Probably meant for Dave -- I'll pass on the thanks!

@ Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) Happy Indepence Day. All hail the Red, White ~ and BlueS ! :-D
Richard of Rocky Hill 10:20:24 AM
And how better to celebrate than with a selection from the classic album Ballad For Americans by Princeton, NJ's own, the great Paul Robeson?
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 10:23:39 AM
Happy 4th Richard!
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 10:27:22 AM
Barbecue Bob was an Atlanta based musician and you can hear the similarity in his approach to that taken by the more famous Willie McTell
David Shortell 10:29:34 AM
There's a modern NJ blues band called Barbecue Bob & the Spareribs.
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 10:32:30 AM
: )

I'm reposting R. Crumb's 12-page Patton bio: https://stendek77.wordpress.com/patton-comic-tale-by-robert-crumb
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 10:41:43 AM
I recently received a new biography of Crumb as a present, though I've yet to read it
Richard of Rocky Hill 10:58:53 AM
@ David Shortell "Barbecue Bob & the Spareribs," you just gotta love it! ;-D
Richard of Rocky Hill 11:08:39 AM
A question: in "Don't Mistreat Your Good Boy Friend," The Bubbling Over Five now and then breaks into a double-timed rhythm. It's very effective and I've heard other blues players do this. Is there a name /term for it?
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 11:09:15 AM
I know what you mean Richard but if there's a term I don't know it!
Richard of Rocky Hill 11:13:18 AM
I've never heard a term either, besides just double timing.
Richard of Rocky Hill 11:24:51 AM
More on Fred Ramsey ... in the last years of his life, he lived up near Lambertville. He's the jazz & blues scholar/enthusiast who was responsible for the invaluable Leadbelly's Last Sessions albums, which he recorded ~ using the then-new technology of reel-to-reel tape ~ before Leadbelly's death in 1949 (maybe in 1948?). They came out as a Folkways boxed set in 1953 and were re-released earlier this year by Smithsonian Folkways.
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 11:27:19 AM
Good to know, Richard!
Richard of Rocky Hill 11:33:51 AM
Leadbelly's Last Sessions are highly recommended because Ramsey recorded them in a living room setting with some of his and Leadbelly's NYC friends present, as well as Huddie's wife Martha who sings wonderfully on a few tracks. We hear Leadbelly's song introductions, story telling and patter ~ not interrupted because of the reel-to-reel tape technology. What a marvelous entertainer was he!
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 11:35:41 AM
Great info Richard!
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 11:43:10 AM
Bill Haley's version features notably bowdlerized lyrics.
Richard of Rocky Hill 11:57:05 AM
@ Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) Another outstanding show, and today celebrating the 4th of July with the African-American blues. Thanks.
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 11:57:25 AM
Thanks as always Richard!
