Hey hey! Frustrated I’ve not yet seen NY live. Was so close in 2024 when he was supposed to play with Crazy Horse at Rock The Park, a festival here in London, Ontario. The rest of that tour got cancelled though. His replacement was Bryan Adams? Ha. Needless to say I didn’t get tickets for that.

I think I just asked anyone to get me that tape. Which someone did!

I saw a guy wearing a Magnolia Electric Company shirt at the Neil Young show I went to a couple days after Steve Albini died and I wonder how they're doing a surprising amount (for example, now).

Took my Mom & sibs to see CSN&Y way back...and I'll never forget she said - "that Neil Young, he's my favorite!"

I remember the first CD I bought with my own money but remembering my grandma buying me a tape of Hall + Oates at a department store is equally fond.

Mom also introduced me to the Kingston Trio, BTW...

(I think it was Voices.)

My Aunt Sissy bought me Han Solo in Hoth gear at the Woolworths

I don't remember buying my first cassette, but I sure remember getting butsted for shoplifting a cassette. What a psychosoma that was!

Important figure for me. Gave an extra Hoth Han to a friend who was dying because he mentioned he always wanted one. Went to my basement and came up with a spare. When he passed I went to his home and it was on his bookcase.

When I was a kid I was friendly with the manager of a local Wawa. He told me if I found any packs of baseball cards that were open I could keep them because the gum might be tainted. I opened a few packs that were definitely sealed so I could collect more cards. I was racked with guilt and confessed to my mom who made me go apologize to the manager. I wonder what he thought of it all.

also where I grew up - in Wheaton MD - there was a bakery and they would put stuff on racks out back on the alley so they would cool faster and we would sometimes ride by on our bikes and grab stuff. f'n hooligans.

My life of crime was over.

I had friends who worked at a music studio that seemed to steal more equipment than a studio could hold, including a DAT recorder and mixing board. It seemed like everyone that worked there did it.

@Dennis - Ha, I was tempted, but my parents ended up talking to his parents. We were maybe 7 or 8. I’ll never forgot his name because it was Pierre but he said it like “pear”. Things from our yard always somehow found their way into his yard. But he only lived there a couple years and then he moved back to France.

My old roommate Brett and I went to watch a WCW event on TV at a bar and while there were only 8-10 people there including us the "contest winners" for various giveaways was clearly rigged in favor of the host's friends' table. So...

...at the end of the night while we were leaving Brett in stride grabbed the life-sized cardboard cutout of Bill Goldberg, put it under his arm and started running...

@Jon Solomon - Nice! Also went to the much larger Austin toy store Terra Toys, but Toy Joy was much more conveniently located and concentrated with good novelties! That trip was exactly 10 years ago this week. My phone sent me a memories notification. We were there for a wedding.

I went to Toy Joy in...1999...2000? Still have the dogbot I bought there.
