Jimi Hendrix (1942-1970) was a self-taught electric guitar virtuoso. He began as a backup guitarist for R&B acts (Ike and Tina Turner, Sam Cooke, Wilson Pickett, Little Richard, The Isley Brothers, and B.B. King). Brought to London from New York by former Animals bassist Chas Chandler, Hendrix quickly established himself as the brightest new star on the burgeoning progressive rock scene of the early '60s. His innovative guitar style became quite influential despite his short career.

While his performance of The Star Spangled Banner at Woodstock is widely known, this studio recording is quite different, and practically orchestral.

David Fiuczynski (born in 1964) is a multi-culti jazz guitarist with a punk attitude. Currently a professor at the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Since 1980, Negativland's musical collages are prompted by the fact that art and commerce have now merged to a degree where corporate commerce now finances, grooms, directs, filters, manufactures and distributes almost everything we know of as "culture."

Since 1991, British artist Vicki Bennett has been repurposing pre-existing footage to craft audio/video collages, seeing sampling as folk art in the age of mechanical reproduction. She is collaborating with "Wobbly" = Jon Leidecker from Negativland.

Yes are an English rock band who achieved worldwide success with their progressive, art, and symphonic style of rock music. Regarded as one of the pioneers of the progressive genre, Yes are known for their lengthy songs, mystical lyrics, and elaborate album art. (It is also their perceived pretentiousness that helped fuel the backlash against prog rock in the mid-1970s.)

New Grass Revival was an American progressive bluegrass band founded in 1971, and included (at various times) Sam Bush, Courtney Johnson, Ebo Walker, Curtis Burch, Butch Robins, John Cowan, Béla Fleck and Pat Flynn. They were active between 1971 and 1989. The New Grass Revival bucked tradition, with long hair, informal clothing, and performances of songs from a variety of genres.

Billy Strings was born William Lee Apostol on 3 October 1992, in Lansing, Michigan. Introduced to bluegrass at an early age, he is considered the future of bluegrass. His 2019 album Home won the Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album.

American country and bluegrass singer and multi-instrumentalist, born 18 July 1954 in Cordell, Kentucky. Skaggs showed prowess at an early age, playing mandolin on stage with Bill Monroe at age 5 and appearing on TV with Lester Flatt & Earl Scruggs at 7. He emerged as a professional bluegrass musician in 1971.

Union Station is an American bluegrass and country band associated with singer and violinist Alison Krauss.

Led by Serge Fiori, Harmonium was a Quebec-based progressive rock band that sang in French. They were one of the most well-regarded and successful of the Québécois prog scene in the 1970's. They released 3 LPs in their 5-year existence. On their debut, they were more of a prog- folk trio.

On their 2nd LP, Harmonium grew and expanded their sound to incorporate more symphonic prog elements while retaining much of their folk rock character.

L'Heptade was their 3rd LP, and they reached their progressive zenith. Popular in Quebec, the double LP has sold over 400,000 copies since its release, despite its lenghty songs and complex arrangements.

Soon after the disbanding of Harmonium, Serge Fiori joined with Richard Séguin for this one-off LP '200 nights an hour'.

Serge Fiori was barely heard from in the 1980s and 1990's, releasing one LP in 1986 that went almost unnoticed.

After a long silence, Serge Fiori returned with this self-titled CD. While not 'prog', it contains the insightful lyrics that made him famous. "Crampe au Cerveau" (brain cramp) even contains some lyrics in English.

After years of resisting any Harmonium reunions, Serge Fiori participated in this "Serge Fiori Seul Ensemble" a double CD set of classic Harmonium songs reworked for a circus show purpose.

Chromb! is a French quartet with strings, reeds, 88 keys and drums, making avant-rock with no guitar. Their music is distorted jazz mixed with chamber music without adherence too any particular style. https://chromb.bandcamp.com/album/1000

David Rose (born 1946, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania- died 1994, aged 48) was an American violinist who mostly worked in France, especially as a member of the fusion band Transit Express. This is his debut solo release, with the largest Zeuhl elements.

Eskaton is a French progressive rock/Zeuhl band. Founded in 1970, disbanded in 1985. Eskaton took Magma "Kohntarkosz" influences, mixed in prog, lots of electronics and increasingly elements of cold wave. This unique concoction, fronted by two female vocalists, made for a distinctive Zeuhl sound.

Since 1980, Negativland has been an experimental-music and art collective.

DAAU ("The Anarchistic Evening Entertainment") is a Belgian modern classical folk band formed in in 1992 in Antwerp. Started as a quartet of 4 classically trained musicians. Their music fuses pop, eastern-european folk and classical music, with jazz and punk attitude.

Zeuhl fusion band fronted by drummer Philippe Gleizes (member of Christian Vander's "Offering").

The membership of Z.E.R.O. is variable, ranging from a live trio to a virtual 17 piece band in the studio.
