@ DJ Senni Kat (host) Thanks for playing Lesley Gore's cover of the old pop standard "Cry Me a River." I was intrigued by the jazzy harpsichord on it. So I took a deep-ish dive into that river and found that her 1963 recording was a full 3 years before that sound was a staple of Donovan's classic folk rock-psychedelic LP Sunshine Superman. Plus, Gore was produced by the great Quincy Jones. Wow!

i love her take on it! wow didn't know she and donovan were 3 years apart in their versions

quincy did some really cool stuff with her sound - he doubled all her vocals and used stereo exclusively i think

@ DJ Senni Kat (host) Right. Donovan didn't cover "Cry Me a River" but that jazzy harpsicord was major to his psychedelic sound as produced by Mickie Most. But the late great Quincy Jones was way ahead with the sound. Very interesting re: his other innovations that highlighted Ms. Gore's huge talents to best advantage, thanks for that.

sounds similar to breakwater's iconic "say you love me girl"
