Good Morning. I was driving on route 80 as they were closing it. The workers seemed very concerned. They were walking up the highway placing cones and merging traffic.

It is concerning. I am glad that my trips through there are infrequent. I would rather not get eaten by a sinkhole.

my local land trust, which i am a member has some areas of old growth forest. I love it because it is community funds who pay for the management not government

it is surprising that there areas of old growth because in the 1850s there was functioning paper mill pretty much dead center in the park area. you can clearly see where the cut and didn't cut trees

probably some of the trees were good for paper and some were not or the terrain wasn't good for the logging machines

I summon the Lorax to save the trees

terrain played a key factor. the old forest sections are on hillsides and rocky areas. the community apparently appreciates the trust because the park has expanded pretty significantly recently through property owner land donations to prevent development.
