There was a Beefheart docu where the people being interviewed had some fun with their background scenes. Instead of "LOOK AT MY OFFICE LOOK AT MY BOOK SHELF! IT IS A BOOK SHELF BEHOLD!" or... the ever popular "LOOK AT MY RECORDING STUDIO TOYS HOW THE SPARKLE SO!!!" .... it was say someone in a desert with a fake antique phone that served as a mic...

The Merv Griffin scenes warmed my heart. Mom watched that show every day and I know I must have seen that episode with DEVO. I know I remember seeing Kal Rudman on there. When the band says something that makes Merv thinks they are doubting his sincerity in his comments he (Merv) is so sensitve "No! No! I really mean that!" then... "I never said you didn't Merv..." heh... loved that

A real bummer. I'd heard a terrific interview with him earlier this year on Conan Neutron's podcast. Seemed like such a sweet guy. Had been meaning to check out his new project Ghost Forest.

I used to love it when the old school version of WPST (yes them.. they were so diverse back in 1980-83 ish) would play the live version of the Freedom of Choice instrumental theme song segue into Whip It. It really was a great live moment from them.

I have a special report for the chat: I saw Marissa Paternoster's new band/Philly area supergroup Universal Girlfriend's debut show last weekend and they were HAWT!

A few other pals were at that show and had similarly stellar reports.

wish I could but I'll be working - in Baltimore. My mom saw Jaws and immediately came home and said "Jonathan, I forbid you from seeing this movie. It's too scary and you'll have nightmares". And then I walked up to Wheaton Plaza and saw it. I was 9. different times.

Most of my intro is about ways Jaws terrified me as a youth.

DJ Ten, my mom tried to pull me outta Gremlins when it gets anarchistic and I did an early occupy in the theater and saw it out.

people actually stood up in the movie theatre when the shark blows up and applauded when I saw it.

I watched Robocop over the weekend, then rolled right into Our Robocop Remake followed by three different podcasts about Robocop (including one talking to the actor who gets squibbed by ED-209 roughly 300,000 times).

there was a doc a few years ago on phil tippet, the stop motion animator who did robocop. mad dreams and monsters was the title, really good. think i saw it on prime.

There's some bonkers story about a guy on set taunting Peter Weller, in costume, with Oreos right before a scene.

There are Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back ones, where each person gets 15 seconds to remake. It is also incredible.

Those kids who remade Raiders of the Lost Ark in the days before the internet, using only the movie's soundtrack, is incredible.

I have seen the raiders one.

Raiders is the kind of movie I can watch anytime it's on. I love Raiders.
