Hello!
Li Maria 10:02:30 AM
Good morning, SBWIII!
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 10:04:15 AM
Morning
Brian D 10:40:39 AM
John Bonham's famous drum intro for Led Zep' song "Rock and Roll" was an homage to the drum part on Little Richard's "Keep a Knockin". So glad this show is back on air SBW3!
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 10:41:25 AM
I can hear that now that you say it Brian!
roberto creamero 10:41:26 AM
Can you spell the term you mentioned using at parties please? 😄
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 10:41:38 AM
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paraklausithyron
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 10:42:14 AM
Plant sang "Rock and Roll" when I saw him in Camden this month
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 10:42:28 AM
Sadly with a much different drum arrangement
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 10:43:20 AM
The term was "Paraklausithyron"
Brian D 10:46:19 AM
Yes! I saw the Willie Nelson Outlaw tour in Hershey Pa a few days later SBW3! And Plant & Krauss were the highlight for me. Such a great band with Stu Duncan on fiddle, mandolin etc and JD McPherson on lead guitar (camera operator just could not figure out where JD was sadly... usual with lead guitar players, cameras fixate everywhere but them often. JD ripping these great parts and they put camera on everyone else just standing there ha).
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 10:46:56 AM
I agree... a great band. Sadly for Dylan's set there seemed to be no camera operator at all when I saw him.
Brian D 10:47:08 AM
That was a great version of Rock and Roll they did. New Orleans kinda beat with fiddles. Perfect. Loved it
Brian D 10:49:34 AM
They had very quiet sound for Dylan and then later Willie too. Dylan was a hoot playing his fave piano led covers. An extension of his radio dj persona from satellite Theme Time Radio hour. And some classics of his own.
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 10:53:48 AM
THank you for letting me know! It should be fixed. Is it?
Brian D 10:54:17 AM
Yep all good
Richard of Rocky Hill 11:05:20 AM
@ Brian D Your criticism of the camera work at that Willie Nelson tour with Plant & Krauss rings all too true to me. Being bluegrass fan, I've endured decades of a banjo player putting out some fine picking -- and the camera persons and director just stay on the guitar player swatting rhythm. :-((
Richard of Rocky Hill 11:07:05 AM
@ Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) Ahhhh ... the Holy Modal Rounders, just what/who I need this morning. Thanks!
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 11:07:39 AM
Wanted to hear a little more fiddle after the Sheiks
Brian D 11:15:45 AM
Yep Richard rings true at the Bluegrass fests as well. Television broadcasts of live bands as well. They can't figure out who is playing. Wonder if it is confusion of the "stage left / stage right" terms vs our "regular right and left". My wife and I are gearing up for Grey Fox Bluegrass Fest in a matter of days! Weather in Greene County NY has been below heat wave temps of late. No rain scheduled during fest days last I checked... Such a killer line up of all stars this year as usual
Brian D 11:17:22 AM
Low 80s by day high 50s at night. Good big moon mountain weather looks like
Brian D 11:20:19 AM
Speaking of great banjo that Dixieland Jug Blowers Skip, Scat, Doodle-Do was really cooking!
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 11:23:16 AM
:)
Richard of Rocky Hill 11:25:52 AM
@ Brian D Enjoy Grey Fox! It's definitely one of the very finest bluegrass festivals of our time, a real family show with a consistently top talent lineup. Alas, I haven't been to it for some years. Gotta correct that in '25!
Richard of Rocky Hill 11:27:55 AM
@ Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) great fun, Little Esther and the Robins' "Mainliner" tracking in with those endless cool train metaphors. Genius, really. :-))
Brian D 11:30:19 AM
Oooo this is a good one. The Wolf. Love the guitar parts and the piano
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 11:32:01 AM
Lafayette Leake on the keys. And of course Hubert Sumlin on the guitar.
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 11:32:26 AM
Oddly enough, Buddy Guy on the bass
Brian D 11:33:02 AM
Hubert forever.. wow that tone. Another classic here w Elmore
Brian D 11:37:39 AM
The hits keep coming
Richard of Rocky Hill 11:57:49 AM
Oh my, Scrapper Blackwell's guitar fills and accidentals (on purpose, of course!) on "Kokomo Blues." That's why the true blues takes a lifetime to learn ...
Richard of Rocky Hill 11:58:44 AM
@Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) Thanks for another fab show and see/hear you on Thursday at noon.
Sonny Boy Williamson III (host) 11:58:44 AM
It's great to hear him on his own (as much as I like hearing him with Carr)
Brian D 11:59:36 AM
To play us out... ? We'll do it live!
Brian D 12:00:11 PM
Great show SBW3!
