Good morning. Dave here hosting Sangeet today.
kulfi rama 9:43:09 AM
Hi Dave, the Bhavai Prakash track was not played.
kulfi rama 9:43:29 AM
you played someone sing Nada tanumanisham
kulfi rama 9:44:12 AM
can you put bhavani Prakash Saranga on please?
Sangeet Team (host) 9:45:14 AM
thanks for the clarification, Kulfi Rama. That's what I get for trusting the liner notes on the disc. My knowledge is still too limited to recognize kritis, especially when I am on the air.
Sangeet Team (host) 9:45:28 AM
I can not fit the other piece in today
Sangeet Team (host) 9:45:56 AM
the best I can do is fix the playlist
kulfi rama 9:46:45 AM
ok! I know Dr Bhavani here in NJ and have heard her. Was looking forward to it - and pleasantly surprised
Sangeet Team (host) 9:47:07 AM
terribly sorry. The rest of the show is planned out
Sangeet Team (host) 9:47:51 AM
next time I host, I'll play it. October 11
kulfi rama 9:48:06 AM
btw - love your stewardship. Full of bio and context.
Sangeet Team (host) 9:48:27 AM
at least I get something right
kulfi rama 9:51:56 AM

Sangeet Team (host) 9:52:15 AM
very nice!
Karen Swaine 10:08:36 AM
oh my.... I first saw Imrat Khan in Amsterdam.. it was maybe in 1976 or 77.. it was the first time i'd seen/heard a surbahar... I happen to love low register instruments and went wild over the sound.. (which is a bit weird in this recording your playing.. echo?) anyway, someone I knew surreptitiously taped another performance he did with his son (or two of his sons) & I have the cassette tape.. and would be pleased to loan it to you if you have a way to make a copy. let me know. peace.
Sangeet Team (host) 10:12:17 AM
i think they did add some studio echo to simulate some cavernous palace maybe
Sangeet Team (host) 10:13:24 AM
thanks for the offer of the cassette, but my collection is already sagging the floorboards
Karen Swaine 10:15:18 AM
I recommend Imrat Khan's recordings on Nimbus and Water Lily.. drop dead gorgeous sound! haha the floorboards... I like to say that we moved from an apt in NYC to this old NJ house partly because of our big lp collection, lol.
Sangeet Team (host) 10:16:18 AM
yes, I have many of his Nimbus and Water Lily Acoustics CDs.
Sangeet Team (host) 10:17:59 AM
although I take issue with Nimbus' recording philosophy. They seem to place the mic far a way from the musician, which leads to a low recording volume. It also sounds like they are performing on a faraway stage rather than next to you
Sangeet Team (host) 10:18:33 AM
I still buy all their output though
addie 🐍🐍🐍 plum 10:32:05 AM
