🥙 8:23:47 PM

Zach 9:02:50 PM
I liked that worship hall of some unknown species
Liz Bot 9:03:25 PM
Yay! Make a Rising!
Liz Bot 9:07:01 PM
Jesse Moynihan of Make a Rising was one of the earliest storyboarders / writers / character creators for the Cartoon Network show AdventureTime. His house had some of my favorite West Philly house shows, Avant Gentleman’s Lodge. When he moved to LA for Adventure Time, he’d never worked on TV before, and the show hadn’t debuted yet, so it was all a big gamble that paid off. Before that he had an excellent and very long running comic called Forming
DJ Hog (host) 9:07:43 PM
omg no way! adventure time was one of my favorites as a kid, there was a lot of good music in it
DJ Hog (host) 9:08:17 PM
the other day i saw a video of pendleton ward doing live visuals for someone's dj set haha
Zach 9:10:23 PM
That's awesome Liz Bot! was always a big adventure time fan, i'll have to look into more Make A Rising
Kerrofflestomp 9:12:42 PM
Wow, I've heard of the nuthouse in Pendleton, OR. When I was staying in Hermiston. Cool to hear a band picked that up.
Kerrofflestomp 9:12:54 PM
o7 Hog!
DJ Hog (host) 9:13:18 PM
and an o7 to you too!
Kerrofflestomp 9:14:16 PM
West Philly is deep in the House Show realm.
Liz Bot 9:15:51 PM
@DJ Hog - Ooh, I wanna see P Ward’s DJ set visuals!
Liz Bot 9:16:57 PM
Hi Kerrofflestomp! Indeed, West Philly is the capital of Philly house shows!
TAndy: Monthly Doner🥙 9:17:17 PM
that was beautiful
Kerrofflestomp 9:17:21 PM
HA!
Kerrofflestomp 9:17:58 PM
So true,so true...
Liz Bot 9:19:25 PM
Hi Zach! Make a Rising is great! I’m a little biased as a lot of my friends were in that band,’but I legit really like their music. Also their shows always had crazy visuals, like Jesse and his brother Justin inside a homemade giant glowing inflatable box that inflated as a song progressed. One time after a show a group of us drove around Philly with giant insect-like balloon sculptures tied to the roof of the car. Of course those were made use of in the show
DJ Hog (host) 9:20:22 PM
That's awesome hahaha
Kerrofflestomp 9:21:29 PM
@Lizbot, I think house shows are just such a different level and the Porch Shows in West Philly was the coolest part of that district..
Liz Bot 9:26:06 PM
@Kerrofflestomp - Porch Fest is great, though a relatively newer development in WP shows. I never miss it unless the weather is truly lousy!
Liz Bot 9:27:13 PM
@Kerrofflestomp - So many unfinished spooky old Victorian basements hosted great house shows of my early adulthood - Danger Danger House, Haunted Cream Egg, Avant Gentleman’s Lodge, The Catbox, Stalag 13, many more! You gotta love houses with names!
Kerrofflestomp 9:28:06 PM
Yeah, I love to bike around on a nice day and it's whatever block to block.
DJ Hog (host) 9:29:32 PM
i love the music at basement shows but i am too tall for most of them
Kerrofflestomp 9:29:48 PM
Oh hell yeah! Names on shit around here is over the top for sure. Love it!
Kerrofflestomp 9:31:16 PM
Tappan Zee the primo example. lol
Zach 9:31:58 PM
we have an annual october porchfest in lambertville for the last few years, lots of different local talent, we put on a pretty good show for a town of 4000 people
Kerrofflestomp 9:34:05 PM
@Hog, man I hear ya. I'm 6'4" and a phrenologist would have a field day considering the head bumps that come with altitude.
Zach 9:35:41 PM
that's why I don't go to GA shows with short friends. Guys I can just stand in the back and no one will be mad at me for blocking them, y'all go mosh for a spot in the front
p4tti (chef) 9:36:25 PM
ooo i am loving this bagpipe
Kerrofflestomp 9:36:41 PM
@Zach, That's awesome for a small town! Local talent is a bulwark in so much stuff.
Kerrofflestomp 9:38:17 PM
@Zack, I just go find the best spot in the back and hope I am the tallest. lol
DJ Hog (host) 9:39:37 PM
omg patti hiiiiiii
p4tti (chef) 9:40:08 PM
hiiii!! omg is this what i think it is
DJ Hog (host) 9:40:31 PM
what do you think it is
Zach 9:41:37 PM
@Kerrofflestomp, yeah that's my go-to strategy, 90% success rate

divers deep deirdre ambient auratastic energy everywhere!
Ossy 9:42:24 PM

Liz Bot 9:43:39 PM
Hi Ossy! I’m prepping for tomorrow’s show, while still streaming DJ Hog, so I’m still here intermittently!

Liz Bot 9:45:07 PM
@Zach - I’ve never been to Lambertville’s Porchfest, but in additon to West Philly’s, I’ve gotten to Collingswood’s, Mt Airy and Roxborough’s. All are great! WP’s is the most crowded by far though!
DJ Hog (host) 9:45:29 PM
Really cool album

Kerrofflestomp 9:56:21 PM
Natural snow buildings? 30 year mortgage?
Liz Bot 9:57:20 PM
Hi Rob 🦜!
Zach 9:58:25 PM
if anyone goes next year you'll want to check out "the corner of chaos" featuring ground breaking acts like "Rubix Pube"
Zach 10:00:16 PM
This year the lead guitarist was playing slide guitar with her wizard staff of baby doll arms, yes thats a real sentence it was incredible
Liz Bot 10:01:57 PM
@p4tti - yes, there’s WPPM 106.5 and G Town radio! Back in the early 2000s there was also Radio Volta in West Philly, which is now defunct. I did a show there for a bit! It operated out of an old church
Kerrofflestomp 10:04:42 PM
Vegetable matter goes by a lot of unbelievable names these days.
Rob from Maryland 🦀 10:08:06 PM
Hi Lizbot!
Liz Bot 10:08:10 PM
@Kerrofflestomp - yr comment just put Robyn Hitchcock’s “Vegetable Friend” in my head, but I’m not complaining
DJ Hog (host) 10:08:39 PM
recommended reading for this show is luigi ugolini's "the vegetable man" – a story about a man being transformed into a plant
Rob from Maryland 🦀 10:08:46 PM
And goodnight everyone 😴
Kerrofflestomp 10:09:52 PM
I can't believe it's not Alfred Hitchcock! LMAO!

DJ Hog (host) 10:40:42 PM
well i guess you were genetically modified but
Liz Bot 10:41:06 PM
Whoa, this Matthew J. Rolin song is reminding me a bit of Laraaji, especially with this hammered dulcimer-sounding part!
Lucy Catemoji 10:41:27 PM
seed oils are coursing through my xylem
Liz Bot 10:42:25 PM
@Lucy - The plant self’s stoma is something out of Lloyd Kaufman’s Troma
DJ Hog (host) 10:43:15 PM
i definitely hear the laraaji!
Kerrofflestomp 10:43:30 PM
Always nice to tune down the guitars...
Kerrofflestomp 10:44:44 PM
Before catgut strings... Vines?
Liz Bot 10:45:45 PM
@DJ Hog - I just saw Laraaji this past weekend at a church on 13th st in Philly. It was part of that Ambient Church series that started in Brooklyn and the concert was in celebration of the 45th anniversary of Laraaji with Brian Eno producing “Ambient 3”. Really transcendent show! I’ve seen him perform four times now, but all the other times were outdoors
DJ Hog (host) 10:46:25 PM
i'm so jealous! wish i could see him live
Liz Bot 10:46:41 PM
@DJ Hog - saw him twice play in the Pine Barrens in Whitesbog Village at dusk! And once at Glenn Foerd. All amazing shows
DJ Hog (host) 10:46:45 PM
i saw the microphones in a church in maine, the show was so loud you could feel the pews shaking hahaha
DJ Hog (host) 10:47:04 PM
he's based in philly right?
Liz Bot 10:47:57 PM
@DJ Hog - He’s still touring for Ambient 3 anniversary tour, but he already played Philly, NYC and Baltimore, so no other shows nearby soon, but he is still pretty active. Since he’s from Philly, he still plays shows here semi-regularly
Liz Bot 10:49:10 PM
@DJ Hog - oh god, I can almost feel the pain in my eardrums of that microphones show! I saw them at First Unitarian Church years ago and it was loooud and reverberant. But I think the loudest thing I saw in recent years was Zvi
DJ Hog (host) 10:49:51 PM
i don't know zvi
DJ Hog (host) 10:50:12 PM
just googled them and can't find music – have any recommendations?
DJ Hog (host) 10:50:26 PM
this guy? https://ronzvivarod.bandcamp.com/
Kerrofflestomp 10:54:03 PM
Great stuff Hog. Thanks. The Eye's have it!
Liz Bot 10:54:14 PM
Zvi is Ron Varod, yes. Saw him opening for a different artist I think was there for. Blew my eardrums out! Was in a relatively small space - a studio is Germantown
Liz Bot 10:55:00 PM
The very Big Billy Bass what lives on our Barge studio walls? I expect that BBB to begin laying down tracks
DJ Hog (host) 10:55:33 PM
the world needs more fish DJs!
p4tti (chef) 10:56:01 PM
Oh that's cool @lizbot! i need to ask you more about this sometime, thank you for the great show tn dj hog!! i think i am now plant
DJ Hog (host) 10:56:33 PM
thanks for tuning in!!! sleep well everyone
p4tti (chef) 10:56:53 PM
also maetrix was telling me about the ambient church series and i have been meaning to go
Liz Bot 10:57:00 PM
@DJ Hog - It’s true. But keep away from the trout! https://youtu.be/c1HGtBZLlZk?si=yy3EuhUhKDPV91v0
TAndy: Monthly Doner🥙 10:59:06 PM
thanks for the show!
Liz Bot 10:59:14 PM
@p4tti (chef) - Ambient Church is very worthwhile. I recommend getting on their mailing list. The visuals are fairly toned down but definitely add to the experience; and they choose very beautiful churches to project onto. I like Klip Collective’s projections for more hyper music
Liz Bot 10:59:29 PM
Thanks for a great 3 hours, Hog!
Kerrofflestomp 11:00:04 PM
@Lizbot, Terry Gilliam was bound to have a baby.
