From wiki: Brown's date and place of birth are uncertain; many sources state that he was born in 1910 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, but the researchers Bob Eagle and Eric LeBlanc suggest that he was born in 1903 or 1904, in Jackson, Tennessee, on the basis of Social Security information. Reputedly, he maybe the half-brother of Big Bill Broonzy.

Goodmorning! What a pleasant surprise on such a beautiful morning! You've made my day!
Esoterica (host) 10:17:32 AM
Good morning, Inspector! Aw thanks! Nice to see ya here:)
David Shortell 10:23:09 AM
Maybe today’s show should’ve started with score from “Play Misty For Me” instead of “Dirty Harry”. The former of those 1971 Clint Eastwood movies is more blues relevant, as it includes footage of Johnny Otis playing at the 1970 Monterey Jazz Festival.
David Shortell 10:23:44 AM
Who is that lady singing with Willie?

i can't find the female vocalist
David Shortell 10:39:35 AM
You just reminded me of the movie “Sweet and Lowdown” which I haven’t seen since it opened in 1999. There are over 30 songs in its soundtrack but “Sweet and Lowdown” is not one of them!
Esoterica (host) 10:41:30 AM
i love thta film
Esoterica (host) 10:41:35 AM
that
Esoterica (host) 10:42:06 AM
i just recall sean penn repeating the line, "i made a mistake!" heartwrenching
David Shortell 10:42:48 AM
I don’t think the 1977 Rudy Ray Moore comedy has anything to do with this Petey Wheatstraw.
Esoterica (host) 10:43:35 AM
ha never saw that one

yeah that was great
Bike R 11:14:57 AM

David Shortell 11:15:00 AM
Though unrelated, that Bukka White song reminds me of the 1968 Joseph Dolan Tuotti play “Big Time Buck White”. During the removal of his champion title for draft evasion, Muhammed Ali starred in a Broadway musical version that flopped!

This is the Chico Hamilton song that Mick Taylor from the Stones got some lines from Larry Coryell's guitar solo and used them in Can't You Hear me Knockin
Esoterica (host) 11:19:34 AM
one of my fave songs, bri, too
Esoterica (host) 11:19:51 AM
sticky fingers is one of my fave albums ever
Brian D 11:21:50 AM
Yeah both great. Mick T loved that Chico lp and Larry's playing on it (Gabor Szabo plays on some bonus tracks on a later release). Love that period of Chico Hamilton in the 60s where he had an amazing lineup (Coryell or Szabo, Charles Lloyd etc).
Esoterica (host) 11:22:56 AM
great info, thanks, bri
Esoterica (host) 11:23:09 AM

Brian D 11:27:06 AM
Jazz influence in that case but yes, blues especially w/the Stones
Bike R 11:27:21 AM
