Luv this song
Cailyn (host) 10:07:52 AM
same here, it’s a boogie down classic in my books
Ossy 10:27:18 AM
snowed in socksflop!!!
Ossy 10:28:34 AM
Oooo sweet thing Chaka Khan, and yesterday on mother station revealed, around 1974, Chaka was in her early 20s!
Cailyn (host) 10:29:44 AM
i hope you guys are bundled up!!
Ossy 10:31:29 AM
Yeah, got long high cozy socks on!!
Ossy 10:32:25 AM
And btw, did see that wicked movie....on new years day 💖💚
Cailyn (host) 10:37:12 AM
what did you think of it?
Ossy 10:46:44 AM
Pretty great and loads of musical notes like Grease/High School Musical/Wonka/Various Rodgers Hammerstein movies with interesting story plots, what of you?
Cailyn (host) 10:48:42 AM
my family really liked it! and there were some songs that i enjoyed but overall i thought it was just okay
Ossy 10:54:38 AM
the popular song by glinda is an instant repeat in head and elphaba's 1st song singing over a cliff...looking forward what pt 2 will give
Ossy 10:55:37 AM
plus elphaba is a down to earth relatable person, which I like and relate to 💚🖤
Cailyn (host) 10:59:20 AM
i'm also curious about pt. 2, the story was interesting and made me want to read the book!
Ossy 11:06:03 AM
nice, also makes me want to revist the 1930s Wizard Oz!
Ossy 11:07:00 AM
speaking more wicked, I think Elsa(Idina Menzel) was in a wicked production, in the 2010s
Cailyn (host) 11:07:57 AM
yes! that's how i was introduced to the show, i think she popularized the role
Ossy 11:11:27 AM
and seeing the wicked movie once again, crowds were filled, with one woman singing/laughing/clapping loud, even though not too huge on massive packed crowds, that can be popcorn littered, narrow, stuffy, smelly etc hahaha. Oh yeah, havent seen Elsa's wicked yet, but no doubt, simce she's already iconic as the Snow Queen. Think also will see that Maleficient and Sleeping Beauty movies, since people compare Elphaba and Maleficent
Ossy 11:18:28 AM
omg DOOPEES! First knew of them of their "Love Songs" in december 2021 here!
Cailyn (host) 11:20:35 AM
i've been loving them lately!
Ossy 11:22:20 AM
❤️💛❤️💛❤️💛..btw last cold night on butter, heard of this late singer named brenton wood, that's new to me!
Cailyn (host) 11:23:14 AM
brenton wood is so good! very soulful and romantic
Richard of Rocky Hill 11:25:01 AM
@ Cailyn (host) I've got the thrilled chills. "The Dolphins" ~ so seaswept beautiful ~ was composed by amazing singer/songwriter/guitarist Fred Neil, best kniown for his song "Everyvbody's Talkin' at Me" which was used as the them for the movie Midnight Cowboy. I had no idea Linda Ronstadt had covered it.
Richard of Rocky Hill 11:29:02 AM
The eponymous album Fred Neil on Capitol Records IMHO may be the greatest folkrock LP of the '60, right up there with the best of Dylan (to whom Fred was a mentor when the lad first arrived in Greenwich Village in 1961). It's probably out of print but the content is available on Fred Neil compiliations. Have a listen!
TAndy 11:31:45 AM
I'm so happy we're getting actual snow in CNJ omfg
Cailyn (host) 11:32:16 AM
Richard! I actually have been meaning to watch Midnight Cowboy for like a year a minimum...I had the name Fred Neil in the back of my mind but I hadn't really looked more into it. Thank you so much for sharing this with me! the Linda Ronstadt cover totally took over my mind for a while so i'm glad you liked it as much as i did!
Cailyn (host) 11:33:25 AM
TAndy yeah the snowfall is forcing me to face (cold cold) reality, but who doesn't love a nice snowfall!
Richard of Rocky Hill 11:41:25 AM
And "Cherish" by The Association (another of my high fav-s of the Sixties) covereed by the awesome Nina Simone. Wow, please keep them coming! :-D
TAndy 11:42:55 AM
This sounds SO MUCH like something I would hear on the kitchen radio as a kid on a snow day. Wow this is great!
Ossy 11:46:04 AM
cailyn - yeah, a few ig music archive glimpse of his songs instantly shows how great he is! Rest in paradise for him, and it we're barely into the new year
Li Maria 11:46:08 AM
Always love me some Ronnie Spector! I'll miss tuning in to Girl Flop regularly. Thanks, Cailyn for all the great shows
Cailyn (host) 11:47:33 AM
so heart warmed right now guys, i'm super super happy that you're enjoying the show
Richard of Rocky Hill 11:49:36 AM
The song originally intended ~ and I beleve written ~ as the Midnight Cowboy theme was the excellent "I Guess the Lord Must Be in New York City" by Harry Nilsson. But it seems the wandering-lonesomeness emotion of Fred Neil's number apparently seemed to fit the movie better.
TAndy 11:52:02 AM
Ahhh thank you so much for the warm tunes this morning!! 💙💙💙
TAndy 11:52:16 AM
My friend showed me this song before so I already love it
Richard of Rocky Hill 11:54:14 AM
Semi-Spoiler Alert but for background: The "Midnight Cowboys" were hustlers who worked the bars and movie theaters of 42nd Street in NYC back when that neighborhood was _definitely not_ the family-oriented entertainment destination it is today! It's not only a powerful cinematic work on its own, it's really very much a social document of a seedy and often tragic NYC spot that's no longer there.
Richard of Rocky Hill 11:55:37 AM
@ Cailyn (host) Thanks so much for girlflop and very best for fulfilling and safe days abroad.
