rick hallahan 12:02:35 PM
If the Phils win this series, they'll win it all.
Adamgoget 12:02:58 PM
So good to hear you Jerry
Adamgoget 12:03:08 PM
Happy friday everyone glad to see you all here
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:03:14 PM
This is the toughest matchup!
rick hallahan 12:03:42 PM
Hey Adam!
Adamgoget 12:03:45 PM
A trio of bloom for sure
Adamgoget 12:04:00 PM
How are you rick
rick hallahan 12:04:43 PM
Doing OK, Adam.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:06:20 PM
Adam, are you a Phillies fan?
Mike Constantine 12:06:35 PM
Happy Friday to those that celebrate
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:07:03 PM
Hahaha! We are all big celebraters here!
Patrick White 12:07:27 PM
Greetings to Jerry and his loyal fans , especially those inclined to root for the Phillies. On these High Holy Days we need the Phillies to bring back Hava Nagila as a rallying cry.
rick hallahan 12:08:15 PM
Mike, I must ask the eternal question: Is the famous Mike Constantine related to the famous Will Constantine Jr.?
Mike Constantine 12:08:39 PM
He's my cuz!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:09:03 PM
Hi Patrick! We will all sing any song or do any dance to put this baby to bed and not experience more disappointment.
rick hallahan 12:09:03 PM
That's some good genes.
Mike Constantine 12:09:42 PM
Yeah....he's such a groovy guy
Mike Constantine 12:10:15 PM
and talented
rick hallahan 12:10:39 PM
Indeed!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:10:55 PM
Everybody here in the chat has deep roots in music! Will is birding in Cape May this entire week.
Patrick White 12:11:21 PM
The radio world would be much better if had more OV Wright music on the air .
Adamgoget 12:11:21 PM
Not a big sports fan but I like philly games
Mike Constantine 12:11:45 PM
It's that time of year...the Birds are moving through
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:12:05 PM
The Constantine Bros (Will and Mike's Dads) seem to have been fiercely independent and cool.
Patrick White 12:12:06 PM
You can’t beat Cape May in the fall. Big Jazz fest later in the month.
Adamgoget 12:12:22 PM
This bitchin bajas track is nice
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:12:55 PM
Nice, Adam!
Patrick White 12:13:44 PM
And Michael Constantine of Reading Pa was a truly great actor who improved everything he appeared in
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:14:14 PM
Patrick, there are only 4 other people in the tri-state area who know know who OV Wright is! And certainly no one else in the postal system.
Mike Constantine 12:14:50 PM
Thanks to him, I'm pretty hard to find on the Net
Rob from Maryland 🦀 12:15:38 PM
This Bitchin Bajas piece is really really nice
Mike Constantine 12:16:14 PM
Lovin' it
Rob from Maryland 🦀 12:16:22 PM
And good afternoon to all
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:16:37 PM
On the other hand, our Mike Constantine served as a spiritual and musical guide (like Patrick) as well as a ladies man through the eighties and nineties
Mike Constantine 12:17:14 PM
Well, Will does credit me for his love of music
Adamgoget 12:17:39 PM
Yooooo that was a slick intro jerry
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:18:04 PM
Hi Rob, good to hear from you. As I mentioned earlier, Will Constantine Jr. is in a locker for one week in CApe May looking at the birdies.
Mike Constantine 12:18:35 PM
He's got great weather
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:18:55 PM
Glad you liked that Adam, you have a wide musical palette!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:19:34 PM
Yeah, I wouldn't want to be in one of those lockers if it was much hotter!
vildachaya1 12:20:02 PM
Hola Amigos - hope everyone is enjoying their Friday with Serenade...
Rob from Maryland 🦀 12:20:43 PM
I don't know who Will Constantine Jr. is. Is he related to Will Constantine the Great by any chance
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:21:03 PM
Yes, same guy!
Rob from Maryland 🦀 12:21:11 PM
and is he emperor of Cape May?
Rob from Maryland 🦀 12:21:34 PM
I hope he sees a lot of birdies down there
Adamgoget 12:21:38 PM
Your tone definitely set the intention Jerry
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:21:44 PM
Everybody, look for a small Vildechaya feature in hour number II
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:22:00 PM
So well said, Adam
Adamgoget 12:22:06 PM
Can't wait to hear it
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:23:08 PM
Rob M, Will has been doing this for I think 11 straight years and always scores, hiding out at their bird sanctuary.

oh boy -Thank You! I have a darn work meeting but will try to wrap by 1:30 so I can hear the extremely rare occurrence of hearing my tunes on the air waves.
Adamgoget 12:26:34 PM
What a show
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:26:38 PM
Vilda Chaya, there is a groundswell for the return of your band.

Mike Constantine 12:28:16 PM
Congrats!
Mike Constantine 12:29:01 PM
I retired five years ago and it's still odd not going to work
rick hallahan 12:29:25 PM
Retirement is a beautiful thing.
Patrick White 12:29:43 PM
I remember a Boss told me to Lead, Follow , or get the hell out of the way!!! So I got out of the way for 37 years..
vildachaya1 12:30:10 PM
Thanks Mike - In the meantime I am performing for a 90th birthday party tomorrow - Seems about right
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:30:28 PM
Yes, congrats Benj. I have never thought of you in any other way. I always think of you sculpting away or leading bands. I look forward to the listeners to hear your cosmic piece of music we will play today. Congrats.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:31:34 PM
Patrick, and you have stayed super active during your retirement, feeding your brain multiple times a day.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:32:40 PM
I think Adam is still out there go getting!
Patrick White 12:33:45 PM
Actually Jerry I only thought I was retired. The USPS still has me listed as active. They gave me employee of the month last August and I never left my house.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:34:33 PM
Well t;hey are catching up finally to the things they should have done along time ago.
vildachaya1 12:35:21 PM
BTW - WPRB in general this week has been awesome to listen to - every time - I even listened to some metal for a bit. It really is the only radio station in New Jersey
vildachaya1 12:36:02 PM
And I listen over the air from Elkins Park PA
Patrick White 12:36:11 PM
Yeah Vilda tell that to those annoying gooobers at 101. 5 fm!!!
Roffled Synapse 12:38:43 PM
@Patrick, "Just when ya think your out, they pull ya back in"
Roffled Synapse 12:38:58 PM
Hi!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:40:22 PM
When Roffle tried to retire with Roffled Synapses they wouldn't let him.
Patrick White 12:40:29 PM
Yeah Roff like telling Tony Soprano your retiring
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:41:19 PM
Ha!
Roffled Synapse 12:41:50 PM
Yeah, I'm on the no retire list, but they can't find me.
rick hallahan 12:42:25 PM
This is a great tune - very timely.
Adamgoget 12:42:47 PM
Retirement is calling my name though. I want to be with you guys
Patrick White 12:43:03 PM
Jerry hard to believe Rudi Vallee was still performing in 1980. A true crooners crooner!!
Patrick White 12:44:35 PM
On my last day of work before I left I sang the country classic You Never Even Called Me By My Name ! to my boss.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:47:01 PM
I remember Rudy Vallee on the talk shows. Merv.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:47:11 PM
Maybe.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:47:55 PM
Rick, whoever the horn player was, he took a good but simple solo on that last track.
rick hallahan 12:48:22 PM
Agreed.
Mike Constantine 12:49:10 PM
There's that theme song
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:49:29 PM
Thank you, Mike
Mike Constantine 1:02:53 PM
Time to party like it's 5786
vildachaya1 1:03:43 PM
LOL Mike -
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:04:16 PM
That is hysterical. I would pay big bucks to see you and Patrick perform. Kind of like Abbot and Costello, I imagine.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:04:54 PM
Roffled Synapses would be the MC with dry one liners.
Mike Constantine 1:04:58 PM
Why you I oughta.....
Roffled Synapse 1:05:34 PM
Krakówse Klezmer. I'm in!
Patrick White 1:07:54 PM
I was thinking more of a Smothers Brothers act.
vildachaya1 1:08:38 PM
John Zorn's Masada is regrouping for the Big Ears Festival - I wasn't familiar but looks worth a trip to Knoxville.https://bigearsfestival.org/event/masada-quartet/
Rob from Maryland 🦀 1:08:45 PM
@Jerry wrt Will Constantine Jr/II, how very cool! I haven't been to Cape May since 2009 which was in December for an Ivory Gull (extremely rare this far south). I/we used to go in autumn at least once a year but that was before (I knew of) the jazz festival
Roffled Synapse 1:08:52 PM
Yeah, Vaudville in a Krackhouse is a tough room.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:09:12 PM
Krackhouse, is that a casino?
vildachaya1 1:09:41 PM
Oops that post wasn't right - The Big Ears Festival is where Masada is regrouping - Looks like a cool festival

Christine can play Goldie Hawn
vildachaya1 1:15:11 PM
At the end of the 90s I produced The Intergalactic Jewish Music festival - It ran for 5 years presenting new ideas in Jewish Music - It was a lofty time hanging with the World class players like John Zorn, the Klezmatics, Brave Old World, and others. We did shows at The International House, Painted Bride, The Middle East Restaurant (Joey Tayoun produced)
rick hallahan 1:15:36 PM
Jerry, it just doesn't get much better than this. Muchos gracias for the "new" Klezmer music!
Mike Constantine 1:16:13 PM
Joey Tayoun.....was his father......?
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:16:27 PM
Really glad you're digging it Rick!! Not for everybody, but you never surprise me.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:16:32 PM

Roffled Synapse 1:17:15 PM

vildachaya1 1:18:26 PM
I think Jimmy was the politicol dad. Joey was a music dude. Still plays in a local band called Jaffna
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:19:20 PM
Roffle, I grew up eating pierogies and borscht
Mike Constantine 1:19:48 PM
Two of my favorite things
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:20:26 PM
And golumpkis. Yes!!!
Roffled Synapse 1:20:39 PM
Golumpki's all the way!
Mike Constantine 1:20:48 PM
There's a Ukrainian church on 611 and they sell pierogies from time to time....wonferfull
rick hallahan 1:21:04 PM
Homemade pierogies are the best.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:21:13 PM

Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:21:56 PM

Roffled Synapse 1:22:07 PM
I ate a whole bunch of pierogies yesterday. A lot of them... lol
Mike Constantine 1:22:20 PM

vildachaya1 1:22:21 PM

Mike Constantine 1:24:59 PM
Stuffed babbage weather is coming
Mike Constantine 1:25:10 PM
cabbage
vildachaya1 1:25:31 PM
WXPN had an Irish show every week. I tried to convince them to let me host a Jewish music show. It was shot down so quickly and I was told the Irish show had been 'grandfathered' in. My brother did a Jewish show on the Boston Public Radio station on Sunday Mornings and it was one of their top shows... Philly wasn't into it.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:25:35 PM
But alas, I never met a woman who could (or would) make it for me.
Ossy 1:25:50 PM
afternoon Jerry!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:26:05 PM
Hi ossy, thanks for tuning in..
Roffled Synapse 1:26:16 PM
Your Babcia knows
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:26:25 PM
You know it
vildachaya1 1:28:16 PM
This song - Avinu Malkenu - might be recognized by Phish fans - they did it in concert a few times
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:29:36 PM
Vilda, don't get me going on WXPN's refusal to be as hip as they think.
Ossy 1:30:36 PM
A beauty day outside, especially on princeton campus
rick hallahan 1:31:11 PM
When I was at Penn, I refused to listen to WXPN.
vildachaya1 1:31:20 PM
Yup - XPN's music is so homogenous it is a pretty boring station now. Mostly easy listening singer songwriter.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:31:27 PM
Nice, Ossie! Are you running around Princeton today?
vildachaya1 1:32:04 PM
Rick was a WKDU guy right?
Mike Constantine 1:32:21 PM
Been boring for many years
Richard Mitnick 1:34:30 PM
Hey Jerry, Richard Mitnick here, back from a long absence. Would love a short chat. Tried to call the station, got no answer. You can call me if somehow I can give you my phone number privately, or you may still have it. I will be listening to "Serenade"and to Dan Mondays. Any other Jazz on the station? What happened to Will Constantine Jr. Enjoying the Klezmer.. I will watc here for any reply you might make.
rick hallahan 1:34:36 PM
Vildachaya, it was WRTI.
Brian D 1:34:49 PM
Good Yom Tov late acknowledge... Love hearing that Grisman / Statman collab. Just saw David's son Sam(son) Grisman and his great band at an outdoor fest on the Chesapeake Bay a few weeks back. Carrying on the tradition. Sam chose the larger instrument (stand up bass) as opposed to his dad who of course chose the highly portable mandolin.
Ossy 1:35:39 PM
Jerry - Was in a campus transfer students visit via rowan and indeed was adventuring around there! Not my first time there though lol
Ossy 1:36:26 PM
Was hoping to tour stop by at the barge, I would've likely seen you there, haha
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:45:12 PM
Brian D, thank you, you are the best. And a great lover of Grisman and Statman. One of your many fine qualities! And you speak Hebrew!
rick hallahan 1:45:22 PM
Vildachaya, I'm impressed!
Mike Constantine 1:45:51 PM
Yeah....good stuff!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:46:01 PM
He was a very innovative musician at a very young age
vildachaya1 1:46:36 PM
Thank you - I have to give it to the players - all top folks from Philly -

Thanks Jerry - It is a treat to hear it over the air. Also note it sounds a little different - Xylophone more pronounced here and there etc.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:50:12 PM
Time for a remix!
vildachaya1 1:50:35 PM
I am going to make a 2nd CD just for you Jerry -
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:51:01 PM
It will be a hit this time, I promise!
Brian D 1:51:01 PM
Oh I don't know a durn thing about speaking Hebrew ha. Just a word or 2 here and there
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:51:23 PM
Well you got it right!
Patrick White 1:53:22 PM
The great David Grisman. A regular performer on John Weingart show. Great stuff Jerry
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:54:34 PM
Patrick, you are a Universal Acceptor of knowledge of all kinds, and I truly respect that!
Patrick White 1:54:52 PM
Really wanted to jump in on the XPN bashing but I just did Atonement!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:57:05 PM
Yeah, but we didn't really forgive them
Roffled Synapse 1:59:54 PM
Great legacy though... lol
Patrick White 2:05:24 PM
Jerry looks like no Koufax for Yom Kippur. They should be okay with Drysdale pitching
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:06:05 PM
It's a shocker!!!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:07:01 PM
Schwing!
rick hallahan 2:07:43 PM
I give Koufax a lot of credit for living his beliefs.

Brian D 2:21:50 PM
Good move. It is so good
Mike Constantine 2:22:23 PM
When I was a kid there were some dirty lyrics to the song.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:23:30 PM
You thrived on that kind of stuff, Mike! Listening to "Let's Spend the Night Together" over and over.
Mike Constantine 2:24:02 PM

Parents when What'd I Say was blaring from jukes and turntables must have had a fit during the oohhs and ahhs back n forth.... then 10 years later more parents had to deal with the mid section of Whole Lotta Love blaring from speakers. Thank goodness for keeping parents scared
Mike Constantine 2:26:47 PM
Had to keep the parents on their toes
Brian D 2:27:13 PM
Then... we had the power of the WalkMan
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:27:26 PM

Mike Constantine 2:34:13 PM
How do the thermos know to keep hot things hot and cold things cold?
Mike Constantine 2:35:14 PM
And do not put a magnet near the picture tube of your parent's tv
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:35:18 PM
My kids got me a trendy thermos for a present and now I have to wait three hours to drink my morning coffee.
Mike Constantine 2:35:34 PM
I know all too well
Roffled Synapse 2:35:36 PM

Brian D 2:49:54 PM
I first heard You Don't Know Me in the 80s via the Mickey Gilley cover on mom's Country radio station. Pretty good take on it. Back when the Country stars did standards, Soul, pop etc from the earlier eras
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:51:05 PM
Brian, Let's Go Get Stoned is coming up. Do you know the genesis of that song?
Mike Constantine 2:52:13 PM
