Hey everyone, welcome back to the Untranslatable! Today's show is focusing on exploring different forms of dissonance

good morning.

Morning Dale! How's it going

Good morning DJ Jagannath and Dale. My wife and I are looking forward to this show

Morning Rob! Will try to live up to the expectations

Mornin!

Morning TAndy! How's it going

Good morning TAndy

@DJ Jagannath, we are not disappointed in the slightest. It's perfectly dissonant

Yes! Yesss

Glad to hear that! This might be one of the most out-there tracks on today's show, very cool use of harpsichord

Morning jim

Good morning, its lovely! I'm rocking out!

Brilliant music. Thanks.

Morning Richard and Ears! Stick around for some free jazz after this

We loved harpsichord piece too

if you liked that brotzmann check out side one of this album by jasun martz.

Will do! I've just started getting into free jazz so any recs are welcome

This music is close to John Zorn's "noise"

I was actually considering playing Zorn but I couldn't fit it in

Try Michael Gordon's "Decasia"

🤘 Morning all 🤘

That looks super cool Richard, will give it a listen

Morning DebbieWebby!

Awesome show today! I've been tuned in since 7

Thank you! It's mostly metal now, a bit of noise rock towards to the end

Loving it!!

No better way to wake up tbh

Morning, TAndy 🤘☕️

It's always interesting hearing how you transition the show from classical and avant garde to black (coffee) metal

Good morning DJ Deb!!

I'm not the best at the transitions ngl

Jagannath finds the best black metal 🤘

But it helps that classical and avant garde are very similar to metal in many ways

Prokofiev's Toccata is one of the most metal songs I've heard lol

Thank you DebbieWebby! Your metal picks are no worse

I barely know anything outside of black, death, and sludge so the variety is appreciated

Still, you know yer shit 🤘😆 You school me everytime I tune in

It was all I listened to for like two years so I've gone pretty deep into the rabbit hole lol

That's pretty awesome.... And why your perfect for WPRB. Listeners love this type of dedication.

On that note....

Everyone donate for the love of metal and quality DJs!!

Yo DJ I would be totally down for a sludge show one of these mornings

Noted TAndy (maybe next week?) and thank you Debbie! Everyone go donate if you haven't already

donated!

The only issue with sludge is that the lyrics are not always clean (Acid Bath, for example)

I second that, TAndy!!

Yesss!! Sludge next Monday!

Wohooo 👏 Thank you, Bike R!!!

Sludge next Monday it is, then

Absolutely love this connection between the avant-classical and metal, amazing selection here! was thinking recently about the relationship between Cowell's Tides of Maunaunen and sludge/doom. sowing the seeds of dissonance etc.. great stuff!!!

I don't think I've heard Tides, will take a look! these guys (Deathspell Omega) for example are super classical influenced, moreso than most metal bands

I sort of gravitated towards metal even though I was trained classically in piano and it makes perfect sense to me haha

Let's gooooooo

I honestly never really paid attention to the vocals in sludge or stoner metal, it's just extra noise to add to the thickness of the mix.

Gotta be FAA compliant

They're mostly incomprehensible but you never know

Maybe save it for a time you're subbing during safe harbor hours?

Dw, will make it work for next monday

>:)

Good Morning, Gianna 🤘☕️

No worries, The Metal Archives has all of the Acid Bath lyrics posted. No need to have the FCC shut down the station during a Pledge Drive 🤣

That would be very unfortunate indeed

I love the harpsichord, but this is more my speed for this monday morning

Thanks for the show dude!

Have a good one!! Bye all

Of course, see y'all next week!
